Had a great time.
Excellent service and excellent food!!!
We had dinner before the musical, Pretty Woman. Wait staff was attentive, service was prompt, food was delicious, and we had plenty of time to walk the few steps to the Oriental theater for the musical.
The salad two of us ordered did not have the ingredients that were listed the menu. By the time the waitress came, which was a while, we told her and her reply was you ate it all. We asked for an adjustment on the bill and she flat said no, but she would tell the chef. Also they brought me a plate with salmon and I ordered trout. All and all not a good experience. We have been there before and had a good experience but I do not think I would go back again .
Petterino's is consistently good. The food and service are good and I find them a good value. They are a good pre-theatre or friends get together over lunch option.
As always, Petterino's was great and they always do their best to accommodate requests. Our food was wonderful and cooked as ordered. The waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive. I know I can count on this restaurant to consistently provide good food and great service. It is our go-to place when we are going to the theatre.
Petterino's has always been a good pre-theater restaurant. They're very efficient and get you in and out quickly. This most recent visit, however, was not up to its usual standards. One of us had French fries as a side. They arrived old and cold. The waiter who was very solicitous and hovering prior to the entrees being delivered was too busy to check on us until it was too late to get the fries replaced. In addition, the tomato bisque, which is generally outstanding, was still good, but not quite as good as usual - more acidic and less sweet. We both had chicken dishes. They were fine.
Steak was over cooked. I don’t think we should have to ask for lemon for our water, and wait staff to remove plates too quick. Felt rushed Waiter had too many tables. This place needs more help. I love the Lettuce entertain you group but this place is not comfortable and over crowded.
It was very crowded!
We have been going here for over 10 years because of the Goodman theater. This is the first time we have had such terrible service. Our waiter never came back to ask about our food so we were unable to tell him one order was burnt, and two orders came out cold. One order had eggs that were so overcooked they could not be eaten. I hope this will not happen again.
2 couples were celebrating Anniversaries, this was noted upon making reservations. A complimentary drink or dessert would have been nice to help celebrate. We were handed “Brunch” menus. Although that’s a nice idea, we were there for lunch/dinner options. At first we were told Brunch was all that was being served. It was 12 noon when we were there so we did not want Brunch. After speaking with the manager, we were able to get “Dinner” menus. Lunch Menus should be offered 7 days a week. Disappointed in Petterino’s. With this establishment being close to the theatre , I’m sure there’s a lot of customers coming in on weekends. Why ask customers if they are there celebrating if your not going to offer something to them?
A great place where they never rush you before going to the Goodman and the food selection is great, portions are big and cocktails are good, too. I enjoy eating there- it is always a treat.
David, our server, was very helpful and on top of things. My wife ordered the trout. She said it was outstanding. The entrée was off of the dinner menu, and while they didn't have the mashed potatoes to go with it, the chef came out (personally) to apologize. He suggested a great alternative and offered to pick up her drink in exchange.
I had the short rib hash and thought it to, was terrific. Nice atmosphere, although the tables are pretty close. If you are lookin to have a little privacy, try to get a booth.
Overall, a great place and excellent food!
Petterino's never disappoints. The meal is always superb and the service is second to none. Perfect place to go before the Theater downtown. They understand and respect your time.
Pre-theater dinner at Petterino’s was mediocre at best. I called the restaurant 6 hours earlier to tell them we would be arriving 90 minutes before our reservation. The female host said she could accept us as a walk-in and try to get us in close to our arrival time. When we arrived the woman had left and the male host was unaccommodating and rude. Much later I overheard him with other guests being similarly dismissive.
We ended up eating at a small high-top table at the bar. The restaurant’s menu is relatively limited and boring. The chicken parmesan tasted dry and pre-made as were all the other items we ordered. For instance I had a small chopped salad that tasted like it had been sitting open in a refrigerator for 2 days.
My suggestion is to go somewhere else.
Perfect pre theatre spot!
This restaurant is always a favorite before the theatre!
Really great service. Tasty food. Just a little loud for chatting with a bigger table. But it has a great vibe.
Waiter did not follow instructions for charging credit card and switched the cards upon returning them to us. This inconvenienced us because we had to meet to switch the cards back and had to work work to adjust incorrect charges.
Very good food and service. Waiter greeted us quickly and drinks brought promptly. Good food recommendations from staff.
Hadn't been there for quite awhile and was glad to reconnect with a fine restaurant.
A reliable pick for any pre-theater eaters. The menu features something for everyone.
Amazing as usual. We love John our preferred waiter. He provides fantastic service!
I recently dined at Petterino's after a gap of a few years and enjoyed it more than I had remembered. The positive experience may have been party due to our seating in a booth in a quieter part of the restaurant (the section closest to the Goodman Theatre). We also ordered several things from the specials menu (crispy burrata starter and scallops) which may have contributed to our feeling of having a "treat." I also really enjoyed the teriyaki salmon from the regular menu.
Pre-theater dinner with friends. Service was wonderful and food came out quickly. Wait staff was friendly and very helpful. Great pre-theater pre-fixe menu and everyone’s meals were delicious!
Attached to Goodman Theater, which was where we were seeing a play. Valet parked for $16 and our car was waiting for us when the play ended. Couldn’t have been more convenient! Highly recommend.
We selected Petterino's as it was mentioned on our Wait Wait Don't Tell Me tickets, as we wanted to have a nice meal before the show taping. The entire experience was all we hoped for. The location was a block from our parking and 2 blocks from the theater. The timing of our reservation (5:15) was perfect for our tickets. We were exactly on time and were seated immediately. The service of our waiter, John D., was prompt and efficient. The food was delicious. One of our party ordered from the Prix Fixe menu; the other 2 from the regular menu. All the selections were prepared as requested and served in a timely fashion. We were finished with the perfect amount of time to walk 2 blocks for our show. We would definitely eat here again or recommend it to friends.
Very good variety of choices. Wine choices were good. The service was attentive, personable and friendly. Altogether this was a pleasant dining experience. Thank you
Both my friend & I enjoyed the atmosphere & food. Our waiter was very helpful & made suggestions to help us decide on the great food. The filet mini burgers with horseradish was perfect for lunch. We can’t say enough about the creamy peppermint ice cream with hot fudge...it was superb!
I went as part of a girls outing and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Our waiter, John, was fabulous and the corner booth we were seated in was perfect. The food, the atmosphere, and the drinks were amazing. Thank you!
I have dined at this restaurant several times, as I am an avid theater patron. Petterino's is conveniently located around the corner from the Chicago Theater. I made a reservation for 8pm on Saturday March 3rd via Open Table. I specifically noted that if an earlier time became available I would appreciate an update. I arrived early to the restaurant and stated the same. The host was a tal,l handsome fellow who greeted us right away. The hostess acknowledged our request for early seating and stated it shouldn't be a problem. Perfect! So, we decided to have a drink at the bar. Delicious Prosecco and Cosmo. Meanwhile, at least a dozen other parties came in and were seated right away. Some I imagine had reservations while others clearly did not. Once the reservation time passed, I had to address the situation. I was getting a bit antsy since the doors to our comedy show opened at 9pm. We were promptly seated. Again, the same tall gentleman offered to get us a drink while we waited for our order to be taken. We decided to keep it simple and order burgers, mine being well done, my cousin's medium well. both came out like burnt charcoal briquettes. Unfortunately, there was no time to make mention of this since time was so limited. Usually, this establishment is right on the money especially with an extensive theater clientele having delicious food, courteous staff, timely service. I felt rushed and my meal left alot to be desired. Finally, per the website-restaurant patrons that arrived after 7pm were to receive complimentary valet parking, yet we got tagged $15 upon picking up our vehicle after the show. Presumably, disappointing experience overall.
Great place to dine before a show.
Outstanding food, very attentive service. Due to its popularity, it is always crowded and tends to be noisy. If you are looking for a cozy, quite, romantic place, this would not be it.
If you enjoy hustle and bustle of a famed restaurant, this is it.
Food is outstanding, servers very attentive (tho' sometimes seemed a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of clients). Crafted mixed drinks and micro beers are top of the line.
Pleasantly surprised by the new Saturday Brunch menu. Caifornia Omelet and Short Ribs Hash were excellent.
We were pleasantly surprised to learn upon our arrival that Petterino's is extending their brunch offering to include Saturday. We very much enjoyed the Maryland Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and the Avocado Toast.
When I booked the reservation, I indicated that it was for a birthday. I even told the waitress when we got there. She did nothing to celebrate my son's birthday and I was very disappointed. The service was very slow and we had to get to the theatre, so we didn't have time to say anything. I plan on calling the restaurant to voice my displeasure.
Delicious food, service a bit slow, ambiance exciting.
Food was ok as we did the pre dinner option. My mom and I could of shared one of them instead of getting two. Disappointed that I called to ask about valet and wasn't told the start time. So instead of paying $16 for valet I paid $40 for self park down the street.
As always, food was excellent. Our server Daniel was very attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu options. I love to take my friends her for birthday celebrations as the atmosphere is refined but the prices are reasonable.
Terrific business lunch, server Daniel was attentive to our time constraints and sensitive about interrupting conversation. I was pleased my request for a booth against the wall was honored, and the food was excellent, many options across mid-to-higher range prices and daily special at a good value.
Great food and service
