Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
Great for business lunch
This was an awful dining experience. We had a reservation for 6PM; other parties arrived with and without reservations and were seated before us. It appears that more tables have been shoved into the space literally causing one of dinner companions to clash heads with the patron at the next table. After we were finally seated at 6:15PM, we promptly ordered and informed our wait person that we had theater tickets. and tough....impossible to chew. Thus, the chicken was not eaten in each of the salads, but, considering the delay in receiving our food and a 7:30 curtain we had no options. This restaurant only survives because of its proximity to the theater. When the weather is warmer patrons should flee for better service and food.
Cosy, good food, good service and they get you out to go to the Goodman on time!
I like Petterinos menu- their brunch and lunch on weekends. Service is great and there's a nice selection of food, drinks and expresso drinks.
Celebrating birthdays with friend before Goodman Theatre
Theater outing mage extra special with a lovely brunch at Petterino’s.
Father daughter meal for a quick Chicago overnight trip.
Service was excellent. My daughter loved the authentic chicken Parmesan.
Great Italian food; professional wait staff. We went to Petterinos after seeing Hamilton in the CIBC theatre on Saturday afternoon. It was fun and vibrant! A great place to go before or after a show.
Daily menu is ok but specials are usually great. Very very busy pre theater so a bit loud
Great Brunch. Interesting entrees. Service was great. Wish I could have had a plan of all the caricatures.
Excellent service, we were so well taken care of. Food was delicious, loved the atmosphere. We were able to get a reservation same day. Liked it so much we returned the next night after the theatre for a light meal and drinks. We will be back when next we visit Chicago!
Two years in a row celebrating a birthday and the filet is the finest I have had. Relaxing and warm atmosphere. Will come back again and again.
Food consistently good, staff friendly and efficient, location great when going to the theater
And a show at Chicago Theater
Outstanding service and delicious food. The waiter never stopped refilling our water glasses. We added an extra person at the last minute and the gracious host went out of her way to accommodate us within minutes of our reservation. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago.
Perfect for before theater dinner
We went after the opera and had a terrific meal. We shared a nice Merlot with dinner. Had a Cesar salad that prepared just right. Entries were a filet and the Rizzi lemon chicken. Both were great dessert was key lime pie- very good with espresso and coffee. A very nice experience.
We enjoyed our dinner very much! Great service and food and ambiance!!!
Outstanding as usual. If one is going to the Goodman, this is a no-brainer. Quality meals, efficient waitstaff, and warm setting. My wife and I are already looking forward to our next dinner at Petterino's.
I have been to Petterino’s many times. It is consistently excellent. The menu carries main stream fair that is reliable, delicious and varied. Excellent salads with fresh ingredients that are well balanced; hot dishes running from sandwiches to full entree plates.
This is a great place for a business lunch or to get together with friends. Comfortable room, a bit noisy but easy to carry on a conversation at the table.
Service is attentive, professional, and friendly without being intrusive or overbearing.
Buns on sliders was stale, waiter very uncommunicative, sidewalks not cleared of snow.
We live in the look and sometimes forget about Petterino's when we are not attending a performance.
We decided on it for Sunday Brunch and we're sold. Everything was perfect.
A particularly good location if you have tickets for the Goodman, as it's right off the lobby, although reservations can be hard to come by for popular productions if you don't book ahead. They have an extensive 3-course prix fixe menu, with a variety of choices from the main menu, but also give you the chance to add most of the daily specials as well. (A few of the items have a reasonable add-on fee.) Fantastic soups and desserts as well, along with a good cocktail menu and wine list. It's also fun to try to identify celebrities in the caricatures that adorn the wall.
The service was great and the ambiance is fun. Th salads were really over priced for what they were. Great peppermint ice cream.
Our waitress did not make us feel special or even ordinary. When one of us ordered wine and it did not come, she said “Oh I did not turn in the order yet!” What? I thought the customers came first. Not Saturday night. I was trying to treat my friends and did not feel it was special. So disappointed.
They don’t seem to appreciate their customers anymore. Their location brings in a lot of customers and they don’t care about treating their customers nice anymore. I made a reservation for my B-day dinner before theater. First the host attempted to seat us outside of the main dining room, by the bathrooms. When I said that didn’t work for me, she made a face and said “let’s see if I have anything else”. Excuse me, it was 5:15pm, I had a reservation with “Birthday Celebration” on it and she was giving me attitude! The busboy was really bad; he did not react to our “hello” or “thank you”. He was not paying attention when plates became empty and we had to ask for them to be collected. More unpleasant face making come with that. He just started piling up everything into one plate right in front of my face instead of putting the plate on this arm and then collecting plates. No one acknowledged my birthday either. Tables are so close together that you not only can’t sit down comfortably but are forced to smell someone else’s food and listen to their conversation. Had a very disappointing meal and don’t think I will be going back anymore; just too many disappointing meals there lately.
Typical American food.
We stopped in for bunch before going to the theater. The food was great, our server was very pleasant, and we were able to make it to the show with plenty of time to find our seats.
Great food, great ambiance and great staff. We were visitors to Chicago and made the reservation on the recommendation of a local. Petterino's is on our list of places to return to.
My go to restaurant before occasional Goodman plays
We went for my friends birthday on Thursday. We all ordered burgers and they were just delicious 🤗
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Food and service was great! Will return next time we visit Chicago.
While I look forward to my next visit Petterino's, and have been their often over many years, the food was not up to par this time. My chicken did not taste as fresh as usual. Nor was the presentation up to usual standards; the chicken breast was roughly sliced into odd-shaped chunks, and some pieces not fully separate from the other. It looked as disappointing as it tasted. My husband's hamburger bun was old or over toasted. The manager was responsive, which I appreciated, and we enjoyed the usual good service. I look forward to the food quality returning to it's original high standards.
Pre theatre. ALWAYS GOOD!
We love to go to Petterinos before or after plays at the Goodman.
Love the Irv Kupcinet Chopped Salad.
Good for a late nite drink - closing hours vary.
Great pre and post theater option. Varsity of options in all price ranges.
They did not have my open table reservation. Our waitress made us feel u important. She pass I g us by without asking if we needed anything! I brought my husband there for his birthday, we did not feel welcomed. The lady at the front was able to find us a table, but not surr if id ever return.
Great martini. Wonderful chicken limone.
