Petterino's Ratings and Reviews
A very lively established CHICAGO restaurant that allows one to step back in time and enjoy the dining experience of yesteryear and the who's who of Chicago by admiring the caricatures on the walls. It offers some old favorites along with new and interesting plating. Ideal and most convenient spot for those who attend the theater. The waiters understand time constraints and are truly professional and well trained. Enjoy the pre-fixe menu and the large selection of beverage offerings.
We were attending the theater and had dinner before our show. It was very good, I had the Prix Fixe menu (which is a very good variety and large portions) and my boyfriend ordered steak from the regular menu. Everything was delicious, we love the ambience & will definitely return!
Took my daughter for lunch and the theater. Our server was exceptional! Terrific at being there when needed and taking care of us but not interupting our conversation. Was a wonderful day downtown. Used their valet parking. A wonderful gentleman took care if parking our car and told me exactly where it was being parked, and actually brought the keys inside to our table. I highly recommend Petterino's for any occassion
Service was excellent, staff very attentive and professional. I chose the rainbow trout, which was very delicious. My friend and I visit Petterino’s often before our Goodman subscription evenings. We both highly recommend this unique, delightful dining spot located at the center of Chicago’s vibrant theatre district downtown.
Petterino's is usually so-so, but next door to the Goodman Theatre. This time, however, the food was outstanding and we hope it signals a permanent improvement, because it's in the perfect location, and it has a very good menu.
Service was fair, which matches the staff having to deal with the crazy rush of pre-Goodman eaters, followed by a super slowdown.
Petterino's is our go-to place for dinner and discussion after a Goodman matinee. Convenient to the theater, you don't even have to go outside. The super club decor and menu are very nice. You can always find something you like on the menu. Cocktail and wine list are good too.
SUPER SERVICE...made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. Fun to sit at bar while waiting for table. Great wine options...dinner was YUMMY! Every dish was fresh, tasty, perfectly seasoned. Plenty of veggie options, chef is very accommodating.
Relaxing evening...even though they were crowded, we never felt rushed. Plenty of time to linger over dessert and coffee!
Have never been disappointed at Petterino's. This was our 1st brunch experience. Their rendition of crab cakes benedict was outstanding. The choose your own ingredient omelette was also quite good. They didn't forget that it was the birthday of one of our small group and presented her with birthday dessert options. Appreciated the never ending cups of hot chocolate.
I've dined at Peterino's a handful of times and have always enjoyed the experience. It's so wonderfully located in the theatre district -- it's perfect for a pre-theatre meal. This time, though, the vote was split on the food. My companion loved the crusted tilapia and it looked wonderful. I ordered the country pasta dish and it was horribly salty. The waiter took it back without hesitation and told me that the chef agreed with me. I then ordered the second pasta dish on the menu and, although it wasn't heavily over-salted, I didn't care much for this dish either. It was supposed to contain Italian sausage, and it did, in granular amounts -- a pretty pedestrian dish. But I ate if dutifully. Lesson for me: Order something other than pasta next time. There are many very good dishes on the menu. Plus the atmosphere and service are terrific. See how many caricatures on the walls you can identify.
Petterino's was so accommodating. We were stuck in traffic and had to push back our reservation by a half hour. Not only did they do that for us, but still got us out on time for the play we were going to see in a little over an hour. Our server made the experience so pleasant. The food was fantastic and every table was taken by 6 pm and you could still hear your party. This was important as some of our diners were older and can't hear so much in restaurants that are busy and active!
Always an easy and convenient pick for Goodman pre theater
I had made the reservation far in advance knowing how those or show seats fill up early
When we arrived w were told we had to wait 15 minutes for our table In the main dining room
The hostess staff was annoyed and not attentive.
The service was below par and our drinks orders and simple extra requests were not promptly acknowledged.
Our dinner was average.
It was super bowl Sunday, the staff seemed like they would rather have been at a party with friends and that the diners were an I convenience.
Oh well....it’s still the easiest Goodman option , but Sunday night was not Petterino’s best performance.
