The restaurant was not open. So this was not a good experience.
Glad to see this places closed. Wish it closed one week earlier. Worst dining experience we’ve ever had in DC.
Went here for Sunday brunch after, unfortunately my experience was not great. I also came here because I plan events for my company and was considering a buy-out for a future event.
The positives: The ambiance was nice, the music was great.
The negatives: Service was very slow. There was only one server and one bartender. They were not out of a lot of typical brunch items (mimosas, chicken and waffles, rancheros) which our server should have let us know before we sat started ordering. She didn't let us know what was out until we ordered. The red sangria was flat and didn't taste like sangria and my friends sangria came with a fly in it. We wanted the unlimited drinks, but again a lot of the drinks weren't included and had to be an upcharge. We were still confused about what drinks were included and what was not in the unlimited option because our server was not very
clear. We wanted mojito but we're told that the manager said they were not included in the unlimited drinks. In my opinion since they were out of a lot of items they should have included all drinks.
I ended up ordering an omelette which was just ok, nothing great and I have had better and have made better in my own kitchen. Definitely not worth the price. My friend and I were first timers here and we're definitely disappointed.
Our server was nice, she did apologize and gave us a free glass of wine, she also seemed overwhelmed since she was the only server who was working so I did symphasize with her bc she was doing the best she could. I only wish she would have told us what they were out of before we had been waiting for 20 minutes for her to greet us because we most likely would have went elsewhere.
Over all this place isn’t bad. It was very loud but they turned the music down when we asked. The unlimited mimosas are a pretty good deal at $19 with purchase of an entree. The chicken and waffles were half really good crisp juicy chicken and half frozen eggos. The bacon was delicious and well cooked but I wasn’t impressed with the sausage. The decor was really nice and the bathrooms were clean. I would go here again but would probably watch what I ordered.
Service was great and the place is pretty, but the food was bland and dry and disappointing. But the service was super.
They weren’t prepared for our party of 10, even though I had a reservation well in advance. Pretty disappointed in the service and the treatment we received.
There were two other HUGE parties that walked in and we immediately ignored for long periods of time. In the 2 hours we had brunch, I had 3 drinks...not ideal service.
I went to dinner with my son who goes to Georgetown Law - in walking distance. Very nice place with very good food and great service.
I love Philos. The staff is super chill, laid back and very polite. Can't wait to go back again!
Went there for our anniversary, and could not be happier. Nice selection and knowledgeable server. Helped us with selections and made the overall experience greatly enjoyable. Loved it!
Went with a large group and had a phenomenal experience. Food was prepared wonderfully and was at a good price given the quality. Could not recommend Philos more highly!!
Not a good time. We were disappointed in the menu for brunch, the service, and overall ambiance. Had a delicious appetizer plate but the waitress messed up our order and ended up with undercooked pancakes. Liquid center.
The garden mezze is so good. Really good food and fun restaurant.
Happened to stumble upon this restaurant while researching spots for a birthday dinner. It was typically what I was looking for since it specified small plates & wine. I never realized its' location since it is tucked in a corner but not that difficult to locate. Very cute intimate dining area but also has huge beautiful windows. There's an outdoor seating area too. My dinner party consisted of 6 people and really we were the only party there aside from a couple and someone sitting at the bar, granted it was a Monday. Our waitress, Nay/Nae, was super attentive and great the entire time! She helped set up surprise desserts for the birthday girl and made sure to check up on us periodically. We ordered 5 tapas which surprisingly was enough for all of us and a bottle of wine, yummy variety + veggie foods & definitely enough to share. It was all delicious and very reasonable for the price. Overall, our party enjoyed our visit and super interested in the brunch!
Service I bit slow but very friendly and super accommodating!
Food was excellent, atmosphere was quiet, service was not ideal - the waitress was probably new at her job but unfortunately very awkward, didn't place the dishes on the table but just handed them to us, did a lot of hovering by the table and rushing us through courses, even though the place had plenty of other seats and no one waiting for ours. The price was very reasonable and, again, the food was very good, so it was still a positive experience, but could have been really stellar with a better trained wait staff.
What a sad place. The menu is a hodgepodge of items-from meze to Tex Mex. All very mediocre and served slightly too cold. The service was friendly but disjointed and it wasn't even busy (and now I understand why.) With all the great restaurants in DC, don't bother with this one...
Small, fun atmosphere and good quality food. Attentive, friendly service.
We really enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner! Service was outstanding and the food was superb! All 6 of us ordered the prix fixe menu with different options and we all loved what we ordered!! We will be going back for sure!
The restaurant was pretty quiet when we walked in (7:00 on a Saturday night), but the lack of diners did not reflect the quality of the place. The food was quite good. I had the potato croquettes, sautéed mushrooms, and sautéed shrimp and found all to be tasty and fresh. My date had the lamb burger and was very happy. The prices were reasonable for the city. I'd recommend it to anyone.
not a lot of flavor ,good, but needs more mediterranean flavors, bloody mary needs a make over ,
They sat us right away, and the service was great. For a party of six, that's a tall order sometimes.
Again, my third visit in a week period and introduced more friends to this great little spot. It is rarely noisy, so a great place to get away and have a nice quiet meal. The food has that smoky grilled taste and flavor. Unfortunately, my favorite waiter was not working on the evening I was being served but service was still good. The staff is attentive, so you're sitting there waiting and wondering where the staff is. I tried the salmon dish and again found it a good dish, well flavored and not dry.
My first time at Philos, and was impressed. The food was very good, the staff were extremely pleasant and I would say a hidden jewel in the neighborhood. I will be returning!
This is the BEST brunch is DC hands down! Great Value, Outstanding Service, Yummy Food, and Fantastic Drinks - and all bottomless for a mere $35!!!
I won't be coming here again. The service was rude and patronizing.
Go for it! Great food and cool cocktail specials for happy hour.
We had a great time and great food at Philos. Many people haven't heard of it but it was such a good find. I wish it was still open for lunch. Sangria was delicious!
Fantastic food, and service. Portions are very filling, and great service.
The food was great as is the concept of small plate meals...greek tapas. Problem was only one server handling the main room and a very busy patio area. Did not help that the bar tender was more interested in chatting up the bar clientele rather than keeping an eye on the dining room.
Our 1st visit and they did not dissapoint ! We all had a lunch combo: 3 dip sampler with sandwich, fries, & drink. Very generous portions, food was hot, fries crispy as requested, and engaging service. I can't wait to return for dinner!
Our party of five had a wonderful dinner at Philos. We had a large variety of vegetable and meat small plates from which to choose and our server gave us great advise on how many to order. All of our selections were well prepared and very tasty. In addition to enjoying the food, our server and kitchen staff went above and beyond to accommodate the food allergy issues of one of the persons in our party. Although they were not requested to do so, the kitchen staff separated the dairy items in every dish where it was feasible so that every member of our group could enjoy as many dishes as possible. That was so appreciated!
Nothing exciting about this place and the food.
Nice decor and good food. Our server was super nice. Great place near Chinatown and away from the crowd.
absolutely phenomenal brunch spot for all to enjoy
This place's bottomless brunch is top-notch, wish I had a second stomach to try all their tasty food
I couldn't have asked for anything to be better. The all-you-can-drink brunch option was pretty incredible. Our waitress, Melissa, was really friendly, helpful, and quick to refill drinks!
Love this place. One of the best bottomless brunches you'll find in DC
Delicious food and great service! All you look for in your dining experience.
We went there for lunch and had a great meal. The buzz cheese dish is a fabulous appetizer and the lamburger is exceptional (perfectly cooked, very flavorful with an assortment of spices). Great service and reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend Philos.
We had a large group of 10 people and were able to all find something delicious to eat and drink. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows and great lighting. It is loud though since there is nothing to buffer the sound. The food was great with a Mediterranean flair.
