This was my first time going here and I was completely satisfied with the food. The crabs cakes were so good. Seafood was fresh and very tasteful.
The food was presented beautifully, cooked perfectly, and tasted delicious! Our waiter, Edgar, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the selections. The restaurant does not offer “sweet tea” but Edgar made sweet tea for me! The host was friendly and we were seated in a timely manner. The atmosphere was enjoyable. We took advantage of the $10 valet parking...awesome deal. We can’t wait to travel back...we’ll definitely eat there again!! Thank you!
I would have given them a 5 star - but I think there may have been MSG in the Crab and Mac & Chez. The wait staff was outstanding and the atmosphere was just what I needed after being at Coffeefest all day. Thanks for making Baltimore a place I want to come back to.
Phillips Seafood hosted the Baltimore Business Journal "Bix Mix". It was a nice business gathering event. The Phillips staff were friendly and professional. The food samples (Mini-Crab Cakes & Sliders) were excellent. The bartenders were on point 5-star service. Phillips is one of the marquee restaurants on The Charm'tastic Mile and they did a wonderful job representing their brand and the City of Baltimore. A job well-done by the entire staff. Thank you!
Phillips was really good. Authentic crab cakes and local beer were what we were looking for, and what we found! Service was good, vibe was good. We went for a late lunch during a work trip to Baltimore. I recommend!
This was one of the best dining experiences ever. Reservations are taken. Immediately seated at my reservation time. Took a minute for our server to free up, but he communicated with us immediately. All of our meal was awesome. Server was superb. Nice ambiance as well. A little loud, but that’s to be expected from a full, bustling restaurant. Server was obviously smitten by my lady...but she’s fine 😍
Phillips was good, but not great. There were several things I considered in my review: food, service, seating, and quality.
Food- While the food flavor was great, it was a bit overpriced. I enjoy fine dining as much as the next and am not one to balk at cost, but the portion sizes were pretty small for the prize. This was something my waitress openly spoke to when helping us decide what to eat.
Service- Our waitress was very friendly and very helpful when we asked her questions not only about the food, but also about the surrounding area of the inner harbor.
Seats- Our seat was the very back booth by the kitchen, and one waitress chose to fully kick the doors open every time she entered the kitchen (which was frequently throughout our meal). This was frustrating and disruptive to our conversation which came off as a bit disrespectful. That aside, our seat kept us cut off from the atmosphere of the restaurant, and made it a bit hard for our (great) waitress to check back on us which left a bit of a wait between refills, etc. Should you come to Phillips, avoid this table if at all possible.
Quality- Overall, Phillips was "good". It didn't go about and beyond, the menu isn't extensive, but the food and service was good. Again, the prices were a bit high for what you get in return, but happy hour and specials might make the price more worth it. I definitely recommend a reservation, and sharing a bunch of appetizers may be a good way to get more bang for your buck while trying a bigger selection of food.
I'm from NYC and every time I come to Baltimore I must go to Phillips for the clam bake. Best around.
Nice location and plenty of parking around. Food was excellent and staff was very attentive. Priced as expected with good portions.
My husband and I visited this restaurant for date night while in Baltimore. It was wonderful. I have a smaller appetite these days and they gave him the steak he ordered and added a 7-ounce lobster for $20 . It was perfect for me. Our waiter, Jeremy was top-notch. The general manager comes by and visits with you to make sure everything is okay. I will definitely visit this place when in Baltimore again.
Service was slow. Food was bad. Greatly overpriced for quality. I look for good food, regardless of the price. Your restaurant was very lacking. The clams were greasy, the fries were soft. The crabcake was soft. The soup was cold. Huge disappointment.
It was great! The food was great. The service staff was very attentive and answered all of our questions.
Reservations recommended, even hours before: walk-ins had a long wait. Good was excellent, but the menu is limited. Delivery of drinks was slow, but service was very good otherwise.
Ordered drinks and appetizers, after 30 minutes mentioned to waitress about the appetizers, she said it would be in a minute, no appetizers. Meal arrived, still no appetizers, mentioned to the server and he had no idea.
Finally the waitress came over, apologized and had them brought to us after we were half way done our meal.
Waitress then blamed it on the kitchen staff and said her manager would be over. no manager appeared. Surprise!!
No Phillips for us again. McCormick $ Schmidt will get our business
Decent experience. Food was relatively good. A bit noisy, bit to be expected given its location and reputation.
Long wait times for food, drinks and drink refills even though the restaurant wasn't busy with lots of open tables. I asked for lime wedges with each drink and the waitress forgot both times. Had to go get them myself. Food was good, however, salad preparation is unusual. Instead of mixing ingredients together everything is chopped up and severed in separate piles on the plate. You then have to assemble your own salad. This was my entree so it was a large salad with grilled chicken. Never seen it done this way before and I've eaten lots of salads. Honesty it's annoying to try and mix your salad together on a dinner plate. In my opinion the salad should be mixed together before serving.
Hadn't been to Phillips in many years and my previous experience was that it was essentially a chain restaurant, with the corresponding quality of food and service. Had relatively low expectations for this location in a very touristy area. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and very attentive service.
We were here for my sister in law's birthday. Although the meals were a bit expensive, everyone enjoyed their meals.
Our waiter Steven B was super friendly and very attentive. He had a ton of tables but you wouldn't know it because he was quick to bring drinks and our check. Best service we've ever had. Place was very authentic and comfy. The stuffed shrimp was filling and delicious, seasoned perfectly. My husband loved the fish and chips and it was so much food, he couldn't finish it. We spent a little more than we normally would but we were on a weekend trip and I wanted fresh seafood. Highly recommend this place!
Service was slow but once the waiter arrived he was very nice and courteous. Food was very expensive. I had the seafood platter and honestly it tasted like Red Lobster. Others with me had crab cakes and said they were excellent and crab stuffed shrimp which they also said was excellent. Maybe I just picked the wrong item but I way over paid for mediocre
Our friends from out of state wanted seafood, so we choose Phillips. I'm am so embarrassed to have taken our quests to this restaurant. Our service was extremely poor and one order incorrect. The poor service or lack there of continued the entire meal yet he was very attentive to his other customers. All in the party of five were pleasant to this waiter. All of us are still trying to figure out what was his problem. At the end of our meal, one person in the party did say our service was poor and he responded in a very rude manner. Management did not charge for the incorrect order which was good. Crab cakes are good. Sides too salty for my taste. I live near the inner harbor but will NEVER go back!
Great seafood always wins my wife's heart, especially crab. Had reservations for a specific time and was very early. Was seated right away with no major issues. We both wanted crab legs, the Clam bake was just way to much for us to eat, so we got the Catch. Wife does not like clams/mussels, so gave her the crab legs and ate the clams/mussels. We both shared the shrimp and one lobster.
So, if a couples going there for any special occasion, just order appetizer and The Catch. But if come to eat, then by all means get the Clam Bake.
The special occasion for us was a combine of anniversary, birthday and Valentines.
Food was great
It was delicious! Our waiter was very attentive and very informative of the menu. He was busy, we could see, but he took the time to check on us several times. Excellent waiter.
Food very good waiter was excellent music was great
Amazing Maryland seafood with great service that could handle the party I was with. Great location as well.
The food and staff are definitely better than 5 stars more like 10 stars. Our server Ziray was phenomenal. I drove from Pittsburgh to Baltimore for my wife and my anniversary, this is our go to restaurant when we go back to Baltimore.
Dinner with wife for early valentine dinner.
Ordered a ginger ale, and never received it. Clams and mussels tasted like they both still had sand in them. Really that salty. Scallops had NOOOOO seasoning smh. I won’t be coming back.
Very disappointed by prices and quality of meal. our dish was $30/person, but knowing seafood prices, our dish was only worth $27, so my fiancé and i walked away unsatisfied and still hungry. Everything was cold, had a bad fishy smell (like the food had been sitting out), and taste was not good.
Well established restaurant with a reputatiion for excellent seafood. Highly disappointed to learn their shrimp was imported frozen shrimp from Thailand. For the prices they charge, the shrimp should at least be from the Gulf. Average entree is $30.
I will not return, nor will I recommend this restaurant. There are better, more affordable seafood places in the area.
Great specials and great services will go back again
I have been to Phillip’s a few times and never have been disappointed. We went in on Saturday evening and sat in the lounge. Live musician was awesome to go along with the food, beer, and wait staff. Overall a great experience from start to finish!
Food was fabulous with huge chunks of fresh crab in the soup, in the crab mac & cheese and no fillers in the crab cake. Delicious! Shane was a great server!
They have a lost a vet steps over the years....service was subpar - and it was slow. Friday night at 7:30 and place was almost empty. Used to be a great spot...not anymore
Good food, typical Phillips atmosphere.
Over all it was a nice atmosphere and the service was great but the food could have been a little better
Crab cake had a lot of shells! Kinda of cold breeze in the dining area but waiter was amazing!
My boyfriend and I ate at Phillips during Baltimore Restaurant Week. We were very disappointed with portions of our meal. My boyfriend’s steak was rare, even though he asked for medium. And the rolls and chocolate cake were very stale.
Ate dinner with my SO on Saturday night. Made reservation, but it was not full, so maybe I didn't need to. The specials, which you need to ask about because they don't give you the 'ole spiel when making introductions, is what really made our night. They have an off-season special Surf & Turf for 20 bucks. Its a 6 oz lobster tail & 4 oz filet mignon. It does not come with a side vegetable, but we ordered a side of mashed potatoes and it was a perfect dish for both of us, for about $50. The appetizer special, which was printed on a table tent on some but not all of the tables, was a Five Dollar Oyster & Crab Claw plate! Yes, I said $5.00, you get four oysters on the half shell and a dozen small pre-cracked and spiced crab claws. It was a great deal! Throw in a few craft beers on draft, tax & tip and it came to right around $100 for a date night at a waterfront seafood restaurant in the Inner Harbor.
