Excellent food and ambiance. Great vegan options, and service exceptional.
A great spot for a special occasion or night out on the town.
Food and service are consistently excellent!
One of my favorite restaurants in the Detroit area. Go there now
We really like it at Phoenicia. I love their ribs, which is why we went there Sunday night. Unfortunatley the ribs were very sparse and had very little meat. Our waiter was also not up to their usual attentiveness. The place was not very busy. Definitely would be leary of the ribs which they do so well.
Outstanding Lebanese cuisine. The vegetarian Swiss Chard rolls are excellent with a hint of spice.
What an awesome meal! From the app. To the wine to the mentree, dessert, and after dinner drinks everything was impeccable. Can’t wait to go back.
Very busy, waited 30 minutes past our reservations, only to be seated at the kitchen door. Limited seating as the restaurant is very small. Even with all the commotion, our service was excellent. Food was good,
I am Lebanese and this is as authentic as it gets! Every time we come here it is absolutely packed - you need a reservation. But it is not too loud, you won't wait long and the food is to die for!
Very good ...food is great
Get noisy and crowded
Love the food there. Our waiter, Paul was friendly and attentive. He was able to help us with gluten free options
This place is truly an authentic Lebanese cuisine experience.
The food at Phoenecia is outstanding; they do a particularly wonderful job with fish and with Middle Eastern specialties. The service is always friendly and attentive. I also like that they take reservations.
We love this place. We eat here often. The food is great and the atmosphere is good. We have always been happy with the choices and the quality and quantity of the food.
Always enjoy dining here! Fresh and flavorful foods with pleasant atmosphere. Very good wine and beer selections.
The middle-eastern food at Phoenicia was excellent in every way. Prices are on the high side but considering the high quality this is reasonable. Excellent service in addition to excellent food make for a great meal.
We had a very disappointing night at our favorite place. We went to celebrate my birthday and somehow they were 'sold out' of the rice and chickpeas wrapped in swiss chard. I've been thinking about that for a month! The waiter felt awful and graciously bought my dinner of squash with rice, but it paled in comparison. Going to call to make sure they have it before I go back.
Excellent food and service. Best Lebanese in metro Detroit.
excellent food service atmosphere
Amazing meal, service, ambiance and wine list! Fantastic recommendations from our server!
Great food, but an overall disappointment. I saw Phoenicia featured on PBS's "No Passport Required" and couldn't wait to try it. A colleague and I went to the Detroit area for business so I made the reservation. We were late - a rare happening for me- and the host found the need to publicly rebuke me for it. Our server was aloof and rude. The food was excellent, but I will never return. There are many good Middle Eastern restaurants in the area - I'll find one whose folks know how to treat their guests.
Food always wonderful with gracious hospitality. It fills up so make your reservation.
Absolutely love this restaurant and have been coming here for over 15 years. The food is always delishious and the presentation is great!
Most consistent, outstanding restaurant in Birmingham. Out go to place for any occasion with outstanding service food and ambiance.
Dinner with friends
Delicious meals and last minute accommodations for extra guests
Great food, top notch service. This place is really a gem. Not only best middle eastern place in town, a top overall restaurant.
The food was a disappointment from past experience. The wine and the service was good.
Phoenicia attracts a well-heeled group of diners. My assumption is that many are from the vicinity and enjoy the attractive and well-appointed place regularly. My waiter was a solid, experienced professional of the type all too infrequent nowadays. He seemed quite busy but worked hard and really was focused on ensuring every table he served was truly happy. I got into an enjoyable conversation with a group at the bar, adjacent to my table. Everyone introduced themselves, so it made me (a single diner) feel like part of the party. The menu is extensive, offering a rich variety of traditional Lebanese and other Mediterranean fare. Go and have fun!
Phoenicia is one of our favorite venues. Food ALWAYS outstanding as is service. It's so popular sometimes we have trouble getting in. Most highly recommend
We had a birthday dinner for my husband with another couple. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is very considerate, the food was excellent, the wine was excellent. My husband had the veal chop special with potatoes, medium rare. Cooked perfectly! I had the dover sole, another special. Although I love dover sole, it was a little bit too lemony for me. It was still good and certainly didn't stop me from eating it. Our friends had the baked chicken and said it was "melt in your mouth" good! All in all, we had a wonderful evening! Thank you!
Delicious food and excellent service. We will definitely return.
So this was my husband and my third try at Phoenicia.... three strikes you are out. Apparently, you need to be a regular or connected to secure a table that is not a two seater by the door or the four top by the kitchen. I reserved through OpenTable for my husband's birthday (that is where he wanted to go). We were a few minutes early and would have waited for a table but they put us by the kitchen (after I had included in the reservation) it was a special occasion where we felt we should assist with serving the guests. Our waiter was Nate, never smiled and acted like he was doing us a favor, and the manager stopped by, Neil, who said he would "compensate" us for our special occasion table. We did not ask to be compensated and thank goodness because we never were. Our bill was our full bill for a crappy table by the kitchen for my husband's birthday. We could have gone anywhere.... and next time we will.
This place is wonderful!
Detroit has endless wonderful hole-in-the-wall Mediterranean, Lebanese, etc., restaurants. Phoenicia is not one of those - it is an upscale restaurant with a refined take on authentic, classic dishes. Excellent atmosphere, elegant, cocktails and wine list...great for a business dinner, date, special occasion. From grape leaves to sweetbreads, there wasn't a klunker in the bunch. Suffice it to say we tried a few things (including dessert) and left quite happy.
Ate lunch at Phoenicia earlier this month for the first time. A friend recommended it to us, and we were not disappointed! The staff is friendly and helpful. The decor is very tasteful with white tablecloths. Love the open air feel. The food was well prepared and delicious. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.
As I sit here, eating an incredible lunch of Phoenicia leftovers, you can only imagine how fantastic the food was when it originally left the restaurant's kitchen! And, the staff is as delicious as the food!
The food is wonderful -- nice ambience and lovely owner that chats at your table. Bartender was outstanding as was the meal -- great wine list.
We’ve been fans for decade, even before the Birmingham location.
Many of our out of town guests insist on dinner at the Phonecia when they come to town.
In the past we’ve come in with large groups and tried, between us, most of the menu.
This time it was two of us, my Chicago guest who is one of those fans.
While we weren’t thrilled with the table we were given, we were ready for a wonderful evening.
Sadly, our waiter was abrupt, condescending, and seemed generally exasperated.
We tried, but he was a sour note who ruined the evening. We were polite, decisive, curious, and enthusiastic Perhaps he was concerned that our check wasn’t going to be large enough . I don’t know.
Our shush kafta was dry and it and the rice were barely warm.
I do wish Ameer had been roaming through
It was an unhappy experience- for the first time ever!
We left as soon as we finished our main course and had coffee, dessert, and a night cap at another restaurant in town.
It was a special occasion and we wanted a special meal and a special experience.
Service was a bit choppy. Shrimp galaba (my personal favorite) was unmemorable at best. Is there a new chef? We will be back but, this meal was a disappointment.
