Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
We enjoyed our dinner very much! Great service and food and ambiance!!!
I have been to Petterino’s many times. It is consistently excellent. The menu carries main stream fair that is reliable, delicious and varied. Excellent salads with fresh ingredients that are well balanced; hot dishes running from sandwiches to full entree plates.
This is a great place for a business lunch or to get together with friends. Comfortable room, a bit noisy but easy to carry on a conversation at the table.
Service is attentive, professional, and friendly without being intrusive or overbearing.
Buns on sliders was stale, waiter very uncommunicative, sidewalks not cleared of snow.
We live in the look and sometimes forget about Petterino's when we are not attending a performance.
We decided on it for Sunday Brunch and we're sold. Everything was perfect.
A particularly good location if you have tickets for the Goodman, as it's right off the lobby, although reservations can be hard to come by for popular productions if you don't book ahead. They have an extensive 3-course prix fixe menu, with a variety of choices from the main menu, but also give you the chance to add most of the daily specials as well. (A few of the items have a reasonable add-on fee.) Fantastic soups and desserts as well, along with a good cocktail menu and wine list. It's also fun to try to identify celebrities in the caricatures that adorn the wall.
The service was great and the ambiance is fun. Th salads were really over priced for what they were. Great peppermint ice cream.
Our waitress did not make us feel special or even ordinary. When one of us ordered wine and it did not come, she said “Oh I did not turn in the order yet!” What? I thought the customers came first. Not Saturday night. I was trying to treat my friends and did not feel it was special. So disappointed.
They don’t seem to appreciate their customers anymore. Their location brings in a lot of customers and they don’t care about treating their customers nice anymore. I made a reservation for my B-day dinner before theater. First the host attempted to seat us outside of the main dining room, by the bathrooms. When I said that didn’t work for me, she made a face and said “let’s see if I have anything else”. Excuse me, it was 5:15pm, I had a reservation with “Birthday Celebration” on it and she was giving me attitude! The busboy was really bad; he did not react to our “hello” or “thank you”. He was not paying attention when plates became empty and we had to ask for them to be collected. More unpleasant face making come with that. He just started piling up everything into one plate right in front of my face instead of putting the plate on this arm and then collecting plates. No one acknowledged my birthday either. Tables are so close together that you not only can’t sit down comfortably but are forced to smell someone else’s food and listen to their conversation. Had a very disappointing meal and don’t think I will be going back anymore; just too many disappointing meals there lately.
Typical American food.
We stopped in for bunch before going to the theater. The food was great, our server was very pleasant, and we were able to make it to the show with plenty of time to find our seats.
Great food, great ambiance and great staff. We were visitors to Chicago and made the reservation on the recommendation of a local. Petterino's is on our list of places to return to.
My go to restaurant before occasional Goodman plays
We went for my friends birthday on Thursday. We all ordered burgers and they were just delicious 🤗
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Food and service was great! Will return next time we visit Chicago.
While I look forward to my next visit Petterino's, and have been their often over many years, the food was not up to par this time. My chicken did not taste as fresh as usual. Nor was the presentation up to usual standards; the chicken breast was roughly sliced into odd-shaped chunks, and some pieces not fully separate from the other. It looked as disappointing as it tasted. My husband's hamburger bun was old or over toasted. The manager was responsive, which I appreciated, and we enjoyed the usual good service. I look forward to the food quality returning to it's original high standards.
We love to go to Petterinos before or after plays at the Goodman.
Love the Irv Kupcinet Chopped Salad.
Good for a late nite drink - closing hours vary.
Great pre and post theater option. Varsity of options in all price ranges.
They did not have my open table reservation. Our waitress made us feel u important. She pass I g us by without asking if we needed anything! I brought my husband there for his birthday, we did not feel welcomed. The lady at the front was able to find us a table, but not surr if id ever return.
Great martini. Wonderful chicken limone.
We had a very nice post theatre dinner at Petterino’s. The service was excellent. Our reservation was honored as soon as we arrived. The food and service by our waiter was first class. The “100” layer lasagna was delicious and not heavy so you didn’t feel “stuffed afterwards. All in all Petterino’s is a great spot for dinner after the theatre.
This place is our downtown favorite. A cozy, true “Chicago” ambiance, great servers. A great dining experience each and every time! We typically go for Sunday brunch at least once a month. But it’s a great spot just about anytime! Reservations are strongly suggested, especially at lunch and around the holidays.
Great for going to theater
Valet parking loved the location
Staff was very friendly, got seated immediately, 15 mins before my reservation. Very nice booth and ambiance. Service was slightly slow but we weren't in a rush. Great place for a pre-musical meal.
My grandson and I enjoyed our lunch prior to a theater visit. However, the children's menu is lacking. Children deserve to have a better selection than standard "fast food" fare. See Crosby's kitchen for a thoughtful menu for children. The children's menu should reflect offerings at the restaurant for adults.
Had pre-play Saturday brunch. As always, food was really good, service was accommodating, one of those places we always enjoy.
our waitress was not good at all .....although I made a reservation - for 6 people - a month prior, they sat us in a very small tight booth...it was awful
A business associate and I ate here for lunch. We arrived at the start of lunch service. Our waiter was great and very polite. The water glasses were refilled constantly, which I loved. The food is solid. The portion size on our meals was larger than expected. We both enjoyed our selections. The only negative about the dining experience was that the tables where we were seated are rather tightly packed and it was difficult to get in and out with coats and briefcases.
Reliable menu items satisfy, though the lettuce in my salad looked tired this time. Popular pre-theater spot becomes conversation-friendly once the crowds leave. Will return.
Great place pre-theater. Prix fixe meals are good value, delicious, and promptly served. Service was prompt, informed, and courteous. Lasagna, parmesan crusted tenderloins, lobster bisque were excellent. Gets a little noisy, but a favorite place for me.
We were celebrating our granddaughter’s birthday and came to dinner after seeing a play. We all enjoyed the experience. Our waiter was great!
We really enjoy eating here, especially before or after a show. It makes for a perfect evening.
Work lunch. Great place to entertain, employees or people out from out of town.
Great for pre or post theatre show dinner. Not inexpensive. Staff accommodating and gracious. No valet parking for lunch.
Petterino's is great not only for it's nearness to several theaters but they always serve great food. I usually don't get past the delicious appetizers so I'd recommend those if you are going with a small group. Also, the soup should not be missed. It is definitely homemade and always delicious. The servers are very professional and quick to get the food out to the table.
We were there on New Year's Day. I understand they're not usually open on that holiday, but this year, they were. I had the most delicious short ribs. It's my favorite meal at Petterino's. Love frequenting this restaurant when we are in Chicago.
For year we have enjoyed Petterino's and plan to continue dining there!!!
Always love Petterino's which never disappoints. Great service for pre theatre performances and good food all times. Unlimited choices.
Great food and great service. This place was amazing.
Petterino's for New Years Eve was a great treat. Although I usually reserve it for Pre Theater dining, the entire bar and restaurant were decked out for the holidays. So festive! I saw groups of singles, dating and married couples, as well as families all enjoying themselves. The service was great from the valet to the coat check, the hostess to the bus-boys. Our waiter served me a delicious Cosmo while my date struggled to arrive thru crazy traffic.(That helped) Hate to bust out the hints, but the Wedge salad though removed from the menu-was made on request-SO Excellent (Blue cheese off a cheese tray, for REAL!!!) The Surf and Turf special we both had was a hit. Lobster tail-YUM! After dinner we got a COMPLEMENTARY chocolate mousse layer cake. AMAZING. Petterino's is a just 5 star no matter when you get there!
