Great service and the Sunday Brunch is wonderful. Fun to see the Goodman theatre actors and various performers faces on the wall.
Food was excellent and very attentive staff.
We went for a pre-show birthday dinner. Our server (I’m sorry I don’t remember her name) was excellent! All the staff wished me a Happy Birthday, she even brought out a small cup of whipped cream with a candle. The peppermint ice cream is a must have dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed!
Perfect place to relax, enjoy great food, and celebrate with family and friends. We were celebrating my daughter's adoption and we couldn't have picked a more inviting setting.
Was very impressed; old school italian with excellent ambiance (liked the sketches of theater performers who’ve visited), a low volume buzz that was pleasant but not distracting. Great decor, and first rate service from the door on. Highly recommend the chicken parm; ruined my plans for dessert as I didn’t want to leave any left over. Definitely would come back.
Felt a bit rushed by the server who was on his way out for the evening. Aside from that, the meal was great!!!
We were amazed how crowded the restaurant was at 5:00 p.m. Figured it was a good thing that we had Open table reservations. Our busboy was outstanding, our waiter rarely seen. The pre-theater menu was a good value. The food was good, but not as good as other Lettuce Entertain You places.
Charming jazz atmosphere. Great service, great menu!
It is such a great fun place, love the bar and the delicious food.
We came for dinner after the Goodman Theater seeing "Enemy of the People" which was fantastic. The food and service was outstanding. Our server, Vanessa, was great. We of course will be back again.
Daniel was excellent server. People at your front desk are rather cold and I had reservations
Better than going to a New York restaurant on Broadway. Old World charm!Go early ,service slows as the restaurant fills up. Food was excellent.
I have been to Petterino's a few times before. This time was for a first date. I wanted a clean, established restaurant to have a nice dinner and have the opportunity to talk without having to shout. We got there about 3:30 PM on a Sunday afternoon.
Our booth was great. Our waiter was good for service, but abrupt in his demeanor and tone. There weren't that many other people dining, so I didn't understand the attitude.
The quality of the cocktails and food was first rate. The chicken pot-pie is amazing!
Parking is iffy at best. You'll be paying for downtown access.
Given the fact that we wanted 45 minutes and NEVER received our meal, we weren't very happy! The waiter never came by even after he took our order. I spoke with the manager and he is to send gift certificates. We have had slow service from time to time but this was unacceptable! Really eggs shouldn't take that long. We weren't the only ones in this situation.
Do NOT go here before a play! My mom and I had a reservation at 12:45 and arrived about 15 minutes early but were seated right away, which was great. However, after we sat down and ordered our drinks/ food, we did not see our waiter again for over an hour! We watched as others around us received their food (if it was a salad or similar) while our breakfast food took over an hour to arrive! We barely made it to our play! There was even a couple sitting next to us that got up and left because their food never arrived. As for food, we ordered the omelette and the hash - neither of which were anything to write home about. The hash is more like an omelette of hash browns with meat inside and it's served with bread, but not butter for it. The omelette was OK but again, nothing great for the price.
Really great service and this is by far one of the best high volume restaurants in the loop/theater district of Chicago. I think the food is really high quality, as well as the service, is always top level! This place is always busy and crowded and even with a reservation, you are waiting for a table, though not too long. It is worth the money and it is really great food! I would suggest that if you are claustrophobic that you don't eat at this place as you are packed into the restaurant with many other people. That being said, the entire experience is great and it is a great place to go before the theater.
Had theater tickets so starting and ending on time was important....
We arrived early in order to ensure there wouldn’t be any issues - we were seated 15 mins AFTER our reservation time (even after arriving 15 mins early)
Entrees were cold
I would suggest eating elsewhere- there are plenty of other choices in the area....
I was very late for my reservation due to a change in train schedules. I called when I realized this and the girl said to stop by when I arrived to see if they could fit me in. Since this was before a theater matinee the restaurant was packed when we arrived. They we able to accommodate us and we had plenty of time to make the performance without being rushed. Their brunch menu is interesting and both of our choices were excellent.
Before a theater matinee
The food is very good and the service was outstanding. It is extremely convenient to the theater district in Chicago. Reservations are a must.
Petterino‘s has a policy of not seating until the entire party is present even if you have a reservation. While I do not agree with this policy I do understand it. However all of the party (the two of us) were there by the reservation time and then forced to wait an additional 20 minutes before being seated. We had theater tickets. It was a colossal failure to recognize the impact of a reservation not being honored at the time it was scheduled. Much of the management appeared to not care or recognize this issue.
Dinner was good with good service. Service at the bar was poor, and the bar area wasn't clean.
We chose Petterino's because of it's close proximity to the theater. You can give your car to the valet and they will keep it until after the show. If it is raining, it is as close as you can get. Also, it is a Lettuce restaurant, so it will be predictably good.
All the above panned out. It took 30 minutes to get our car back, but my friend who parked in the lot said it took 20 minutes to get his car out. Go there. It's decent and easy.
We were seated early with a reservation. Play was shorter than we thought. Got a booth and were served right away. Specials were explained and adjustments to menu items (tater tots instead of fries) were permitted. Loud and very crowded but a favorite after theater location.
Don was very attentive without being intrusive and our meals were well prepared with a nice presentation that was not "over the top".
Ourr waiter was outstanding! Ask for Dannial!!!!!!!
I love, love, love Petterino's on Monday nights when Becky and Denise entertain the troupes. The food is delicious. The service excellent. And, I always appreciate a white table cloth and linen napkins. Always a great time.
Came around 11am and it was easy to get a seat for 4. Service was quick and the food was good.
They have the best ice cream and hot fudge! Never have had a bad meal!
Great restaurant for pre-theatre since the Goodman Theatre is connected by a doorway---BUT--make any pre-theatre reservations EARLY! This place is packed for pre-theatre dinners. Very nice menu and a good bar. (Sorry they got rid of the Pate appetizer.) Petterino's is very dependable choice.
Dinner and service very good. Stays open late on account of theater so that’s a big plus.
Going to show in less then a week and we’ll be going back.
You want Adam as your server!!
Martinis were very good as well as the wedge salad. But we had to wait unreasonable long, multiple times for our server and my crusted fish was burnt. With so many options available in Chicago we probably wouldn’t return.
We made reservations to eat here before a theater show. We made reservations for almost two hours prior to the show start and it was perfect. Our table was ready on time and each course of our meal came out perfectly and with plenty of time for us to get to our show. We would definitely dine here again the next time we are in the area. I had almond crusted fish and my husband had chicken parmigiana, and we both had an appetizer and different desserts. Everything was delicious!
Enjoyed the Saturday brunch before our show at the Oriental! Tasty meals served by our friendly and efficient waiter Daniel. Great location in the theater district. Be sure to make a reservation and allow plenty of time. The restaurant is full before shows.
We were there for Saturday lunch before the Goodman. The menu was for brunch which was not what we expected, we usually go on Thursday. It was very crowded and noisy. We will still try to go on Thursday, but not Saturday.
Food was great as was the service. Will definitely go back.
I have always enjoyed eating meals at Petterino’s before the theater. Now that I have new diet restrictions I was happy to see they have gluten free options on their menu, though no desserts and for the first time my entree had no vegetables.
This is a very nice restaurant with a variety of menu items that can suit everyone. As requested we were seated in a booth. The daily special was salmon cakes which were moist, and flavorful. The portions were significant for both my entrée and my guest's salad. We enjoyed our lunch very much and were in and out in an hour.
So sorry but I was not impressed with the food and especially the service. The waitperson forgot what two of the three of us ordered. One of us had to wait for him to bring the second part of the meal because he forgot the substitution ordered so the other part of the meal became cold which is probably why it was tasteless by the time the guest ate the meal. The second guest had to be asked what she ordered a second time. The waitperson was not good at all. The parmesan chicken was old and not juicy at all. We were so disappointed. We had never been here before and we were celebrating a promotion and really looked forward to the event.
Great atmosphere and food as usual. Advice without a reservation: Hover in the bar hightop tables. You'll get a seat within 10 minutes.
