Salvatore Faso opened Piccolino in 2007. A Sicilian by way of Chicago, Faso comes from a family of Italian chefs and restaurateurs. He made a name for himself at Prego before setting off on his own with Piccolino.
In August of 2015 he moved to a free-standing building with exponentially nicer decor – it’s now the poshest Italian restaurant in south Orange County. The centerpiece is a beautiful wine vault that surrounds the front entrance. And there’s plenty to show off. Faso has assembled a concise but impressive collection of Italian wines.
Make sure to ask about the veal porterhouse. Chances are nobody’s going to tell you about it unless you bring it up. It’s not on the menu. It’s a secret special that’s always in short supply but usually available for a few orders each night. It is absolutely superb: cut thick, heavily charred around the edges and rosy pink throughout.

Our evening at Piccolino’s could not have been more memorable! We were greeted by our waitress, Ivette, with a split of champagne and wishes for a Happy Anniversary. So sweet. She was amazing throughout the evening. I LOVE incredible Customer Service, and she delivered. Our food (and drinks!...mmmm...Piccolino Martini!) — just delicious. They never disappoint.

This was our first time at this restaurant. They sat us early as we arrived before our reservation The waiter was very nice and attentive. The food we ordered was excellent and everyone was happy with there dinner. We also had appetizers and I ordered a Bloody Mary which was kind of weak, with no salt or olives. I’d stick with the wine. Will come back for dinner again soon.

Best Italian in OC!!! and the hospitality team is amazing...have never had a bad meal, and we love the Veal Milanese! BTW...make sure you try one of their signature cocktails...they never disappoint!
Piccolino's during Covid was busy with a nice ambience. Two of us shared a caesar salad, followed by a pasta and two glasses of house wine each - the bill came to $126 + tip, which is a little pricey. There again, prices seemed to have shot up everywhere. It's becoming harder and harder to justify eating out, sadly.
The food is always incredible. Our server, Blake, was attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance was nice. They have the tables spaced for social distance right now, giving us more space than usual. We will come back again soon.

Food was amazing as always!!! Was very disappointed that our server did not have a mask on when taking our drink order and still no mask or gloves when bringing us the drinks :( finally put one on when taking and bringing our food but no gloves.

The outside dining is really nice and everybody was socially distance. Food was good however the bruschetta was disappointing. Very little flavor.
We cannot stop talking about this experience! Top to bottom; service, appetizer, salad, entrees, everything was exceptional! We were visiting from Arizona and told our server we will plan a trip around coming back to eat.....we are not kidding!

My wife and I went there a few weeks ago for the first time. It had been quite a while since me and the Mrs. were able to go out to dine in a somewhat normal environment. Our server, Joanna, was great. She was attentive without smothering us. She knew the menu well as well as the wine list. The food was great, however, I had one complaint about the squid in k past being over cooked. Other than that, our meal and entire evening was fantastic. Just recently, I went there with a friend and sat at the bar for lunch. Service there was good as well. The owner helped us most of the time. My friend said she was impressed with both the meal and the service. I think her and her fiancé will be there soon.
Overall, a nice experience. We'll be back!
Consistently a cut above in every aspect: menu, service, ambience. Piccolino always offers a wonderful dining experience. A local treasure!
A day without Sea Bass is a day without A great dinner experience
Imagine my dismay when I purposely called for reservations to insure that Sea Bass was available on the evening Menu and they would set one aside for my dinner fare,.
Upon arrival , I asked the Hostess if my Sea Bass was set aside for me, and she said yes, and then excused herself to visit the kitchen...
Next, our waiter arrived to apologize for selling so many Sea Bass the previously evening, that none were currently available.
Trust me, the Sea Bass is worth forgiving them.......
But their rating on this evening was for poor service......

We had a reservation, however we sat at a table in the bar. Tina and Leah were prompt, friendly and efficient. We ordered the parmesan risotto for an appetizer, and the Fillet special for the entree both were excellent.
The experience was very Covid friendly.
