We are repeat diners here which means the food is good. Tried the raclette...not as sharp as the fondue but creamy and just plain fun.
Great spot to eat before attending an event at Merrill Auditorium.
Delicious! Flavor and more layers of flavor. So delicious. Did I mention that it was delicious? Perfect portions. I was full but not stuffed. So creative for dessert. Go and enjoy a fine meal.
Fantastic food and service. One of our favorite restaurants to visit. Absolutely recommend.
Our server was wonderful, the food was great, and the ambiance was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
Yummy cocktails and crepes! Unfriendly waitress didn’t ruin our brunch.
Though we sadly missed Valentines Day, we made it for brunch the next morning. Though they were quite busy, our server Ian, with a little help from the other server the lovely Hailey, we had another outstanding meal. This meal ended up quite special. We started with with a glass of pink bubbly in honor of the holiday (though we do enjoy it on non holidays) and took in the menu and the specials. First was wine and Ian suggested a wine not on the list; but unfortunately they had sold the last bottle so we made a choice from the (new expanded) list with no regrets. We started with salads. As we were enjoying them, and a sip or two, I mentioned the only thing missing from Paris was some lovely crusty bread. We asked and were told that their bread didn't come in in time for lunch; but they did find a little for us and the day was made. Our mains came delivered by Ian and Hailey, my Croque Madame was perfect and Julie tried the Quiche du Jour, again, wonderful; and our usual, a side of house frites (they are perfect with anything.....ok, or alone). Unfortunately that was sufficient so no pastry today. We are so very happy that we don't live in Portland, even the hour and a half from NH and we end up at PJ's whenever we can (now our treat is come up for a night, dinner with them, a relaxing evening, then brunch before we head home. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants in Portland, but PJ's appeal is a casual French bistro. Nothing we call 'phu-phu', just relaxed, good food, good (excellent) service and good wine (oui)). Long diatribe, but this time spent at PJ's was exceptional, thank you all. Bill and Julie
Amazing Valentines dinner! Perfect from champagne and oysters to the bottle of Margaux to the strawberry tarte ...... always a treat!
We were seated promptly, at a very nice table. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. This was not our first visit, and will not be our last. Lovely Valentine's evening.
Our party of four had four different items from the menu , each was very delicious chicken, onion soup, mussels and the cheese and ham crepes.
The portions were sufficient and filling. The salt level did not overwhelm the flavors as is sometimes the case in restaurant food. The staff was helpful and attentive.
Very cute, great service. Wished they had gluten and dairy free options.
The food and service at Petite Jacqueline never disappoints. French Onion soup, half chicken and beef bourguignon were delicious! Pot de creme was good too with both the strawberry jam/peanut butter and caramel/almond. However I’d be happy with just a chocolate pot de creme without anything else on the bottom. All chocolate please!! Our server was great even doing a good job handling the table next to us who brought their baby (note this restaurant is really not appropriate for babies and very young children). Thanks PJs for another nice dinner!
From initial greeting by Alexandra, to immediate water and menu deliveries!! Quiche was yummy, and my friend said the special soup was great. I had fries— ooh so worth the calorie splurge. Afogato was a lovely finishing touch
Many restaurants are successful because they are either trendy or are written up in tourist destination magazines. Others actually earn their ‘stars;’ Petite Jacqueline works hard, is consistent in every aspect, and deserves bravos each and every time we eat there!
Fabulous service, a memorable atmosphere ,
delicious food, and comfortable seating with huge windows overlooking historic neighborhood buildings.
This has become our "go to" place in Portland. Great food, atmosphere, service...very pleasant dining experience.
We dined here for a birthday dinner treat. The service was good, but the food was so-so. My partner had the Branzino which he was very pleased with, and I had the 6.5 oz Ribeye "Steak-Frites". I would not recommend this particular dish. The fries were yummy, but the ribeye, although tender, was fatty to the point where I felt short changed. I left feeling like I had paid $29 for a bite of meat and a lot of fries. I ordered a field greens salad for $6 which would have been acceptable for its simplicity had the greens been thoroughly washed. Particularly since it was a salad of solely greens, the grit stood out. Might try again for lunch, but I didn't find my dinner to be worth the price.
We had a lovely dinner while passing through Portland. Appetizer, dinner and dessert all delicious. Our server, RC, was most gracious and friendly! Will definitely come again the next time we are in Portland!
Great all around
We love this restaurant. Great French kitchen. Nice wine selection. Good value. Go to for date night.
Excellent onion soup, local mussels with pommes frites, perfectly cooked steaks and great efficient friendly service. Love the ambiance, the large windows on Market Street, a great dinner all around!
Food was mediocre and took forever to arrive. So sorry to say this!
What an outstanding meal. When we are in the area we often head to PJ's for lunch or brunch; this trip we were in Portland and took the opportunity to have dinner with them. Everything was perfect. Food, wine and service all were at their best. Throughout the meal we shared so we were able to try twice the selections, every bit of the food was exceptional. Some of the staff working in the evening was different from lunch but they had the same talent for professionalism blended with friendliness. We now are thinking of an occasional night in Portland so we can again visit PJ's for dinner. Thank you, Bill and Julie
The service was excellent. There are so many choices for restaurants in Portland, so if service isn't great, no one need return. Petite Jacqueline is a restaurant to go to BECAUSE the service is so good. The food is wonderful, although portion sizes continue to shrink (esp apps), but the service can't be beaten anywhere in the city. We love PJ.
Lovely Sunday birthday lunch!!!
This was my third visit--a perfect spot to meet an old friend!!!
Wonderful Sunday brunch, first time there, been wanting to visit for quite a while. It exceeded expectations!
I don’t remember our server’s name but he was excellent.
The food was awful and the menu changes hurt the restaurant
Crepes with meager at best filling. It’s all about the filling and less about what carries it
Fabulous!! We went for New Years Eve dinner and everything was perfect!
We have enjoyed the food and service at Petit Jacqueline several times each year and always at New Years eve. Impeccable service, wonderful food and an ambience that reminds us of the bistros in Paris.
The restaurant was small and cramped and a loud group behind us made it difficult to enjoy our romantic dinner. The food was good but not memorable though a good value. My duck breast was served nearly raw. I wish the server had warned me that would be the result of their medium rare. I had never experience fowl cooked like a steak. The dish had a sauce too but it added no flavor that I could discern. My wife’s beef bourguignon (braised short rib) was the previous night’s special and it looked and tasted like a left-over ... dried out though tasty. It was served like a stew that needed bread for the gravy but none was served without asking. The cocktails to start were fantastic as was the dessert and nicely strong coffee. Overall, we left happy enough but probably would not return for a special occasion ... perhaps a quick lunch would’ve been the better choice.
The food and service was outstanding. We were very happy with our meals and will definitely be coming back!
Celebrated our 14th Anniversary with Dinner here - Excellent food, excellent and friendly service, just a wonderful experience all around! We’ll be back!
Small cozy restaurant delicious food, full bar, friendly staff. Staff appears to pitch in to help each other....nice. All in a all, a great experience. Will return. Would definitely recommend to others.
Excellent mid-afternoon crepes on Christmas Eve. The service and ambiance made for a nice leisurely meal.
Such a delightful place to be on Christmas Eve. Great holiday music and ambience. Food was pretty good. French onion soup could have spent more time under the broiler. Quiche and salad was tasty although I miss the mile high quiche at PJ of years ago. Waiter wasn’t as attentive as he could have been and, in all honesty, he needed a shower. Hair greasy, unkempt clothing and bad body odor took away from his charming personality.
I had my birthday dinner here with my family. We had a charcuterie board and deviled eggs for appetizers. I had the burger which was delicious. The drinks were great as well. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. 5 stars!
