Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
Play at Goodman and Birthday
Petterinos is a good restaurant to go to for a decent Italian dinner before seeing a play in the theater district in downtown Chicago.
I ordered the mushroom risotto which was very good. My husband said his chicken picatta dish was good. We enjoyed our meal and our server asked us when we were seated if we were going to a play and what time it began. He wanted to be sure we had plenty of time to eat and be on time for the theater. We appreciated that greatly.
We also used their valet service. For $16 we were able to leave our car there, go to the theater and then pick up our car after the performance. I know you can probably park for a bit cheaper somewhere else but we thought it was a good deal for the convenience.
Overall, if you are going to see a play it's a nice, reasonably quiet restaurant where you can get a pretty good meal. I wouldn't go there just for dinner because there are so many wonderful restaurants in other Chicago neighborhoods away from the busy, over priced downtown area.
Everything was great
Everything is excellent here but extra shout out for service.
Quality based selections, in a traditional Classic Chicago setting. The service was excellent. I appreciated the patience in ordering, due to our conversation at the table.
I returned to Petterino’s after a problem on a previous visit. I am happy that I did. Very pleased with how Petterino’s management responded to my complaint. It showed sensitivity to the customer experience. I will return!
The food was perfect and the drinks were amazing! I had the braised short ribs and they were cooked to perfection!
I love the ambience at Petterino’s but they seemed to be short on wait staff as there were long delays during our meal, although the waiter was working very hard. It appeared he had to wait on too many tables. The food is fine, generous portions and the peppermint ice cream is fabulous.
Enjoyed my Sunday Brunch at Petterino's this week. I thought the entree selections offered enough variety to satisfied most diners. Service was attentive & efficient. My avocado toast was especially good. I appreciate the hollandaise sauce on the side. It gave me control over how much I wanted/needed on the plate. I'll likely consider Petterino's for brunch in addition to our frequent dinner outings.
Petterinos is popular so be sure to reserve ahead for weekend evenings at pre-theater times. Servers are attentive to patrons' post-dinner plans, routinely asking about people's time commitments. The people next to us (the tables are quite close together) only allowed 75 minutes for dinner before they had to get to their show, but the server kept it moving & got them through dinner in time. We had allowed more time for dinner, and the server appropriately adjusted the pace.
I like the prix fixe menu that offers an appetizer, entree and dessert for a set price. My food was tasty and served at hot or cold, as appropriate. The entree came a little fast, while I was still finishing my salad, but the server apologized and it was no big deal.
Very nice and warm staff. Great food and atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
Server was great!
I am a regular customer and visit this location at least 2 to 3 times in a month for lunch with a family member. This particular visit was not he greatest. The restaurant was not very full. The wait staff were slow and I did not have enough time to enjoy my meal and the dining experience. when the food came out it was overcooked. The staff offered to remake it; I requested it to go as my lunch hour was nearly over. This was not what I expected from Petterino's. I was very disappointed with this experience.
Our waiter was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Everything we ate was amazing even the salad!
Wonderful restaurant, although sitting way to close to neighbor for dining.
Very nice restaurant located central business district very easy to park and access. I would go back again soon
Not really a special occasion but once or twice a year I am able to travel to Chicago just for a lunch date with my son. Petterino’s is always our go to. Food is always great and it’s an easy place to get to by CTA. I come in on the Orange Line and he comes by Red Line. Shopping is close by!
We went to see Hamilton and our waiter was very considerate of our time constraints
I brought a guest who was celebrating his birthday. We were seated in a booth in the main dining room which was great. Food was delivered quickly, and was very good. The chocolate cake brought after the meal was a great ending.
Service was awful...not enough staff during rush period before the theatre shows. Food was disappointing...will definitely not come back or recommend to anyone
The food was just OK. Not great portion sizes, looked kind of empty on plate. Everything is ala carte so no salad or soup for 23.00? Not a good value. The waiter seemed not happy to be there.
I have eaten at Petterino's numerous times. The menu seems to be getting very old. Needs to be updated. The burrata deep fried was good for a kid, but to put it as a specialty item??? It was a large mozzarella stick. Chicken was breaded heavily and the rainbow trout was very salty. Maybe 25 years ago that is the way people ate, but get with the times!
Good food, great service, easy to get to the theaters after dinner.
A Chicago favorite. Best place to go before/after or both "the theater"
Server was fabulous
Perfect if you have tickets to a show. We got our table right in time and had a very pleasant experience.
Great restaurant. Everything on the menu looked great! Will be back
Got a table for 5. Very noisy until 1/3 of the table vacated for a nearby show. Food was good. Service was excellent.
The service was not great.
Amazing food and great service
Okay, you asked. Not good. My spaghetti was mushy, too cheesy, too saucy, and just plain cold. I was with a group and didn’t want to make a scene.
Not sure what happened.
I am a big fan of the Lettuce chain. But this place was disappointing.
My two pals and I stopped in for dinner before heading over to catch the John Leguizamo show, Latin History for Morons. And, we're SO happy that we did....everything was fantastic. The ambiance, décor and service was impeccable. And, the food? Heavenly! It's a great start to any "Broadway Night!"
Decent pre-theater dinner location for the area. Food isn't great, but you shouldn't go there for the food. It's a great historical place and you can ca fall into your theater seat very quickly. Don't forget to make reservations. You'll need them.
Very solid option for pre-theater dining. Food and service were quite good; the wait staff was very diligent to ensure we made it to the show on time. I would especially recommend the trout.
Always a great option before the theatre! Waiter asks when seated what time your show is and what time you’d like to be on your way. Good food too!
The entrance doors to Petterino’s is, in my opinion, poorly marked. There are many doors. When trying to find the correct door (it was not), I tripped over a cement threshold on Petterino’s property that is approx 1 inch higher than the sidewalk and very uneven. I suffered bruised and cut lips as a result. I really could not taste my food due to the blood in my mouth. The entire experience was extremely unpleasant. I will not return.
Always a favorite for pre-theater dining. Great food and cocktails. A classic!
Everyone was very friendly! We were not rushed, but were able to get out in time for our show. The food was amazing. I highly recommend Petterino’s!
Server was fantastic and so was the food.
