Our name, which means “little dream” in Italian, was chosen by partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo because it had always been their dream to open a restaurant of their own. “The restaurant fits our personal goal to get to the heart of Italian wine and food,” says executive chef Priolo. “You go to Italy for simple food prepared by hand with local ingredients. We wanted to bring that experience to Chicago.”

Piccolo Sogno features a menu of seasonally fresh rustic Italian cuisine. The impressive all-Italian wine list boasts over 400 selections to pair with your meal.

When the weather allows, enjoy al fresco dining in the hidden garden patio-regularly recognized as one of the best in the city.

Starting December 1, Monday-Thursday we'll open at 5 pm rather than 4 pm-just for the winter.

You are welcome to bring a cake to celebrate. If you do, we will charge a $3 fee per person cake-cutting fee.

Beginning January 1, all credit card transactions will be charged a 3% fee.

Service was excellent, but food was bland and uninspired. Not worth the price point.

From beginning to end (and by “end” I mean we decided to truncate our dinner at salads and a shared Casio e Pepe and one adult libation for each of us) — it was a far-less-than-stellar dining experience. The noise level was quite loud and we could not understand our waiter whose speech was rapid-fire and who had such a thick accent it was quite literally teetering on impossible to understand what he was saying. We had to repeatedly re-ask questions we had about the menu and finally just threw our hands up and ordered (throwing a dart, basically, at we’d had queries about). Salads (two - a baby kale salad and a mixed beet and citrus salad) were mediocre at best (notable absence of flavor, rather blah), the Cacio e Pepe was basic - this was a thinner-consistency Cacio cheese sauce saturating narrow spaghetti noodles. Good but not terrific. One of us had a glass of wine and the other had a margarita. The wine was perfectly passable and the margarita was quite good. We are new to Chicago. We walked to this restaurant from our condo in Streeterville. The walk over was through areas we would consider “not great” and when we finally arrived at the restaurant location we both felt the area was rather sketchy. But we came to realize this so-so sketchy-feeling area ultimately bleeds into other areas across the river: the very busy Fulton Market area and the West Loop’s very busy area (both restaurant and bar-laden neighborhoods). It seems all of these areas are geared almost singularly for those who are in their early twenties and (possibly) early thirties. In ALL locales we have found the music to be too blaring, way too loud at each and every restaurant. My husband is a physician and we both commented that regular patrons and employees of these places will all experience appreciable hearing loss/ear drum damage in due time as a result of the immensely loud noise level in ALL of these dining and bar spaces.

Everything we ordered was amazing! Sea bass, lasagna, gnocchi and short ribs with polenta. The service staff was knowledgeable and attentive. We dined on the patio and it was beautiful-a real gem in the city.

Took over 1 hour to get our food and got zero explanation from the restaurant. We only got our food after we reached out to complain that it’s been an hour to get our entrees from the time we ate our appetizer.
