About Piccolo Mondo

Piccolo Mondo restaurant in Glasgow has a special history. Forty five years ago, the Tuscan Pierotti family opened a restaurant called Piccolo Mondo, which was hugely popular and beloved. They then sold it and were involved in many other eateries here, including La Fiorentina. But they always regretted letting it go, and have now opened a new, upgraded Piccolo Mondo, a renaissance of an old dream. It’s a classically beautiful space in a former bank, with soaring vaulted ceilings, paintings, warm pale terra cotta walls, Tuscan red table linens, chandeliers and red velvet seating. The menu employs seasonal ingredients of the highest standard in creating delicate Euro classic and new Mediterranean dishes. The Pierotti family have a wealth of experience and pride in their establishment and it shows, from the superb service to the authentic recipes to the calm, pleasurable ambience.

I love this place. Every time I go to Glagow I make it a point to hit Piccola Mondo's. Excellent Pate! I have never had a dish that disappointed!

Wonderful service, the food was impeccable. We had a minestrone and the veal. Napkins are folded over you, side dishes are brought on a separate plate and placed on your dish. The waiters were very professional, so if you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere this isn't the place. Everything up to 100% though.

Seven of us went for an early evening meal. The attention from the staff couldn't have been better. Our original table was in a relatively dark area, so we requested another table, since one of our group has difficulty with low lighting. This presented no problem. The food was lovely, but not 'out of this world'. Waiters were helpful but not overly pushy.
Toilets were very clean. They myst be checked over frequently, since all the bins were empty. They are however downstairs. There were disabled facilities on the ground floor.
Prices were much as you would expect for a city centre restaurant.
I noticed that they seem to have good deals on at lunchtime.

Really enjoyed my lunch. The food was tasty and well cooked. The set lunch was good value for money. The restaurant was busy which says a lot as it was Tuesday lunchtime. Staff were friendly. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

I have never been disappointed with the food, service or value for money. The Festive Novelty Menu meant we had an aperitif or glass of wine, 2 courses & either tea, coffee or a liqueur for £17.50 which I consider good value for money over the festive season.

Very pleasant restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. There was a group of 6 of us and the circular table we had was just the right size for us all to be able to engage in conversation together.

Good quality food and good service.

Also very handy for Central Station.

Staying in a hotel nearby and reading reviews was looking forward to the evening
The place is a nice standard Italian style but not a lot of atmosphere
Asked for a Pernod with ice and water and was served the drink in a half pint glass filled to the top with a clear yellow liquid. after a sip told the waiter the drink had been served incorrectly and explain how I wanted it served. 2nd drink served properly added water and was still clear. Told waiter Pernod was not correct and he said that the Pernod had probably been there for years and he took it away saying it would not be charged for.
Food was excellent !!!!
Got the bill and the pernod had been charged. This was removed on request
Although food was excellent the whole dining experience left us flat

Ate here before to celebrate a friends 25th wedding anniversary and was very impressed. Have booked daughters graduation lunch for mid June.Booked on this occasion on spur of the moment and was very pleased. Restaurant full on a Wednesday night, however the waiters made us feel welcome and spent time with us. Food was tasty and well presented. The restaurant takes advantage of being a former bank, and ambiance in abundance with lovely decor. Becoming a favorite. Would highly recommend.

I had dinner with 2 friends. We chose the Celebration menu. This consisted of 3 courses with a wide choice of dishes. The food was delicious with good sized portions. There was also a bottle of wine between 2, an aperitif , coffee and liqueur. Excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and polite. All courses were served quickly with appropriate timings between them. We have been on several occasions and will definitely be back. I would recommend this Piccolo Mondo for good food, good value, pleasant ambience, professional staff and value for money.. GZ

We had festive lunch menu and lots to chose from. Plenty of staff working hard and very helpful and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and got busy quickly. After a morning of shopping it was great to sit and relax and enjoy the food and drink. The Christmas pudding with brandy and Zambuca sauce was a pure great and I could happily go back now and have all over again.

Service is efficient and professional. Reliably good is melon as a starter. Location suits travellers arriving at Central Station as a short walk from low level exit. It is ideal as a business lunch venue as close to Glasgow's many offices. Not a place to dally- best to be in at 12 noon or 12.30 as restaurant empties at 2.30. It is reliably good for food at lunch time.
