About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
Our name, which means “little dream” in Italian, was chosen by partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo because it had always been their dream to open a restaurant of their own. “The restaurant fits our personal goal to get to the heart of Italian wine and food,” says executive chef Priolo. “You go to Italy for simple food prepared by hand with local ingredients. We wanted to bring that experience to Chicago.”

Piccolo Sogno features a menu of seasonally fresh rustic Italian cuisine. The impressive all-Italian wine list boasts over 400 selections to pair with your meal.

When the weather allows, enjoy al fresco dining in the hidden garden patio-regularly recognized as one of the best in the city.

Starting December 1, Monday-Thursday we'll open at 5 pm rather than 4 pm-just for the winter.

You are welcome to bring a cake to celebrate. If you do, we will charge a $3 fee per person cake-cutting fee.

Beginning January 1, all credit card transactions will be charged a 3% fee.

Had reservations and was seated right away. Even though they were busy, the staff was friendly and made sure we were satisfied with our beverages and food. Food was fresh and excellent.

Mother’s Day brunch outside in courtyard. Food and service were outstanding. Usually my expectations for eating out on a holiday are not high as restaurants are crowded and not at their best. Piccolo Sogno proved to me that they could exceed expectations even on a busy holiday. Well done!

Piccolo Sogno is a great restaurant. Unfortunately, they’ve packed too many tables into the extended tent area. Maybe because it’s still a little cool to have the complete patio open. This was a special night celebrating my wife’s birthday with my 2 teenage daughters. I indicated this in the Open table reservation. Very loud. Has to have the heat lamps close to not be cold. Slow service due to the number of tables and guests. I guess we didn’t make the cut to sit in the inside dining area.

Upon reserving our table, I asked for a table by the window, 2nd choice was a table at the perimeter - anything other than a table in the middle of the room. We were seated in the middle of the room. Very noisy & disruptive - an unpleasant experience. This was the only time my request was not accommodated

My friend and I (two women) ordered a pizza ($30) and two appetizers, roasted cannellini beans and zucchini flowers. It was all very greasy, and the beans were fried, not roasted. The waiter got quite grumpy when we didn’t order alcohol. Then he came back and said, “And for your entree..”. We had a whole pizza and two appetizers. Not sure how much food he thought we could eat. He never checked to see how things were. And he came back with the check - didn’t ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert, just the check. He was an older man, so at first, I felt bad. But when he just brought us the check, I didn’t anymore. The rest of the staff were fairly nice. I’m not sure what our waiter’s problem was, other than the fact that our bill wasn’t $200. Not to mention the fact that the valet parking, in the terrible intersection of Grand, Halsted, and Milwaukee, was $16. Ridiculous for Chicago. I won’t be going back there.
