Phillips Seafood - Atlantic City Ratings and Reviews
We were at Phillips for my mother's 85th birthday dinner. Scott our waiter made our experience even better catering to her and making her special day even better! Food was very good, we all had the surf and turf special, meat was cooked to requested temp and lobster tail was tender. Highly recommend Phillips next visit to AC!
We had a great time. Saw the Surf and Turf Special advertised during the holidays and wanted to revisit Phillip's. We went on a Sunday evening. It was nice and quiet and avoided the weekend crowds. The house wine was great. The onion rolls were warm and tasty. The crab stuffed mushroom appetizer was fantastic. Some of the best ever had. The wedge salad came out in a timely manner with plenty of time to enjoy. The timing of our entrees was perfect. At no time did we feel rushed or hurried as if they wanted to get us in and out. Our server Mason was the greatest. Knew the menu, appetizers, wines, sides, specials, you name it. Great dessert as well. Fun time for a Sunday night date night. Can't wait to go back.
Worst meal I've ever had in Atlantic City. First, my waiter and another waiter stood by the bar basically hanging out with people they apparently knew personally. Finally comes over to take orders. Appetizer was already on the table when the waiter finally remembered to take our dinner order.
As far as the food, we ordered the hot sampler appetizer. Fried calamari was hard like it had been left in an oven all day. Stuffed mushrooms were good. Crabcake was ok. At this point my wife had gone from being very excited about a filet dish on the menu to so disgusted she only ordered a caesar salad for dinner. I ordered broiled seafood platter. On mine there was shrimp that was ok, salmon that was decent except for a mushy spot, and a tiny dried out lobster tail. Her caesar dressing tasted like flavored mayonnaise. Two days later both of our stomachs are still not right.
We did complain and they took our $18 for drinks off, leaving us with a wasted $90 dinner tab. Never ever again.
we love phillips atlantic city! go there twice a year when we stay at Caesars resort. no need to go outside. great views of the ocean and sunsets! Birthdays are great. free cake and a birthday card with a return "gift" inside. We usually get Brandon as our waiter. He is so great and attentive!
The look and feel of the restaurant is different in a good way. It's open feel, design elements and ambiance create a desire to look around and enjoy different views. The staff is friendly and caring without being annoying. Unfortunately, the food is lacking. Our appetizer of crab, artichoke and spinach dip was delicious but our main courses were bland and tasteless. I ordered the fried seafood platter which has fish, shrimp, crab cake and fries. The crab cake was probably the best item but I've had better from several other places. The fish had zero flavor. My wife ordered fish (I can't remember what exactly) and she was equally disappointed.
This place has 5 star prices with 1 star taste.
Not only is the food great at Phillips, but the service is outstanding. My girlfriend and I drive to Atlantic City from Delaware to patronize Phillips. On this last occasion there is a certain type of chicken wing that my girlfriend loves, but it's off the menu now. They were very accommodating and made that adjustment so it will be a special night for her. Not many restaurants will put something on the menu that has been taken off, but they did it because it was special for her.
Stuff sometimes happens, but a lot of it happened at my dinner at Phillips in Atlantic City on Oct. 16. First the waitress arrived at my table with several glasses of wine, one of which fell over, dumping wine all over the next table (but fortunately missing me). Then the oysters on the half shell went MIA. I did like the Caesar salad and the shrimp scampi over pasta entree, however, and would recommend them.
We had a very nice meal overlooking the ocean but also open to the walkway to another restaurant so a bit of passing foot traffic. Food was great and we enjoyed the current special of 6oz filet mignon and a 6oz lobster tail or 1/2 lb snow crab legs for $19.95!!! Sides are extra if wanted but this price was amazing for the quality of food you got. Regular menu prices are high than we normally spend so may not return only for that reason. Mom added $3 asparagus which she loved and I had crab mac and cheese for $8 which was very good even tho a bit rich! Our server was very nice and all servers help out and were very attentive. It's off season so a busy time could be different but overall we were pleased with our "splurge."
We were really disappointed. We've been dining at Phillips Restaurants since the 1960s when they only had a location in Maryland. The restaurant has really gone down hill. They used to serve fresh, high quality seafood but the crab in our crab cakes tasted fishey and was spoiled. The crab cakes themselves had more filler than actual crab meat and came burnt. Phillips used to have great crab cake but these were more filler cakes.
Made reservations for me and my wife back in September for a special birthday dinner for my wife and I for Thursday night at 730pm on10/5/17, my wife ordered the shrimp scampi and asked to substitute scallops for the shrimp ,$10 up charge(a little pricey) and I ordered the fried seafood combo which was pretty good until I tasted your world famous crab cake (absolutely cold!!) and needed to send it back TWICE!!! by a waiter who I had to walk around and find TWICE!!! my wife received a free slice of cake with a candle (I guess because it was free it was suppose to compensate for the cold crab cake I sent back TWICE!!!) apology was given by the hostess but no one offered anything off the bill. While the food was good the experience was very disappointing considering that it was supposed to be a special night for my wife and a little to pricey for the service, I’ve been to Phillips restaurant before in a different city and had a better experience and better food, i don’t think I’ll be going back to Phillips in A.C. anytime soon.
While the food was good, it was certainly over priced. I dined with three other friends and we all agreed the portions were small and not worth the price. Our server was attentive and helpful. I would recommend going for happy hour or when they are running a special.
I went with the Rib Eye steak and ordered the Lobster Tail add on , the Steak was delicious, the Lobster Tail came out cold and was sent back, the second tail was warm but for $20.00 it wasn't even as large as my neighborhood supermarkets 4.99 tails. Very disappointed with the Lobster tail
