About Petits Plats
Petits Plats is a very pretty French bistro located in a town house directly across from the Woodley Park metro stop, the Marriott Wardman and Omni Shoreham Hotels. Step inside and you will find affordable delicious food in a very romantic atmosphere. On cold days, dining next to one of the 4 wood burning fireplaces is a nice touch. Summer time, enjoy the great view sitting outside in our private patio: watching the passersby on busy Connecticut avenue is a major amusement!

Petits Plats Ratings and Reviews
We made our first trip to Petit Plats to celebrate a co-birthday. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the welcoming staff, the warm ambience and the overall great feel of the dining room. The food was quite good, the wine excellent and the staff attentive. We will absolutely be back and recommend to anyone looking for a casual, warm French dining experience. A great little find!
Visited this French Bistro after trying most of the top-tier DC French Restaurants. While I don't think they have the menu depth you might find at some of the more famous joints, the food is outstanding, and we found the restaurant to be more intimate. Service was slightly slower than I expected. We had a great time overall and the total bill was $120 (incl. tax, tip, etc) for two with each having an appetizer, main course, desert and glass of wine. This will certainly be a regular rotation for us.
This our first dining experience at Petits Plats and it was to celebrate our anniversary! The food was wonderful with ample portions. Service was attentive and very helpful. The tuna and stroganoff entrees were superb as was the wine. I highly recommend Petits Plats and plan to return.
The restaurant was cute and cozy. The service was pretty good and food was great. I usually bring my cardigan to the restaurant since most of place gets cold, but not the case here. The A/C kicked in once in a while, so it was warm. Other than that, it was cozy with good food.
Probably not an objective review as it was too warm for comfort due to the extreme weather. Food was good but unmemorable. Service was adequate but challenged by two big parties. Coolest area was the second floor but noise of large party made it difficult to talk.
We went to Petit Plats for a weekend date. The food was okay for French Cuisine. The prices were a bit high for the quality, but it was pretty good. The restaurant was somewhat stuffy from the heat, but we had a decent time. I probably would not visit again, but it was worth a try.
2nd visit for me. I am impressed and will recommend highly to others.
I chose the Menu that did the pairing of food and wine and found it to be excellent. the food was exquisite, with delicate sauces complimenting the proteins served. The wines were certainly a toughtful and lovely addition to each plate.
the service was friendly and prompt
delighted with the whole experience.
We loved this restaurant! Located very convenient to the Woodley Park metro, this quiet three-level french restaurant was low key and refined; the food was delicious, with nice presentation and a creative menu (try the beet napoleon). The wines were well priced and our wait staff was very helpful. Such a treat!! We'll definitely be back.
It is always a pleasure to dine at PP. Family owned, family always present, excellent staff, lots of employees working there a long time at all levels--and now a truly outstanding chef--Patrick who really knows his stuff. PP is an informal bistro, almost like a cafe/restaurant on the left bank or in the Marais sections of Paris. we always feel comfortable there--and note that the visitors from out of town are surprised and positive--really enjoy themselves, just like the regulars. It is also handy that it is located right on top of the Woodley/Zoo METRO. PP is in the very solid B+ range for Washington restaurants--and often better.
We had not been to this restaurant before and tried it on a lark. It was absolutely delicious. From start to finish, we enjoyed the meal, the service and the ambiance. My mushroom appetizer was perfectly cooked with exceptional flavor and my bronzini filet was exceptionally well done. My wife had the mushroom ravioli and Moules Provencale which were also both exceptional. Finally, the dark chocolate mousse was my favorite mousse I have ever eaten, though it had more of a pudding consistency than a mousse consistency. We will definitely be returning.
This restaurant is phenomenal. A nice piece of Paris in DC. Very traditional French food and the staff is excellent. Perfect for a nice quiet dinner or a great group dinner in the private dining room upstairs. My wife and I actually had a fantastic rehearsal dinner there five years ago.
Petits Plats was, yet again, wonderful. The foie gras was incredible and I was blown away by the soft-shelled crab. My s.o's gazpacho was equally as good and his steak was incredibly tasty. The waiter very kindly suggested a wine that was within our price range and it was also incredible. Thank you as always!
We were celebrating our anniversary. They greeted us with a special Kir aperitif - a wonderful welcome. The food was fabulous (best scallops I've ever had) and eating outside on a beautiful DC evening was perfect. A scrumptious apple tart to finish the night....would eat here again tomorrow!
We ate here 9 years ago and it was a fantastic meal. Just ate here again last week and it was once again, wonderful. Had the chef's fixed price with wine pairings. Superb--the chocolate fondant at the end is the best fondant we've ever had....Am returning again next time in DC.
Great food. We ordered ther wrong cocktail, a peach bellini instead of a pear bellini, but could never flag down a waitrer to change our order. The peach billini was very good, even if it was the wrong cocktail. Somewhat loud, due to large groups. Menu had many very attracvtive sounding items.
About once a month we go to Le PP for a Saturday late lunch about 2:00. Last time I had a salad that sounded bizarre, but it worked: shrimp, scallops, a white fish, lettuce, grapefruit sections, and PESTO! The quiche is a favorite too.
The service is always outstanding. My family enjoyed visiting until after 4:00. The waiter only brought the check when we asked for it; we never felt rushed by the staff.
