I lovely representation of a French bistro in terms of menu, wine list, execution and ambiance. When I crave French food, I go here.
Amazing Mother’s Day brunch! We went for the last seating and the staff was engaging the food was excellent! Great value on drinks. Would definitely recommend!!!
Petit Jacqueline is definitely worth a visit. It’s small and very casual. The menu is interesting, offering lite fair such as crepes with salad, but also entrees such as haddock Provençal or duck over linguini, the special when we were there. The food is creatively prepared and presented and is very good, on par with any of the good Portland places. Service was also very good.
I completely enjoyed my experience at Petite Jacqueline. The food was exceptional, the service was timely and friendly; and the atmosphere was inviting. We both agreed that the French onion soup was the best we've ever had. The Croque Madame was rich and delectable. We also shared an order of the house frites with a side of aioli which we both loved.
I have been to this bistro for lunch many times with my girlfriends but first time for dinner. This was a wedding anniversary dinner for my husband and I and I have to say this restaurant did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the service swift and even though it was almost full, you did not hear other diners conversations and felt really private. The sparkling wine both rose and white were excellent and the dessert pot de creme out of this world. My husband had the three course dinner with haddock for $31 and I had the beef bourguignon which was perfection..definitely one of our favorite restaurants and a a must go to when in Portland.
Fantastic place in the heart of the old port area. Te dishes we enjoyed were just sensational, as was the wine list. It's also very close to the downtown cinema complex. Can't wait to return.
Perfect place to meet a girlfriend or colleague for lunch. Light and airy inside, quirky music selection, great service.
Brunch was excellent! The duck confit crepe was incredible and the French omelet was great as well. Definitely will be returning!
We have enjoyed many meals at PJs. Our 4 friends had never been before but all enjoyed it and will be back. Good service and delicious food including French onion soup, Brussels sprouts and tomato & kale soup du jour. Chicken and beef bourguignon entrees are classics and always good. Duck special was good but popular so they ran out and only 1 person at our table got it. It did get very noisy so it was hard to hear people at other end of table. Love the big windows overlooking the street. Thanks for another great meal!
Great place, this was my second time there. The server was very attentive, the food came out perfectly timed and perfectly cooked. There was no rush on getting us in and out, the menu options are a perfect balance of something for everyone paralleled with not having an overwhelmingly amount to choose from. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
We returned to Portland and had to try PJ for dinner (we had a memorable brunch 6 weeks ago). Every aspect of the restaurant is a pleasure. In a city of good food, Petite Jacqueline stands out as one of the best.
Much nicer atmosphere than previous location, happily the food was just as good. Old fashioned French comfort food and bistro vibe.
Excellent food...great service..quiet enough to hold a business meeting....
Would come again for a lunch with friends, and would try a dinner too!
My husband, daughter and I had our Easter brunch here. The food was great, and our waiter was friendly and efficient. We plan many return visits!
Easter and birthday brunch
We were at Petite Jacqueline for brunch on Easter. Our meals were perfect. The quality of the food and drink was exceptional. I have never had a better Bellini. It was not too sweet, just perfect. Our service was very good and quite relaxed. We enjoyed a 2 hour, very leisurely meal with 3 courses. We would return tomorrow. It was that good!
Food was great, and the coffee was amazing! I can't wait to go back.
Had brunch there, the egg sandwich with homemade sausage and homefries was delicious, as was the eggs benedict with fresh lobster. Had luscious strawberry and chocolate crepe for dessert - pricey ($11) but it was enough for 2 of us. Only suggestion would be to have more varied menu - more non egg, non crepe items with few more luncheon type entrees.
A hidden gem among all of the new trendy spots in Portland. Never disappoints. And it's possible to have a conversation without yelling!
We really love Petite Jacqueline. It is a beautiful location with big windows. The food is very good and the staff is very nice and always accommodating. We go whenever we can.
My daughter took us out for lunch on our 36th anniversary. We like Petit Jacqueline for lunch or brunch since the food is light and satisfying. Great pick for such an occasion.
It was a quiet Monday night, so we had a nice table right by those great large windows on Market Street and an unrushed relaxed dinner of steak frites, all kind of cheeses and creme brûlée with a good red Burgundy, all with a friendly efficient service. A great bistro experience.
Fantastic dinner and the service was extraordinary. Jake made excellent recommendations with regards to the wine list.
Looking forward to returning!
5 ⭐️ experience for sure.
Fabulous as alway!
Absolutely outstanding; the food and service were excellent! The chef, I wished that I could have met him/her to pay many compliments.
Fantastic food, great service, and terrific ambiance. What more can you ask for? Looking forward to coming back!
Jacqueline was a great experience. Server was attentive, professional and knowledgeable on entrees. The value for the quality of food and service is quite impressive.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service.
Wonderful meal, superior service, and an overall great experience. (Sublime creme brulee!)
Wonderful meal and attentive service in a bistro setting. It’s like being in Paris with an acceptable noise level. The carafes of house wine are very good and the waitstaff will offer a sample before you decide, nice touch! Parking is difficult as you are in the Old Port but free weekdays after 6 and all day Saturday and Sunday. Reserve well ahead through Open Table.
All around favorite place for close friends and family visits. Lovely Portland spot, service impeccable, food marvelous, ambience comfortable and great for an evening.
My meal is always perfect.
Lovely food in a sweet setting. Very good service. Brunch is kind of pricey for what you get.
Love it! French onion soup is amazing! I get that and the half chicken every time. I even told them to “surprise me” with a mock tail and it was out of this world!
Petite Jacqueline is a lovely space. The service was very good, and the desserts were excellent. Our food was good except the steak was very tough. This was the one disappointing part of a very nice experience.
The Cod Provencal and Duck au Poivre entrees were outstanding as was the friendly, efficient service. This was our first time at Petite Jacqueline and we will definitely return.
Loved this place. The food and service was excellent! Will go again.
Can always count on good choices and good preparation. Nice to be able to hear your companions in a pleasant atmosphere. All good!
I should first say, I reserve 5 stars for just a few restaurants. Our server Kristy was very attentive and personable. The space is quaint café stylish which fits with the vibe. My husband and I shared several plates. Next time we will definitely advance order the raclette. If you haven't, you should absolutely order the fondue to share. I love the open large windows. As I've referred to, we will be back for sure.
