Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
Great for before a show
Service and food superb😊
Always a great meal - tasty food and fantastic service
Petterinos never disappoints. Great experience. Delicious food and drink. Love the tomato bisque soup. Our server was wonderful. We enjoyed our meal without being rushed with plenty of time to make it to the theater.
Wonderful service. Excellent Food. Will definitely be back.
Petterinos is always a great experience.
I hadn't been to Petterino's in a couple of years but brought friends from Florida after theater. Our server and the manager were both excellent - so accomodating to my friend's onion allergy and very friendly and helpful. My friends were VERY impressed. Thanks!
Sunday brunch and a matinee. The service is always good and the food is excellent. They never rush you.
First time there. good food, fast service, good wait staff.
As always good and service exceptional. Daniel, our waiter was friendly, helpful, engaging and all that you wish every server would be. The manager was professional and went out of his way when we had to leave early (we were late getting to restaurant due to city traffic) immediately after entrees so that we masses curtain call. Their caring was appreciated and is just another reason why Petterino’s is our go to place for theatre dining.
Fantastic food and service. Out table was next to the kitchen door. The thump every 20-50 seconds took away from an otherwise exemplary experience.
Although we arrived 15 minutes early for our 5:15 reservation, we were seated immediately. Our perfectly mixed martinis were our appetizer. My husband enjoyed trout for his main course and I had delicious sea scallops. Portions were perfect, leaving just enough room for us to split the pleasingly tart key lime pie. Service was good; attentive, but not hovering. A delightful experience.
Nice ambiance, food was good, the service was good till the end. I had asked to redeem points from my Lettuce Entertain you card ($20). Our total was $194 we asked to have the $20 taken off and we paid $210 in cash- leaving our waitress with a $38 tip once we redeemed the money and the tax got adjusted. I let know we “were all set”. She came back a few minutes later with $16 in change, visibly upset and stormed off, to the point where I had to get up to follow her to see what happened. She was at a computer in the room where you come in for take out and I asked her why she only had $16 left. She said that’s all that was left, she wouldn’t look at me and was being very rude—I showed her on the receipt where I had put down a redemption code as well as the amount of money to be redeemed. She said she didn’t see that as she didn’t take the receipt out off the billfold. She never took accountability or responsibility for her juvenile behavior when she thought she was getting a bad tip. She just said she’d fix it. Really ruined the experience and as a result I will not be back, which is unfortunate as we frequent the theatre and it’s so convenient.
I would dine at Petterino's again and recommend to a friend primarily for the location - convenient to theatre and the staff are used to accommodating theatre time schedules. I did not have the best experience this time - my friend ordered the daily special only to be informed later that they did not actually have the daily special that day. The staff was bustling about - super busy before a Goodman matinee - but the rushed movement near our table resulted in some near collisions and ended up knocking the menu into my silverware and onto the floor without any acknowledgement or replacement. I would have given a "FAIR" rating for service, but our server was only on his second day of work and the mishaps were not due to his personal level of attention. The food was good, but overall I felt the dining experience was not relaxing.
While we were very pleased with our food and service, we had a problem with the Valet... I called ahead to make sure that if we used the valet service, we would be able to come back after our evening at the theater to retrieve our car. They told me yes, so I happily used the valet service. When we came back after the show, the gentleman working the stand handed me my keys, pointed down the block to the location of my car and told me I had to go get it! The entire point of me using valet was to limit the amount of walking I did as I have a bad back. I was already in quite a bit of pain at this point. I’m sure the valet is not run by Petterino’s, but you do contract them, so this reflects on you. Bad choice in companies. I won’t be using them again. And, this also effects my ability to go to your restaurant again, which is a shame, because it was lovely.
Everything was great. My only complaint is that they offer to hold your leftovers until after the show, if you’re attending a play. If they are closed when you get back the valet was supposed to be able to get your food for you. When I went back the valet told me he couldn’t get it for me. We had a lot of leftovers. Pretty disappointed. Don’t offer that service if you can’t follow through on it.
The booth - right next to the kitchen door was not optimal - otherwise good-
Sat on the main aisle so a little distracting. Very loud at first until theatre crowd left
Great service, good food. Will go there again. Especially good for pre-theatre.
Prix fixe menu is perfect for theatre goers. Key Lime pie is fantastic. Service was great and friendly. Definitely traditional Italian that has not gone out of style.
Told them that it was our 32nd anniversary and would like a special cozy area to eat. Ignored my request. Seated at tiny table for two surrounded by other small tables, which had to be moved in and out to allow those on the bench side to be seated. Could hear everyone around us talking LOUDLY. So much for our special evening...
My husband travels to Chicago once monthly for business. I decided to go with him this time. We will not be returning to Petterino's.
Menu is small.
Interesting bread. Stuffed mushrooms were very good. Chicken pot pie crust flaky, chicken chewy. Alfredo Fettuccine too dry.
We had reservations for 4 after seeing a musical. I was disappointed that we were not seated in the dining room. There is a little what I call an alcove with about 10 tables that is right inside the door. Waiting diners and people constantly walking to the restroom make this area very loud and not an enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend requesting an actual dining room table when making a reservation because it really changes your experience.
Petterino's is one of my favorite places. My shrimp fettucini was excellent while it was hot, it got cold quickly as we were sitting underneath a vent with the air on. We did not receive butter with our bread, nor did the waiter, Tim D, remember to bring my Coke...at all. We were there for over an hour and he never mentioned it. His attitude seemed as though he tried to be professional but his actions suggested he may have been tired and/or frustrated. It was Mother's Day. The reception desk was very polite and the water never stopped coming. So kudos to them and the chef. I'm sure I'll return, and I hope not to catch Tim D on a bad day.
For our first visit to Petterinos, they had us charmed the second we walked in, it smelled amazing! For the service, it was well managed, but for the food of course it was really good, they had many options and did not take long to cook. Overall I would tend to recommend this restaurant for ones with families and ones who would enjoy something as a simple celebration! I would recommend!
Always great! And the perfect atmosphere and energy for a pre-theater lunch!
Had a reservation for 5 but was given a booth designed for 3 people in the bar area. Was told it was because “two of our servers are late for work”. Waiter and food were good but the table situation ruined an otherwise good meal.
Great food! Wasn't impressed with our server's response to the question "what would you order?" "what is your favorite thing on the menu". She responded "I don't have favorite".
We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to come back. The food was delicious and served promptly and graciously. Our wonderful server even included a slice of cake and complimentary coffee at the end.
Our waiter was slow, unfriendly and forgetful. It was busy but not packed. My fish was over cooked and my wife’s chicken was undercooked. Had to ask for bread 3x. Coffee was weak and Luke warm. Very disappointed
Friendly staff, delicious food, fun atmosphere. This restaurant never disappoints.
Great food. Glad we got there as the theatre crowd left (it's a bustling place before 7:30), had a nice quiet dinner with a excellent array of choices and peppermint ice cream to top it off!
Petterino’s is our go to place before Goodman. Must have been an off evening. Hostess was not overly friendly and confused our reservations with someone else with the same first name. My meal which I order many times when at Petterino’s seemed to be thrown on the plate and the chicken on it was not good at all. Just off. I did not eat it. Everyone else at the table seemed seemed to have a fine meal. I also felt like we were being rushed. It was not overly crowded, people were not waiting but still felt rushed. I have written many reviews for Petterino’s and this is the first not good experience I have had there. Hope it’s just a fluke.
I would recommend them because it is a good place to have a great time
Petterino's is one of our favorite restaurants ... consistently good. Today, the reception was excellent as always. Reservation on hand. Table waiting. Server service was somewhat slow, and inattentive. Not busy at the time, but very long time taking the order. Iced tea was packed with ice although light ice requested. Salad came without side of grilled chicken as ordered. Bus service pleasant and attentive throughout. Salad plate too small for contents. Shortcomings were quickly and resolved, and overall experience enjoyable, however not up to usual high standards.
Great place for pre-theatre dinner - they know how to get you in and out with our rushing you through your meal
The food was pretty lame—overdone fish and bland pasta. The waitress confirmed we were going to the theater but then didn’t ensure our dinner was timely even though we had over an hour.
Great food. Great drinks. Dinner before the Theater was peefect. I will be back.
Everything went well. We had a change in servers and was not quite sure why that happened. There was a party near my table with a small child who kept throwing and kept breaking plates. Very distracting and took away from my dining experience.
Great atmosphere and location, food was good overall but grilled chicken was burnt. Waiter did not act like he wanted to be there.
Absolutely the ONLY place you should go to before a Theater Show! We were there before the Al Green Show. The food was amazing! My Italian Aunt said it was the best Ravioli she has had in years. We did the Pre-Fixe and the Almond Crusted White Fish was delicious and generous portion. We capped it off with Ice Cream and there was nothing left! Great service, and she was making sure everyone got what they needed to make the show in time. Just an overall great experience, great food, and super atmosphere.
