In August of 2015he moved to a free-standing building with exponentially nicer decor – it’s now the poshest Italian restaurant in south Orange County. The centerpiece is a beautiful wine vault that surrounds the front entrance. And there’s plenty to show off. Faso has assembled a concise but impressive collection of Italian wines.
Make sure to ask about the veal porterhouse. Chances are nobody’s going to tell you about it unless you bring it up. It’s not on the menu. It’s a secret special that’s always in short supply but usually available for a few orders each night. It is absolutely superb: cut gloriously thick, heavily charred around the edges and rosy pink throughout.
Excellent service!!! Lots of fresh specials.
Thierry always delivers a great experience. Looking forward to our next visit.
What a great place to have delicious food with awesome friends !!
This is our "special occasion" spot we discovered a year ago for our Anniversary dinner. The food and service is always spot on. And they serve carpaccio! Plus they have a good winelist (Raeburn Chardonnay for the win) of full bottle and by the glass. We don't think you will be disappointed here.
Restaurant is local and nice. Had dinner few days ago, ordered the 3 course special. Filet was very tough had to send it back, second one came bit later and by then my wife had finished her meal so ate myself, second filet was much better, too bad that had to happen, since made our evening out not as enjoyable. Restaurant comped $10.00 off of $40.00 for the special, under circumstances disappointed, I think should have been more. Will return, might stick to pastas!
For a small city Italian restaurant they put out a big city meal. The printed menu is full of wonderful items, but they got my wife and I hooked on the specials of the night. Lobster stuffed cannoli in a lobster/sherry sauce that was outstanding. The appetizer of the night was a stuffed squash blossom flash deep fried. I highly recommend this restaurant. They seem to cater to larger groups without missing a step. Very nice Italian wine list. Corkage is $25/bottle.
We came for Restaurant Week. Food choices were nice and tasty but steaks were overdone but still tender. Service was very attentive but slower than we’ve had there before. Still one of our favorites so we will return.
Service was extremely slow. Perhaps they had a busy night. Food was very good but rather pricey.
The place looked very nice. We were served immediately with cold water and a warm smile. We both enjoyed a pasta and salad lunch. Talked to the owner named Sal who knew someone I knew also named Sal won had Italian restaurants in Downey. Also another old time Italian restaurant owner named Rosie Frantone.
It is really a small world, as Carl Sagan once said, “A tiny blue dot”, when referring to a photo of earth taken from a billion miles away only appearing as one small blue pixel.
My favorite restaurant. My favorite food--Italian. My favorite restaurant owner.
Loved every minute of it.
You serve the best fresh vegetables including those wonderful potatoes. Love your food.
Another great meal at this local gem. Fantastic service and excellent food with an above average wine list. This place never disappoints!
One of my top two favorite restaurants. The other is 21 Oceanfront in Newport Beach.
The cheuf is a genius, the staff is friendly and efficient, the portions are generous, and it's the best Italian food we've enjoyed since our last trip to Italy. If the ranking went to 10 stars, that's the rating I would give the restaurant. My wife is an excellent chef, and she thinks the squid ink pasta is perfect. We couldn't have been more pleased.
Yummy! Great service, great food. You can’t go wrong.
Excellent service and all amazing meals. We’ll be back!
Never a disappointment
Love this place, however, our table for 2 was much too close to another table. We had to endure other conversations, rather than enjoy our own.
Great food and service, but be prepared for a hefty bill.
The food was excellent and so was the service. We had another great experience here at Piccolino.
Piccolino has impressed us consistently visit after visit, and we have been there over a dozen times. The service is great and all the dishes are of high quality.
Food and service is always terrific! Lighting is really dim, so for one of our friends with a handicap, it made getting to the table for 10 and restroom a challenge.
I took my wife here for her birthday, and we were not disappointed in the slightest! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the service was fantastic and the ambience was perfect. There were so many enticing items on the menu that we ordered several dishes and shared them. There was food left over, so we took it home, and all day the next day I was looking forward to eating my leftovers! Sure, it is a little pricey, but this is one of those instances where you definitely get what you pay for. We are both excited at the prospect of returning to Piccolino to try more of the delicious food.
A hidden gem !! Great food and service was great. Would definitely be back again.
Wonderful food and staff.
Could benefit from some sound muffling on the walls, can be quite loud if a few tables are seated.
A bit pricier than expected, but very good.
Bar tended Garrett great.
Waiter Javier, not so great. Non attentive.
Wonderful restaurant. Great service, excellent meals made with fresh ingredients, and nice setting. Full bar, excellent wine selection, no negatives!
The food is always yummy and their service is old school. We love it here.
Sent my brother and sister-in-law there for the Anniversary . The service was beyond impeccable and they said it was one of the best dinners they had and can not wait to go back. What a gem!
Yes, I would recommend Piccolino's to friends. The food is delicious and the staff is attentive. I had osso bucco that was outstanding.
Wonderful night filled with great food and good people. An absolute gem and the best italian ive had andywhere including italy.
Loved it and will back. I’m not accustomed to have cubed carrots in Lasagna (they were a little crunchy”- maybe wound have not been as noticeable if they were shaved and soft. Regardless- it was a great dish and we’ll be back!!!
Yvette was amazing and made our experience very special! Food was amazing and dessert was to die for!
Great food. Fun evening with friends. Good wine list at reasonable prices.
Terry, the manager, is always welcoming and makes sure each guest’s experience is top notch! Michelle, the hostess, greets all guests with a warm smile and makes sure they are seated quickly. The menu is varied with something for everyone, but the daily specials are always our favorites! Don’t miss the Oso Bucco with risotto!
Excellent all around. I don’t need 50 letters to say that.
Great food and great service
From the moment I walked in, I felt totally welcomed by Michelle and Terry, the manager. They are warm and caring. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was incredible. Our waiter (whose name escapes me - sorry!) was knowledgeable and provided really exceptional service. This is a restaurant that I will go to many times in the future!! Loved it. Period.
Very good food and service. Love this place. Not a great location in a dead strip mall.
Very warm and inviting. Made an off menu item no problem. Great staff.
