Excellent food and service. As it was a very quiet Monday evening the restaurant was somewhat lacking in atmosphere but this did not spoil our enjoyment.
Great food, but surprisingly slow given restaurant was not busy.
We would like to thank your staff for such a wonderful meal, food and service was excellent thank you will be back soon am sure
Superb service from very friendly staff and great food. I will definitely go again.
My review is for the food which as usual was very good.
Very unhappy that our booking was not registered when we arrived. I had to argue & show our booking confirmation to be admitted. Not a good experience if bringing guests.
I complained to Open Table & they confirmed booking registered so Petrichor needs to sort this out as has happened once before. Complained directly to email address of hotel but only acknowleged email with no reply to my complaint.
We had not been to Petrichor for two years, but as before they do not seem very pleased to see customers - even if they had booked. At 6pm there were only two other diners and they soon left. However the food is very good and excellent value for the area. We began with the Smoked Salmon and Ox Cheek Croquette - both good and beautifully presented. Mains were Seafood Linguine - a little dry, a tender Chicken breast and a gigantic and tasty Pork Chop. Two glasses of a reasonably priced Merlot from an interesting wine list completed the meal. Service was attentive.
It was a wonderful surprise. quiet, very good food and service. nothing to complain!
Restaurant was empty at lunchtime. Good was good, but service was slow. Not much atmosphere
A quiet lunch with a colleague, with good food. Surprisingly empty restaurant.
Despite Open Table sending me a confirmation and a reminder, the restaurant had no record of my booking. Had they had this they would have been able to alert me to the fact that it was being repainted! Does not instill much confidence in the booking system. Get it sorted Ooen Table as this is not the first time this has happened!
However, the restaurant manager and her staff could not have been more accommodating and quickly seated us in the bar area, where we were able to choose from the restaurant menu. We had the express lunch which was both delicious and excellent value. Service was quick and attentive. Well done The Cavendish!
Great food, lovely location, friendly and efficient staff. I recommend ths for lunch - it works well for business lunches as the tables ae well spread out and the place is quiet.
Starters were good but my wife was slightly disappointed with her main. Overall fine. We enjoyed our evening but can neither recommend nor dissuade.
On entry everything was easy and relaxed the staff were attentive but not obtrusive and were quick to respond when needed the food was very good and there was no sense of being hurried. Overall it was a very pleasant dining experience.
Excellent quiet dinner after shopping locally. Charming staff and delicious food. I have also previously attended in a group and again service and choice of food excellent.
Catch up lunch with an old friend so we had a cocktail in the bar first. Cocktail barman extremely helpful and friendly. He made me an excellent margarita which wasn't on the printed menu. He also made a delicious virgin mojito for my friend, also not on the list. Quiet elegant surroundings apart from the regular fire alarm test which the barman did make sure everyone knew was coming. The noise did seem to go on for a long time.
One slight hitch was that my booking with OpenTable wasn't on their list, although I had the email confirmation. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't busy and so lunch was quiet and relaxed. The food was beautifully cooked but not wow factor great. Good selection of wines by the glass so we could choose different ones to suit our taste.
The staff were all friendly and attentive without being in your face, so lunch was unhurried and gave us both plenty of time to catch up. Would go there again if I wanted somewhere quiet and comfortable.
Everything was perfect for a good catch up with friends loved it. To top it all my friend fell on the way to the hotel and they were so kind to help her. All in all a great lunch a must if you are in the area
Everything was great food service excellent, but only one problem they hadn’t received the booking from Ooen Table again , it’s 2nd time this gas happened
We have been a few times now and we never tire of going there, great place , good food, great service, in fact we have booked to go again soon
Apart from a hiccup with the booking we had a very enjoyable lunch at The Petrichor.
Food, as usual was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. With 2* AA food rating and a quiet environment it suits us just fine. Ideal for being able to talk & without the usual loud music.
The set lunch menu, also available early evening for pre theatre dining is very fair value for money.
The place needs a little updating. The food was ok. But not more than that. Overall, a classic , mediocre hotel restaurant.
Good prompt service but not many people around. Food is good too!
Great food - very good service - Staff changes but very obviously there is training and focus on the customer - Nice Location - All Good - Been several times and will return
I have beento this restaurant on 2 previous occasions and the experience was good on both occasions. However; this time the food quality was extremely poor and can only be described as over priced pub food. The shrug by the staff member when I commented as per this review was very disappointing from this normally high class establishment.
Food was excellent, good menu choice and considering it was a set menu there were lots of choices on the christmas fayre menu. My only criticism is the staff could be more attentive in making sure bread is replaced and glasses of water are topped up as we were constantly having to ask for this to be done. However the staff were very polite and overall it was a enjoyable dining experience.
weren't aware of our booking, despite confirmation from OpenTable and my ringing on the day to confirm
Enjoyable meal but advertised as having Christmas decor and table settings which were not there, whole restaurant lacked christmas decoration which lessened atmosphere despite lovely food
I was unimpressed when i arrived to find absolutely no staff. Eventually the manager ( I think) appeared but didn't seem to care. Unusually the waiting staff however were much better. The guys was good and the price was very good. It's a hotel restaurant but at least it's on the first floor and has windows.
Had a lovely meal and cocktails. the service was lovely and we got a window seat which gave a great view to the street below.
Unfortunately there were no other diners at the beginning of our evening which meant the ambience of the place lacked. But I would dine here again and enjoyed the experience.
Petrichor at the Cavendish offers good food in a refined and quiet setting. The salmon dish I ordered came undercooked but it was then rectified.
Very nice venue. Great deal - £25 for 3 courses and a champagne cocktail. Menu had 4 choices per course and comp bread roll. All food was exceptional, especially the chicken. The staff were extremely attentive and welcoming so happy for the service charge to be added to the bill.
As we dined at 6.30pm, we were given a nice window seat. Would eat here again, especially on this offer.
We have visited several times and have had excellent food and service every time. This is one of our favourite restaurants in London.
enjoyed our meal as it was a pre-theatre dinner, service was excellent and food was very good.
Would defiantly recommend and go again.
We stayed at The Cavendish hotel for two nights as part of a treat for my birthday, we
visited The Petrichor for a pre theatre meal at 5pm, the service was very good, we were
well looked after and the staff very informative, the food we had was of a extremely
good quality and delicious. We would definitely eat here again.
The service was top notch. Everyone from the maître d' to waiters took the effort to remember and address you by your name, which made you feel very welcomed. The food was excellent as well. The dessert was simply to die for. Their summer set menu is especially a bargain consider it is in the heart of London near by Fortnum & Mason.
The view is the best thing about the restaurant. The staff were ok. The food was overpriced and dull.
I was very impressed with the service and attention we received at this restaurant. We booked for the following night after we had been the 1st time! The food was exceptional. The staff were exceptional. I will definitely go there again.
My husband and I had dinner here and it was excellent. We had the three courses for £25 which was very good value. We have been here many times and it never disappoints. Polite staff.
I dined at this restaurant yesterday evening, I had a really good time and can't praise this restaurant enough. We had the 3 course set meal with cocktail, and it was really delicious! The staff were really friendly and helpful and it was really a pleasant atmosphere. I will definitely be returning!
We have dined at the Petrichor several times. We are always delighted with the experience. The service is discreet but very friendly and helpful. Staff help with food selection and wine choice. I have a food intolerance and I felt confident of the kitchen to take care and I never felt as if I was only given limited choice. We had a fixed price menu which gave plenty of choice. Not as extensive as the a la carte but very tasty and beautifully presented. We had a lovely evening with friends sitting in a table by the window. Nothing was a problem including the bill which was brilliant value for money. I would recommend this restaurant highly
We booked here for the Summer Set Menu and 2 cocktails at a cost of £29 pp.
A good choice of 4 starters, main courses and desserts. Very friendly and attentive staff. Each course was very nicely presented and as there was one person in our group who didn't like one element of the dessert dish she chose, the waitress went away to speak to the chef regarding an alternative. Each cocktail was served and it was explained what was in each one. A lovely restaurant where we was not rushed and could talk without hearing other diners conversation as it was set up spaciously. Will definitely return!!
