Rack of lamb was superb. Caesar salad nice but workmanlike. Waiter did nice job suggesting an affordable but nice burgundy.
Ambiance a bit pedestrian. But food is good.
The restaurant had delicious and (as far as I could tell) authentic French food, yet was uncrowded. I cannot explain why it is not more popular.
It made for a great Saturday brunch. We both had a version of eggs Benedict. The portions were perfect. The dish came with a salad, potatoes two, poached eggs, salmon and hollandaise sauce on bread. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. The service was on point. They didn’t hover, but checked on us frequently.
Great food, excellent service, just the right size portions.
Wonderful French food and good wine selections by glass or bottle. Waitstaff very attentive. I had 3 sequential appetizers creating a fantastic meal. All dishes perfectly plated. The dessert menu is excellent as well and includes crepes. Very easy to get to as it is 1/2 block from the Wardman Park/Adams-Morgan/Zoo Red line Metro stop.
3pm lunch. Only customer: me, wife and 10 year old son. Escargot was over cooked. Service was exceptionally poor.
Booked late Sunday but they closed the restaurant at 8.15 before I arrived but I went back Tuesday night and the service and food was spectacular, fabulous food and friendly staff
Very good dinner at Petits Plats with a true French atmosphere. I had the snails followed by a seafood risotto and for dessert a crème brulée. All very good. The table were large and comfortable and the noise level low, which I love. We will come back to this restaurant.
Local gem. Great cocktail list. Nice starters and good main courses. The escargot were fantastic - made even better by the crunchy crusted soft French bread. The fresh fish came with crispy skin and tasty sides. No faults.
We really value this restaurant for its authentic French flavor. We go there with some frequency although we live in Maryland and parking is not too convenient. It is worth the effort to park, but also the Metro is so close. It is a gem.
Traditional French bistro cuisine delivered with above-average f;air. Hanger steak and Magret de Canard both excellent. Reasonable prices on wine list. Recommended
While on vacation in D.C. came across this restaurant quite by chance. What a lucky find in the Woolley Park area. We ordered the salmon special, which was expertly repeated and encrusted with a thin layer of potatoes. The dish was accompanied by thinly sliced carrots and green beans, all nicely presented. The bread was warm and freshly baked. A wonderful diner.
Restaurant was very nice. Not stuffy, the food was good, and there was a reasonably priced wine list
As always, Petits Plats serves genuine French cuisine in a beautiful old world atmosphere. The service is excellent, the food is exquisite, the wine list is full of great values, and it is super convenient to great hotels. Fine dining at a reasonable price. Looking forward to the next time.
Great Italian food. Nice varied menu. Steak and cheese sandwich was average said one member of my party. Bolognese was excellent.
Petits Plats is a good restaurant. My recommendation is that they invest in air conditioning.
We came for Mother’s Day and had a spectacular afternoon dinner. Everything was well prepared, timely served and just delicious. Petits Plats is a real French restaurant with French owners and a staff that has been there for a long time. Highly recommended.
Dining here was a delicious experience - Irish salmon in potato crust is perfection - husband thought the same with his beef bourguignon. The setting is also special - think French town house with that "soft pastel" feel. We were in town for 6 nights - tried several decent restaurants, but this one was by far the winner. We highly recommend.
Service was spotty at times. Food and ambience were very good.
Very nice French. Good wines by glass. Dessert items were great also
Service and food were outstanding- like dining with a family member - we felt comfortable-were not rushed and our waiter was friendly and got to know us thanks for a memorable experience that we will repeat
Food was good. Service was not what was expected and lacked in comparison to other restaurants we have dined in DC. Wait staff all business. Lady waiting on us was unaware of Gluten free selections and lacked adequate knowledge of the menu to make GF suggestions. Wanted to showcase local a good local establishment to visiting friends. This one missed the mark.
Excellent duck confit!
Great food and service. Nice atmosphere.
Every time I come to DC, I make a point to dine at Petit Plats. It is my favorite and the food never disappoints.
Food and wine were very good. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable. It's a cute neighborhood French bistro.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return the next time I am in DC.
Was an easy walk from the Marriott Wardman and delicious
Delightful meal on the small front patio. Menu has nice variety and seasonal offerings. Wine offerings paired well with the entrees. The host and wait staff were attentive without rushing me or being intrusive during the meal. I dine here whenever I visit DC.
Really, really great french food in a neighbory setting
Celebrated our daughter's 20th birthday. They treated her very good. Had a beautiful dessert plate with her name on it. Very special. Did not even charge for the dessert.
What a find!! Cozy, amazing food, lovely ambience. The best muscles I have ever had! Well done
Everything was perfect! Food is to die for! The fire was gorgeous and so romantic. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Unfortunately, there were rude guests in the same room (demanded that fire should be turned off as one guy was hot) which was a bit unpleasant but restaurant staff was lovely and very attentive.
We would highly recommend this restaurant!
Great reliable traditional French dishes
Lynn and I have been fans of Petits Plats since not long after it opened, but it's been several years since we've had a chance to get back (I don't get to DC as often as I used to). Over the years I've been there for dinners, for group events, and its always been marvelous, but my favorite is probably going for a late long lunch when we can relax and linger over a bottle of wine. So we booked a 1:15 table on Monday. When we arrived, most of the tables in the little main dining room were still full with people finishing their lunches, but Edgar seated us right away. The room is bright and cheerful. Because of the chill in the air the fireplace was lit and gently warming. Lynn ordered the arugula salad and, of course, some mussels (mariniere). She says she forgets there's anything else on the menu because she always has mussels and they're always fabulous. (Edgar told us that they have mussels delivered every day, including Sunday, and examine them carefully before accepting the shipment. He says they'd rather tell people they're out of mussels than to serve something that wasn't up to their standard). I had escargot and the steak frites. The steak comes out sliced and perfectly cooked. The frites are some of the best that I've had anywhere. The wine was a delicious Burgundy that matched perfectly with the food. It was a wonderful experience. We weren't at all surprised.
First time at this neighborhood gem and our group of 5 very much enjoyed our dinner. We had a lovely table just by the fireplace on an unusually cold DC evening. The snails, duck confit, homemade fois gras terrine and beef bourguignon were wonderful. There is a reason that when done well these are such classic dishes. We were a bit disappointed in the crepes for dessert but otherwise had a great dinner. We would all strongly recommend this restaurant for locals and visitors staying in the nearby Omni Shoreham or Marriott.
Great food, old-school service, and a charming, quiet ambiance.
Excellent food, as always, with excellent service. Menu is sufficiently broad as to serve a variety of taste, and we have never been disappointed with our choices.
It was wonderful to find another delightful French restaurant in DC!
