Phil Stefani's 437 Rush has a creative menu that consists of traditional homemade favorites including, prime cuts of steak, charcuterie, raw bar options and numerous pasta dishes. Phil Stefani's 437 Rush also offers guests an extensive wine and cocktail list.
We returned to Phil Stefani's 437 because of the very good food, service and ambiance. When we entered on the Saturday evening at 8pm, I was shocked not to see the typical busy environment. Our group of 6 had a very good dinner. The service was excellent. Disappointed to learn that this was the last week for the restaurant before it closed its door.
Food was service was great everyone at the table loved what they got. Would recommend to anyone.
We make it a point to eat at this restaurant every time we are in Chicago. I am devoted to their "Tomahawk Rib Eye" which never fails to please. Appetizers are great (this time we shared the Bruschetta and the Mozzarella and tomatoes). Salads are generous and very good. we make sure to make room for at least some dessert.
Our only regret is that we don't live in Chicago so we can dine here more often
A good choice for a great bar area, decent food and a good atmosphere.
We love coming to 437!! The service is always the best! I can't say enough about the service; extremely attentive without being overbearing. And the food.... OH MY.... fantastic and a wide variety. From salad to appetizers to main courses to deserts....... the food is fantastic. I've had steaks, seafood, sandwiches and more..... I love it all.
This past time, I had the salmon and it was fantastic! Prepared perfectly! Hard to believe I could get seafood and not steak and be so happy, but it was that good!
I highly recommend 437!!!!
Great prime filets cooked perfectly. All of the sides are shareable in size. Good cocktails and excellent service.
Out of towner couple spending our NYE in Chicago. Got in the hunt for a dinner spot kind of late but still about 10 days out and favorite spots were already booked. Found 437 Rush on Open Table and it fit the bill perfectly as it was an Italian Steakhouse, not just one or the other! We were never to any of the Stefani establishments so didn't know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. Top notch! We sat in a booth in the bar area and at least one of us was very happy to see the college games on TV from our table. We dined on petite filet and ribeye both cooked to perfection, shared the large salad, had the mushrooms and brussel sprouts as sides. We had no left-overs! Staff made us feel very welcome on our first visit. We will definitely return again to try the Italian side of the menu.
I have been to this restaurant in the past but I have not been there in the last two years.
Even though the food and service was good this restaurant has definitely lost some of its luster.
With all the great eating spots in Chicago, I don't know that I would visit this establishment any
time soon.
The steak was good, but not outstanding...there are much better choices in Chicago. The service was good, but nothing special. The atmosphere was nice, but not noteworthy. This is just an average experience. I was kicking myself that in walking distance is Shaw's and Joe's. Go to either one of those places for a dining experience to talk about.
My client suggested this place as it was near him but he hadn't been there. The service was tremendous and the food was equally good. I would definitely recommend it. I hope it does well as lunch was very slow.
Its been years since I've dined here and I am angry that it took so long to get back. Our server was amazing and the atmosphere is warm and lively. The food is spectacular and the wine list is broad with something for all tastes and price ranges.
Great service and attention to detail.
The only complaint I have is that they stuck my wife and myself in a small corner table that we had to use bench seating with and was not the most comfortable.
My husband and I always dine here on our trips to Chicago. I especially appreciate the warm ambiance on cool, rainy evenings-it is welcoming and I always enjoy the "family-like" feel. Great steaks and pasta.
The food and service was great. The wine list was a little intimidating but out server was a great help. This is definitely a place for a date night. I would not recommend bringing the kids as the menu is more for adults. I think the chef did an outstanding job on the food. Everything was delicious.
Rude and the service was good also .
More of a business mans steakhouse than a romantic restaurant
Very good location.
One of the best shanks I've had in years, complimented by fine pairings. My wife had the filet done to perfection.
A GEM!!
First visit to Phil's and was not disappointed. The Sea Bass was great, cooked to perfection! Service was fantastic and the place was hopping!
Would recommend this to anyone if you are in Chicago!
Bar service was very good. I spent an hour at the bar before the rest of my party arrived. Food was presented well, prepared as ordered and tasted great. Service was good, well attended to.
excellent restaurant : great food, professional management and attentive service
Food was great and our server was pleasant and knowledgeable
Spur of the moment decision to dine here. Glad we made it. Not crowded, good food and atmosphere allowed us to catch up without having to speak loudly. All three of us ordered Italian and we all enjoyed our meal.
I did not get the steak on the rib bone, but we saw it being delivered to another table, and it is literally a steak on a 2 - 3 foot rib bone. It looked amazing. All of the food we ate was amazingly delicious. We ate their for a girls night out, and everyone cleaned their plate. We had the cheese tray as an appetizer, and we each ordered a meal and each cleaned our plates (practically licked the plates). I still want that steak on the rib bone, and I will be back to order it.
Your review process is too cumberson....my comments are over
The service was great. The waitress was very friendly and helped us out, with our dinner choices. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Both of our pasta dishes were excellent!! Even though my boyfriend ordered his steak medium-well and it was a little more pink than he wanted, both of our steaks were tender, juicy, and the rosemary sauce was to die for!! Two thumbs up!! Will go again...
Phil Stefani's used to be a great place. Either we were there on a real off night or it's changed substantially for the worse. The shrimp cocktail used to be fabulous - this time we had to send it back. And the entrees were no bargain either.
The staff even set us up at a table so that we could keep in touch with the Clemson/Notre Dame game that night bb
Service for dinner was inconsistent. Ordered a steak and it was a bit under cooked but not a big issue. Did not seem to have the daily specials as a few weeks ago or I simply missed them.
I ate there a few weeks earlier and the service was better and specials seemed better.
Next time I will focus on the specials.
Not the traditional Italian restaurant we had expected with standard pasta dishes but when asked to accommodate a simple dish, Miguel our waiter was great. The night ended up better than expected. Definitely a return trip is in the future.
My "foodie" friend recommended Phil Stefani's for out recent trip to Chicago. My husband and I were not disappointed. I enjoyed the lobster bisque soup and Sicilia sea bass. My husband had steak and we were both raving about the taste from the first bite! (and generally my husband says, "It's ok"). We both got dessert (something my husband also never does) and wow! The only thing I will do next time is get a soup or Salas so that I can have room for every bite of my entree and tiramasu!
I've raved about the food but the service was amazing too. Polite, suggestions if wanted and needs anticipated.
Definitely pricey compared to our norm but the last time we were in Chicago was 3 years ago! Worth the price.
We chose this restaurant based on their online menu and proximity to our hotel, The Gwen. We were 100% pleased with our food and our service. We ordered two of the nightly specials, a seafood risotto and a seafood mixed grill, based on our very helpful waiter's suggestions. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were excellent. We hope to eat here again!
Our dinners were excellent: chilean sea bass, whitefish; & risotto with sausage. I asked for anchovies to top for a very good caesar salad. My cannolis, having the right amount of sweetness, topped off an excellent dinner.
The only debit was an acidic tasting chopped vegetable salad.
The bar crowd left shortly after we were seated; but with the wrong timing that could be an issue since there is not a full wall separating the dining room .
Wine list has some affordable options.
We enjoyed the entire experience. A drink at the bar was served by a friendly bartender. Enjoyed the food and service. A very relaxing Friday after work meal.
Warm ambience. Excellent service. Great food. Wish I had saved room for dessert.
Food and service was excellent. Our waiter was wonderful!
The service was great the variety in the food was very good and the quality of the food was excellent. My Filet was cooked just right and plenty for 8 oz. The twice bakes side was very good and my wife's braised rib ravioli were fantastic. The glasses of wine offered were good and the prices were very reasonable. Overall great place and convent location if your in the city.
Always great
Not part of "the Rush street scene" like many restaurants a few blocks north, but the food & service were absolutely fabulous.
At the bottom of Rush Street is a good Italian restaurant. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The food is better. My wife especially enjoyed the sea bass-- how it was prepared and how it was presented! A place to return to!
Always a pleasure to dine here. It's become our go to place to celebratory dinners, and while we only go there a few times a year, we're always welcomed back. For example, waiters not serving us, but who have in the past, come by to say hello, and often have specific remembrances of our last visit. Plus, the food is fantastic, and it's in the space that used to be the fabled Riccardo's.
