Petterino's Ratings and Reviews
Excellent menu. Great value for price. Love that its close to all the theaters & they get you out in plenty of time. Excellent service too. Looks like there are lots of employees & they work together to keep things flowing. Reservations suggested, well in advance if possible.
The service was good as was the food, but the manager was not good at all. A 6 person party was seated at a a4-top next to us, requirig one member of that party to essentially sit at our table, between my children and crowding my daughter out of her place. It was very unpleasant and unnecessary as there were open tables in other parts of the room. When I approached the manager to notify him of this and asked him to rectify it, he was uncaring and cavalier and took no action. His bad customer service marred an otherwise-pleasant dinner. I will not return.
Great food, service and ambiance. They have the pre-theater dinner down. We ordered from the prix fixe menu and enjoyed everything we ordered - lobster bisque, grilled calamari, trout, chicken limone, tiramisu and peppermint ice cream sundae. The wine pour was generous and our server was attentive but not intrusive.
Petterino’s never disappoints! From the moment we walk in the door, we are in heaven! We especially love dining there during the holidays. The bar is beautifully decorated. The staff is warm, friendly and professional and the food is outstanding. Petterino’s is a post-theater must for us!
We had marked this event as a special occasion, yet at no point was anything mentioned. Two out of our party of 4ordered surf and turf, after an explanation that it included lobster tails, when it arrived it was a crab cake.
Each person would have ordered very differently if that were the case.
The manager came over to offer free dessert and to ask what he could do to rectify the situation. My response was to get some lobster tails and stop offering it as a special.
We were told a fair charge would be made for the two dinners that arrived , not market price as stated in the special offer. Each dinner in my point of view was completely overcharged considering it is not what would have been ordered to begin with.
We have been coming here for many years - and in the last few, it has just been disappointing.
Looks like we will have to find a new spot for next year.
We are out of owners, and have dined here two years in a row. Food is delicious, and the service was great. The restaurant was packed. I think this restaurant is close to the theatre and they are great at getting people in and out before curtain time. We were not rushed in the least. Short ribs were delicious.
The ambiance during the Christmas season can’t be beat. The food is always good and falls into the comfort food category which is fine with me as I am not a “foodie.” Servers are usually pleasant and efficient although this time, our server never cracked a smile or exchanged any pleasantries. He acted like he had just had a death in the family which made our dining experience less pleasant.
The food was super and we definitely plan to visit again with one exception--that we have a table that is in a less noisy place. I could not hear my companion speaking due to the noise.
The ambiance and waiter were very nice, as was everyghint but the sound level.
This is a very lively restaurant. We do not go into this area frequently so most of our several visits now are because they are convenient to the theater scene. Because of the convenient affordable valet parking it is perfect for our dining excursions. When we want to go to a play, we don't think go going anyplace else.
That being said, it is an interesting place to visit with all of the caricatures of famous personalities. If you ask your servers who they are near where you are sitting, that have a book that identifies each section of the restaurant. I think some have them get moved slightly because the last time we looked some of them may have been moved around.
We had a very congenial (but busy) server this time but he was pleasant and concerned about being sure that we were served in time to attend our show.
For us, (after 4 or 5 visits), it has become our "GO TO PLACE" for our Chicago theater visits.
We stopped in after enjoying some time at Christkindlemart. I wanted a sandwich and my wife ordered a salad. She told them we were going to share the sandwich and so they brought each of us a half order of each item on their own plates. Very thoughtful! The food was good and the prices reasonable.
We have dined at Petterino's these past several years on our downtown holiday shopping trip. This year we had three generations dining together and all had a good time. The location is perfect, the food is delicious, the holiday decorations and music is delightful, and our servers are personable and friendly. Always memorable. Cheers!
We were in the city attending a concert. We arrived and were seated immediately right by the server stand. The table was not fully set and some of the bread plates were dirty. Our server was terrible. We waited over 30 minutes for our first course and 20minutes after our plates bring cleated for the next. We have ourselves over 2 hours for dinner and barely got to the show on time. Some tables got service quickly while many of us were left waiting. When we asked for our bill before deserts arrived it still took they server 15 minutes to get it to us and half his tables were empty. Note: we ordered from the pre-fixe menu and it didn’t help. Next time we will go somewhere else
Wonderful meal. We went with the theater menu which basically gives you a free dessert with your meal. Everything otherwise is ala carte. My only hiccup was that it was cold and drafty...and we were not sitting by the windows. Otherwise this is our favorite spot when downtown in the Theater district. Valet parking is also a bonus perk at a great price.
Once again we chose Petterino's for our pre-theater dinner. They do an amazing job of serving you dinner at an appropriate pace while being mindful of the show's starting time. The food is always wonderful but the service is great. They work as a team to serve and take away dishes. Though it is always busy, it is quiet enough to carry on conversation.
We had reservations so our wait was only 10 minutes but on a Friday night you will wait.
Once you get in, it will be worth it. Every one of the staff was friendly and courteous. The Maitre’d was exceptional and made the experience even more fun. The wait staff never made you feel rushed.
The drinks and food were outstanding. Overall it was a very pleasant and fun dining experience.
