Piazza - The Hyatt Lodge at McDonald's Campus Ratings and Reviews
What a nice surprise! The setting is lovely and the the food and service was excellent. Everything is prepared fresh. They have a lot of seafood on the menu. Our table had the linguini with scallops and shrimp, and the sea bass special. While the wine list isn't extensive, bottles are priced well and our selection was very nice. We will return this summer to dine outside by the water. Who knew this little gem was right in our neighborhood but away from the hustle and bustle of Oakbrook.
I surprised my husband on his birthday and took him there to dinner. The food was amazing. Our waiter was absolutely awesome! He & another staff member even surprised my husband with a cake and candle complete with a birthday song without me telling him! It was our first adult dinner out with friends & the first time away from our 13 month old & one month old. We all had a great time and would definitely go back and would also recommend this place to our friends and family. :)
The prawns (appetizer) were excellent and the sea bass with orange glaze was the best I ever had. We had a 5 PM seating so got there before it started getting busy around 6:30. We had a window view over the lake which I would image would be very pleasant in the spring, but we were there on a colder March day that was very overcast. There service was very good. I would recommend this for a special evening. Everything is ala-carte so plan accordingly. You can see a menu on-line. Allow $60-75 (Incl tax and tip) per person. This included 2 drinks, two appetizers, 1 salad, 2 entrees and a shared dessert. All in all I felt that it was an excellent value for that special occation.
We were not staying at the hotel, so we had a difficult time finding the restaurant. In the dark, it was difficult to find the entrance, and there is no parking directly at the hotel entrance. It was raining, so our only option was to valet.
The woman who greeted us was friendly, but our waitress seemed a little lost. We asked for a drink menue, but when this seemed like it was going to be a difficult task, we decided on wine and beer. The food was fair at best, and the Carpaccio was bland. But for us the bigest problem was slow service. We waited through two rounds of drinks and bread before the appetizer arrived, and turned down a third round of bread that was offered.
It is very unlikly that we will return.
Went to dinner Friday night after Thanksgiving and had almost the whole restaurant to ourselves. Service was outstanding and our server Julie made great course recommendations and wine pairings. Portions were perfect for 4 courses and the atmosphere was very nice. Would definitely return.
The atmosphere is very soft and rich. We went to dinner at around 6pm on a Saturday and there were just several tables filled. The service was top notch. We had a long drawn out meal and there was no rush. The music and elegant fireplace made for a wonderful time to talk, eat, and enjoy. We ordered several different items from the menu. The vegetable pizza and bruschetta were excellent, while the risotto was a bit salty. Our main courses were pleasant enough. Some items were better than others but the presentation and the ambiance of the restaurant made up for it. A wonderful overall experience!
The service was outstanding! Ursala and Jaime were the ipitome of fantastic customer service. They introduced themselves, made suggestions, listened to our requests and fulfiled them. The Chicken Saltimbuca was excellent and my wives pasta and clams left you wanting more. And to top it off the hostes Daniela K finished off our experience making sure our experience was up to par.
The menu looked really good, but the food was a bit disappointing. We had a mushroom appetizer which was great but kind of pricey for just 3 mushrooms. The night we went was very quiet and slow (only about 6 active tables) and service was quite slow and unattentive.
This was my second visit to Piazza and the food is wonderful. The service is very attentive and they are willing to split plates so my friends and I could share salads and appetizers. The portion sizes were perfect. Piazza would be an excellent choice for a romantic rendezvous.
On a beautiful evening, the outdoor dining was like being on vacation. The quiet setting and the gorgeous grounds were perfect. The menu was fairly limited, the food was good (but not great) and considering that the waiter had to walk quite a distance to get to us, the service was pleasant if somewhat slow. I would not go back to this restaurant to eat indoors, though, as the great attraction here is the setting. The cost vs quality was not up to an indoor experience. I definitely would come here for a drink on the patio. I wouldn't come back for a dessert, however. We had a hot fudge sundae (not exactly a foodie dream) with no hot fudge sauce. Just sayin'.....
I can't have gluten and our server, Jaime, was great at talking with the chef and determining what I could and could not eat. He even managed to find some gluten free bread so I could enjoy it with with their delicious melted garlic butter - a rare treat when I eat out!
While the food was very good, unfortunately the service was poor. Our waiter who took our order did not endorse any particular dishes and only said some were "pretty good". I was pleased with my crab cake and appetizer of stuffed mushrooms. The downfall came when our waiter never returned for the rest of the meal. We had a busser clear dishes and whom we ordered another drink from, but she couldn't quite understand what we wanted. We finally flagged down the hostess after waiting 20 minutes for someone to bring us dessert menus and she did apologize. We did see our waiter taking someone else's order so he was still in The restaurant but never came back once!
We had a very long and relaxing anniversary dinner to Piazza. The service was great. All of our meals were great also ... with the exception of grilled calamari appetizer. It was not good at all and really, we should have sent it back. Everything else though was outstanding especially the sea bass special of the evening.
The only downside to this restaurant is that it can be quite a challenge to find. It is located within the McDonalds campus, so it feels like you're going the wrong way. We were quite a bit lost. We were seated outside by the lake. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. Though we could have been lost being outside, we never felt abandoned. The food is delicious and very unusual (raw scallop appetizer, wild boar chops, and wild-caught bass were our choices). It was extremely quiet and peaceful. The wine choices were excellent. The dessert (a strawberry shortcake sundae) was perfect. All in all, if you can find it, an excellent choice for a romantic dinner or special occasion.
While it was the perfect night to sit outside next to the pond, my husband preferred to dine inside. However our table faced the pond and greenery and was absolutely beautiful. Fortunately they have gluten-free spaghetti, but unfortunately no other gluten-free choices. Also have dairy issues and the waitress was very charming in working through these issues. We enjoyed Piazza and highly recommend it for a nice, quiet, good food night out. They also comped our desert since it was our anniversary. Very nice indeed.
What a surprise of a find. Piazza is tucked away in the Hyatt Lodge on the campus of Oakbrook's McDonald University. Valet dressed in mustard yellow shirts and all doorhandles with "golden arches" - but that was "it" in the world of mc'd's. Menu was VERY creative with loads of special requests honored without a blink. VERY high quality food and we loved everything about it. There's an amazing display of ceramics and glass that encloses the restaurant on two sides while it faces a lovely lake. Exceptional location for a great getaway. We came from Chicago and met a friend from further west - a perfect "in the middle" spot - with NO rushing. We will return! Our wait person, Michelle, was SUPERIOR!
This was a very nice restaurant, but in my opinion, was not worth it. First of all, it is extremely hard to get to; very confusing to find. Secondly, the menu does not have a lot of options, the portions of food are somewhat small, especially compared to other Italian restaurants. Third, the prices are somewhat pricey for what you get. The food was still good, but nothing outstanding. I was celebrating my 30th birthday, and I thought the least they could do was give a complimentary dessert, but they didn't. The restaurant itself was very elegant and had a great view, but I would not go back. Decent food but too expensive and small portions.
Our experience at Piazza was not our first, and will certainly not be our last....service was impeccable, only to be complimented by outstanding food. The recommendations by our server as well as the manager on duty, Ryan, were spectacular. From the food, drinks, service to the perfect setting for an important dinner, our evening was wonderful. Everything was so enjoyable, our 'dinner meeting' was almost 4 hours long, but because of our overall experience, it was so comfortable none of the diners noticed. Great job, Piazza!
A Restaurant.com coupon brought us to this restaurant located in the McDonald's Lodge on the McDonald's Campus. Beautiful view overlooking a pond. Restaurant was empty at 530pm, but bar was busy. I imagine it's mostly people from meetings held there or nearby businesses. Valet is available, but not self-parking which I can see being a problem in bad weather. Food was very tasty. Waitress kept stressing the chef's desire for local grown fruits and veggies (the new trend). As long as it was good we weren't concerned where it came from. Waitress was wonderful.
Difficult to find, even with step by step directions from Mapquest. But totally worth it. The service was fantastic. The food was phenomenal. My husband had the risotto, and I had the gnocchi. The portions are smaller than at most restaurants. This isn't a problem for me (since I practice portion control), but my husband was a little disappointed in the size of his meal. However, they make up for this with offering you as much foccacia as you want.
It's also very beautiful. They have outdoor seating right next to a lovely pond/lake. And we intend on returning as soon as it's warm enough to eat outside.
We had a saturday evening reservation for five. The restaurant is in a small hotel on the McDonald's Corp campus in Oakbrook, which is a rather secluded spot. There were few other diners that night so the place was quiet and very intimate. Service was excellent and the food was very good. A great out of the way place that works extremely well if you are looking to avoid crowded rushed service restaurants. Definitely worth trying.
