Petrarca Cucina e Vino
We stumbled on this gem last year while in the city for our biggest client conference. Needless to say we returned and had a great experience once again! All 13 of us loved our meals...and the wine. Leo and his team do a great job!
Wonderful family run restaurant that had a warm welcome. Food was excellent with a great wine list.
Petrarca is an old favorite, and so it was clearly the natural spot to celebrate our anniversary. The staff, from the manager to the servers, were (as always) incredibly friendly and helpful — and the food was as outstanding as ever. I’m very partial to their fettuccine with the lamb ragu (a frequent entry on their specials), and the stuffed chicken was apparently fantastic also. The quality of the wine (a Grüner and a Primativo, in our case) is alone worth the trip. is This remains not just a neighborhood gem, but a city-wide gem.
Food is good as always, but service a little slower than normal
Always consistently fabulous food. As close to authentic Italian as you can get without being in Italy!!!
Lovely restaurant with great italian food in a warm and stylish atmosphere. Enjoyed a wonderful meal with friends from out of town, the service was friendly and attentive while we never felt rushed at all. A true gem in this part of town.
My family comes to Petrarca all the time, always the best service with exceptional food!
We had an early dinner for four, which was wise because it got quite loud as the evening went on.
I enjoyed the lamb ragu with pasta and it was very tasty; my husband enjoyed his spagetti carbonara. Our friends liked the chicken and the lasagna. We shared a tasty appetizer of calamari. Our portions were large and we took the pastas home for lunch the next day! The restaurant is lovely and charming and we'd return happily.
The pasta with duck ragu was very good. They were out of the wine we wanted.
We have been so many times and the food and service is always great.
A favorite of our family. Great food!! Sometimes service can be a little slow. When everything arrives we forgive them!
We had a lovely meal at this restaurant after getting some documents at the courthouse. We showed up a few minutes before they were officially opened and we were welcomed warmly in.
I have a few allergies and found a great dish I could eat! Very happy about that. The scramble with zucchini and onions was perfectly paired with potatoes and a salad! It was fresh and yummy! My dining companion had a broth with tortellini in it followed by a pasta with Bolognese which he thoroughly enjoyed. There was a good beer for companion and I have a lovely tea.
The service was lovely the wait staff was exuberant and helpful. I found the service very warm and friendly. I'd highly recommend this spot for an array of meals with an array of people.
We ate here two years ago and it was excellent then and still fantastic today. Food and wine is the best. We will definitely dine here again on our next trip.
Good Italian food with good service
Very solid Italian, got the basics right
Food was very good. Service was good as well. The only issue (and it no fault of the restaurant!) was the party with the loud children. It was difficult to have a conversation since the parents were not controlling their children in the restaurant. Again, NOT the fault of the restaurant
Authentic Italian food, wonderful staff. My go to restaurant. Never a bad meal.
SO GOOD! I will be back for drinks and dinner next time.
This was our second time here. We loved it so much that we came back with a friend- an Italian friend who cooks really well. The food was awful this time, and my friend agreed. The veal was tough like shoe leather, the potatoes ice cold in the center and the fried calamari batter was flavorless. Although the waiter sympathized with us, the manager refused to make it right and told us to withhold the waiter’s tip if wanted to ‘make it right.’ That was pretty nasty, since the waiter wasn’t responsible for the horrible food! Will never return!
Great for a celebratory work lunch with colleagues. Food was great and everyone enjoyed the ambiance. Will definitely be here again
Excellent food, excellent service great atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Lovely restaurant, came here two years ago and they still got a fantasticly delisious carbonara!!
Great food. Best cheese plate I ever had. Chicken marsala was spectacular. Prices very reasonable. Highly recommend.
Overall good, as always, but slight mishap although a quiet evening
We love this place!
One of my favorite restaurants, food is always fresh and tasty. Staff is always friendly and I love the atmosphere.
Food and service are good, but prices are quite high. There are not affordable appetizers and they need some options that cost less than an entree. Chocolate bread pudding was outstanding and the highlight of the meal.
After walking by this attractive Italian cafe dozens of times, I finally stopped in for dinner with a friend on a Thursday night. The service was good, the wine list was quite good, and the crowd was lively without being boisterous or obnoxious -- but the pasta (which we both intended to make our main dish) was only adequate. I might eat there again, if I am in the neighborhood, but I would not go out of my way for it.
Great turkey meatballs!!!
Very mediocre Italian. Our server was very efficient and friendly, wish I could give a better review of the food, but I just can't. We had the fried calamari as one of the appetizers. Upon presentation, I could just tell that they would not be good. The calamari itself was tender, but the coating was mushy and soggy. The marinara sauce that it was served with was delicious, it's too bad that the overall dish was disappointing. I would highly recommend the tomato and mozzarella bruschetta. The bread that it was served with was delicious. For the main dish, I had the cannelloni stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach. It was served on top of a dollop of tomato sauce. It was just so dry and disappointing. Also, an authentic Italian restaurant should be serving freshly grated cheese. The grated cheese at Petrarca was like the powder consistency of store bought grated cheese in those plastic containers. As a lifelong New Yorker, who has experienced many different Italian restaurants, this is one that I will not be returning to.
Food great. Service great. Ambiance was great until thoughtless parents with screaming kids arrived.
Service was exceptional. Food was amazing. The daily specials were beyond expectations.
After several fine visits there this one was a bust. It was packed and understaffed. Wewited almost a full hour for our entree, and they arrived lukewarm. We’ll return but not as routinely or quick as before.
Slow service / one appetizer was missing / waited to long between courses / one wrong dessert / appears restaurant wasn’t prepared for the indoor and outdoor crowds. / only one tequila choice / and no St. Germaine liquor ? Understand it’s a wine bar but should stock a full bar.
Always love coming here. The food is great and the staff makes you feel like you're old friends.
Great place with terrific service and amazing food. Authentic Italian. Modern, welcoming ambiance.
Delicious meal, had staters of tuna tartar and a yummy beet salad entrees of orecchiette with sausage and perfectly cook
On bone branzino... my gut tells me that the host was the owner and he would do a better service to both his regular clientele and to building his biz with newbies , to retire the position and hire a warm and friendly host/hostess
But all and all a wonderful go to place to be guaranteed a delicious fresh light perfectly balance healthy and deeeeeli ious Meal hands down, a tad noisy but not too too pAd the ceilinga
Petrarca was a great find and it’s nice to have outstanding food, good bottle of wine and great service for $200 for two in NYC.
