Piccolo Arancio Ratings and Reviews
Quiet, refreshing, relaxing, satisfying dinning experience... the service is so friendly and considerate, it sets you at ease right away so you can fully enjoy your meal. The food is fabulous... the best in the area for pasta and grilled items and Italian specialties. The soups are very tasty and soothing... salads are special, and all their specialties are definitely worth taking a look at... Go and take a look here!
A large gathering, birthday party was being hosted in one of the dining areas which created a lot of noise (given the low ceilings). I was surprised that group wasn't in the back room. Disappointed that the portion size on the lobster ravioli was so small. Great service from Mary!
Dinner for four was delightful for all four diners!! My husband had risotto which he loved. My brother-in-law had Ossobuco which he loved! My sister had Filet Mignon which she loved. I had a Vegetable Entrée that was put together for me as I am Vegan. I loved this entrée as well! The meat was extremely tender and delicious for the carnivores among us and the accompaniments very tasty as well. The rice and seafood in the risotto was superb. The vegetables on my platter were prepared wonderfully and extremely tasty! So, you can't go wrong at Piccolo Arancio.... so go!!!!
It was a quiet Friday Night Dinner for two! Our entrees were wonderful. The linguine with meatballs (not on the menu ... but custom ordered... Piccolo Arancio will accommodate such requests graciously and gladly) was very tasty and satisfying with a light tomato sauce and very soft and delicate meat balls. The chickpea and vegetable soup was outstanding! We recommend this restaurant if you are a hearty eater for pastas and such or a light eater for soups and salad and such! Both of these types of eaters can be highly satisfied!
Last visit to Piccolo's was excellent. This time it was meh, at best. That's the number one problem with this place ... consistency! Ordered the same chicken item with porcini mushrooms but this time it was dry as a bone. Badly overcooked. Calamari was equally flavorless and chewy. Last time, both were done to perfection. So...go and take your chances. Perhaps the chef will be in on the night you attend. Good luck.
This get together was fun, fun, fun! All of the staff added to our fun! They are such a friendly and fun group! The food was fabulous. The short ribs over linguine were delicious, the spaghetti and meatballs were marvelous, the Swordfish was sensational! We highly recommend this restaurant for its staff, it’s food, and we cannot to get the wine!
An extensive menu of interesting food-our dishes were delicious and well-executed. The interior is intimate, which is enjoyable, but a loud party of 4 next to us made it hard to carry on a conversation. We hadn’t been here in years and really enjoyed it-anxious to come back soon!
Food was outstanding. We had the chickpea vegetable soup and my husband who doesn’t like chickpeas raved about it. He also had the monkfish and said it was the best fish dish he’s ever had. Superb food. Russell our server was awesome as usual. He makes the night enjoyable with his friendliness and attention. Thank you again for a great time!
The food was outstanding. Everything was delicious. Our server on the other hand was terrible. We have 4 kids who have all worked as servers in their teens, and appreciate how difficult it can be. The server we had recommended the prix fix menu which we opted for, then brought out our entrees before the sorbet. When I pointed out that she hadn’t brought the right course she said they’d keep our entrees warm under a lamp until we were ready. We were intending to enjoy a relaxing dinner and were enjoying our conversation and Throughout the evening she kept trying to take plates we were still working on, as if we weren’t eating fast enough for her liking. When I asked to take my uneaten portion of my entree Home, she took the plate away and returned with a huge bag which she placed directly on our table. The next day I opened the box and realized she didn’t include the horseradish sauce that was left on my plate. I don’t mind spending $$$$ for an excellent meal, but I’d have a hard time saying it was worth the experience with servers like that.
It was my husband’s birthday so we went to Piccolo Arancio to celebrate! He had a marvelous Risotto entree that he devoured!!! His bruschetta was bountiful and delicious! The stafff was very gracious in extending birthday wishes to him... Wonderful celebration for his birthday ... we recommend Piccolo Arancio for any celebration... Great Food, Gracious Service, Awesome Ambiance to enhance any occasion!
Everything about the evening was great - from the before-dinner drink to the dessert. The veal chop and salmon are favorites, done just right.
Special mention about the service - Jackie was our server and she was great, patiently answering menu questions. Though it was a crowded holiday evening everything went smoothly. A truly enjoyable dinner experience.
The place was jumping on Friday night with holiday celebrations! It was festive and beautifully decorated.... the food was great! My Vegan Veggie Entee was yummy! The Vegan Lentil soup was lovely and so tasty!!! My companions had pasta with meatballs and pasta with chicken and mushrooms and loved them!!! The bread was warm and wonderful!!! Go for the food... stay for the service and ambience and Holiday Magic!!!
If you are vegan then you can find good options here! Their bean soups are always vegan, their pizzas can be customized to be vegan as can many salads. This restaurant works to meet their customers dietary needs! I love their pea soup - the best I have ever eaten! I also love to put together a varied veggie entree with Portabella mushrooms ... so, if you or any of your friends are vegan or if you are a group that has carnivores, omnivores and vegetarians YOU all can find something to love here!
It was dinner on The Saturdsy night after Thanksgiving! We needed something non-poultry! We had a fabulous meal! Pasta with meatballs which hit the nme poultry spot! Pasta at Piccolo Arancio is exceptional! The fish is superb! The salads are sensational! You cannot go wrong on ordering anything from this menu! Try this restaurant if you have not yet.
Vegans can do very well at Piccolo Arancio! They have great Vegan Soups ... all of their Vegetable Bean Soups are Vegan. YES! AND they are excellent. They have a Roasted Portabella Mushroom that is wonderful... just leave the cheese off... they make dynamite roasted and sautéed veggies... and most of the salads are easily "veganized". My favorite salad is the roasted beet salad... So, if you are vegan, you have nothing to fear and much to look forward to!!! Thank you, Sal and all the great chefs at Piccolo Arancio!!!
Mary was and always is the best server for the family. She knows what we like and takes care of us. Today was my dad’s bday and though he passed Mary brought us a cake w a candle. We loved that. The food and the atmosphere was excellent as always. Best restaurant in Farmington.
The portions were very small given the price of the meal. The food was under seasoned, so we all ended up adding pepper, salt or grated cheese (what we had on hand at the table). A member of our party ordered Fettucine with lobster and he literally was searching for the tiny pieces of lobster in the dish. The chopped salad was tasteless. The seafood sampler appetizer was very small. Our server could have advised us that there would only be one Of each item on the plate as we ended up having to order a second dish for our larger party. We were placed next to a table with younger children. Not that this is the fault of the restaurant, but the children were watching movies on an iPad at full volume. It really made it difficult for conversation at our table and was annoying for a Saturday night. There was plenty of room in the restaurant, a different table would have solved the problem.
Service and pasta excellent. House salad was below par, greens not crisply, a little wilted. Dessert expensive but worth the money, cannoli fresh . Although linguine and clams were not on the menu the kitchen did make it for my wife. It was excellent, my homemade fettuccine was the best but a little light on the lobster meat.
We have gone to Piccolo Arancio for years. I have always loved the simply grilled salmon and order that normally. I have recently decided to try a vegan diet. So, I spoke with Russell , our server, and designed a vegan entree. It is delicious! The portabella mushroom without the cheese, and sautéed vegetable medley and sautéed spinach! Yummy! Piccolo Arancio is always so accomodating to any dietary need... so, whatever your dietary preferences, try Piccolo Arancio!
This restaurant has sophisticated Italian cuisine. We started with a signature salad of field greens, asparagus, warm beets and gala apples in a walnut vinaigrette. Our entrees included pumpkin ravioli with sage butter and seafood risotto. Both were delicious. We complemented our meal with a reasonably priced Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc.
