Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
Our annual holiday dinner. Never disappoints.
Awesome restaurant. On time reservation, excellent service, great food, and so close to the theatre.
Two things were unusual compared to my prior visits to Petterino’s. First, service was slow. Not sure it was the server’s fault, as he apologized for the time it took for my second course to arrive. Second, my salad was not very fresh. Both of these are unusual for a Lettuce restaurant.
Main dining room was closed for event, so table space is crowded...
As soon as we said we didn’t have to be at a show, our ticket with the kitchen must have been put on the back burner. Took almost an hour to get our food. Order came out wrong. Waiter was nice but always rushed. No one ever asked how our meal was. My daughters burger was underwhelming and the fries tasted like they were made yesterday. Waiter seemed annoyed when we ordered dessert.
Location idea if you are seeing a show at the Goodman Theater. But, don't count on that and allow plenty of extra time when making your reservation. We were seated late and only had time for salads before the show. Both the bartender in the bar and our server were flagging at 5pm so I don't know how they managed to make it through the after show dinners. Salads were good and we did make it to our show on-time!
Our server Celia was wonderful! Tables were a bit too close together.
We love Petterino’s and it’s a regular choice for us after the theater. This was the first time we had poor service. Our waiter was friendly and personable but WE had to flag him down several times. It was about 45 minutes before we could even place our orders. We were really disappointed because we’ve never had a problem. Maybe he was having a bad day. He really didn’t seem interested in being our waiter.
We go to Petterino's once a year when we are downtown for a play and/or Christkindlemarket. We have never been disappointed in the food or service. This time was a little different. Our experience with the service was a little disappointing. Dana, our server was polite but after taking our order we were left waiting for the crackers and bread basket. We had to ask someone else for it and then all we got was bread. I love the crackers and was disappointed that we didn't get any. We ordered the Pre Fixe menu items. My husband ordered soup and I a salad. He received this tiny little vessel of soup and I never got my salad. All of a sudden another busboy came to our table with my husband's bowl of soup and my salad. Finally our server came over for our dessert choices and my husband had to ask for another drink. There was a female and male server at the two tables to our left that were very engaging and attentive to their customers. We wished we had one of them.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
We were there to celebrate my friends birthday, the service and food was great, but no acknowledgment of her birthday!
I made a table reservation over 2 months ago for 6:15 PM. I was not seated until 6:45. No apologies. Was just told that the restaurant was overbooked. The food was good and waiter was attentive as he could be. He had to many tables for diner hour dining.
Excellent food and ambiance. However, like many downtown restaurants, the tables were squeezed together offering little to no privacy.
Service was very good and food was excellent! Tomato soup was especially delicious!
Our server was awesome. Food was terrific. Great location and no rushing or trying to get you out of there fast in spite of being very busy.
Food was tasty. Unfortunately, the service experience was VERY below par and disappointing. Usually it's been fantastic - I get it, someone was having an off day - but still. Very long wait for even initial water fill (and her vibe was as chilled as the water too) and when the waitress arrived it was "what can I get you"...um, why don't we start again with "Hello and are there any specials?" Should we/patrons really need to be leading this? We heard the intro from the table next to us and we got zip. Anyway, it didn't go much better from there. The food delivery/clearing staff were attentive and at least smiled. Wish we had a waitress who had been. 'tis the season.
Great service and great food. Perfect before a show at the Goodman theatre or any near by activities.
Great experience! Server Jose and busboy were so good and attentive. We’ll be back.
Good food. Lively environment
We had a friends visiting us and decided to take them to Petterino's. We did have a reservation and were seated immediately. Our service was very good. The waiter spoke fast so it was hard to understand him at times and maybe made us feel a bit rushed. Otherwise, a wonderful experience with delicious food and quiet enough that we could visit with one another!
Great meal with friends. Staff accommodated our need to be done in time to head to the theater without making us feel rushed or shorting anything. Busy place but we didn't haven any trouble talking with each other during the meal.
My wife and I go to Petterino’s annually. We usually eat there before a show or while doing our Christmas weekend tradition. The food is always great, we love the holiday decor, and the service is amazing.
My daughter and I were spending the evening downtown with a play. Location was perfect for everything! Loved the decor for Christmas. Service and food was fantastic!
Tables too close together.
Crab cakes very good!! Friday special
No one rushed us
Petterino’s is a wonderful restaurant! Staff are warm and friendly. The food delicious!
The food here is amazing and we loved the red booths. Our waiter seemed to disappear though and the food was brought way too soon after just receiving our apps. But this is still my favorite Italian restaurant downtown.
Anniversary and our annual time to see The Christmas Carole
The service was fantastic and the food absolutely delicious and reasonably priced!
The service, the food and the atmosphere of Petterino’s is always excellent. The perfect place to dine if you’re seeing a play or just downtown. Make reservations.
Good food with large portions. They were very busy so service was not as attentive as expected but adequate. It was also quite noisy making it difficult to talk.
Servers were so nice and the food was excellent!
We love Petterino’s and come often. While we weren’t impressed with the hostess, who is usually always friendly, and initially were upset by our seating placement (we requested a booth and were put at the tiny table just before you turn the corner to the bathroom), our server Danny was wonderful and made everything more enjoyable! He was funny and personable and an excellent server. Definitely went above and beyond!!!
Excellent dining experience at Petterino's last night. We were going to see Santaland Diaries at 7 and arrived a bit early for a 5:15pm reservation. They sat our party right away in the dining area near the Goodman Theatre doors. Perfect location. Far enough from the bar patrons who were full of merriment and not in the noisy dining room. Our server, Daniel, was stellar. He was attentive, intuitive, observed our likes and tastes and came to anticipate what we may ask for. A true salesman: helped us pick the wine we'd prefer, but allowed us to taste another; offered us a taste of their signature soup, which we ended up ordering. One of the best servers I've had throughout my years of dining. He was kind enough to accommodate us to return after the show and leisurely enjoy our prix-fixe dessert, since we were too stuffed from dinner and it was getting close to showtime. He took care of us for our return visit. He made our evening an amazing experience. Oh, and our dinner and dessert were great too! Tomato bisque to die for and the parmesan-crusted filet trio was delicious! There's nothing like Homer's peppermint ice cream with a side of hot fudge at Petterino's! A great holiday outing!
Awesome birthday dessert!
Was very disappointed with this visit to Petterino’s I have been before and found it very nice. My meal was edible but unfortunately I only got one part of it. The other part arrived after I had finished eating. One person in our group was served the wrong soup and another also was given the wrong dish. The servers had no idea as to how the dishes in the proper way. Our waiter was nice but not terribly evident. All in all, very underwhelming.
Food is always great. Service was great. I don’t know why they close so early! But otherwise another great experience.
It’s an annual thing for us to go to the Goodman Theatre and then Petterino’s. It’s just really convenient but honestly, the food is just ok and the service is a average. The restaurant clearly has to just open the doors and, thanks to the adjacent theatre, the patrons will come. It seems the menu is dull, dated and truly uninspiring. Very little effort in the food selection and the cocktail menu is laughable. Seriously. We’ve done the dining and theatre for at least the last 7 years—it’s as if time stood still. It’s time to find an alternate.
Food was fresh, hot and delicious. Several drinks to choose from. Service was very good. We were waited on and served efficiently enough to make it to our showtime. Restaurant was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holiday.
Great service and food. Love the ambience.
Happy at the Holidays.
Montsha was phenomenal. She made our experience fun and memorable!
Friendly and efficient service and excellent food choices. Our party of 4 all made different selections and all were good. We have found Petterino's to be our "go to" place before attending plays in the theater district.
