Had an excellent lunch with our granddaughter. All dishes were well prepared and extremely flavorful. Only surprise was how few people were there on a Friday afternoon - I believe a total of 10 were there including us. A lot of people are missing out on some really good options.

Dinner at Petit Louis was excellent. Got the whole chicken carved table side which was delicious and also got some excellent appetizers. Portions seemed small for the price, appetizers especially.

Lovely time. Petite Louis never disappoints. My girlfriends and I get together the second Saturday of January to celebrate our birthdays and the past two years we have had a celebratory lunch at Petite Louis. This year the server offered us a complementary glass of sparkling wine in honor of our birthday celebration. The food was amazing as always. we will definitely return.

As always, my dining experience here was terrific. My friend who had never dined at Petit Louis remarked that the flavor of her mesclun greens salad was so "clean and fresh", a comment I myself have made in the past. The duck magret was perfectly cooked and made even more delightful by the generous side of forest mushrooms. Though the chefs move on, the food quality, in my opinion, remains consistently superb at this restaurant.

We like Petit Louis and regularly dine there. This was clearly an "off" day for the chef - no idea what the background was however this was an outlier from our usual experience of excellent food prepared well. The waiter was quick to refund the failed meal - however the evening was not up to the usual standard. We will return however it does happen that something runs amok in the kitchen - once in a rare while.

Petit Louis Columbia is THE place to celebrate New Year's Eve. Jen's warm welcome, Issac's great wine recommendations, the dining room staff, and the chef! The live music was lively and very Left Bank. The food is excellent, from the Pan Seared Foie Gras and Shrimp Quenelles to the Grilled Scallops and Veal Blanquette. We enjoyed the wine pairings that are always excellent and such a good way to experience great variety. The Raspberry Mascarpone Tart was a beautiful presentation and delicious end to the meal. This is our third New Year's Eve at Petit Louis and we look forward to many more.

What a hidden treasure. Never did I expect a last minute dinner reservation would turn into a night I'll remember for many years. The food, service, atmosphere, live music and that little extra "something" that can't be quantified all came together on New Years Eve to create one enchanted evening! Thank You Petit Louis.

Went on New Year's Even and was surprised. Not a zoo. Good service. Wine Steward knew his stuff. Prix Fixe dinner had good choices and both of us had seafood. All in all a nice meal. Pricey.

Petit Louis is a rare find in Columbia. Very good food & wine, great service & a French bistro atmosphere. Anyone looking for that special place should look no further than Petit Louis.

I invited a friend here for a holiday brunch. She loved it, as I knew she would. The soup of the day was exquisite, and the server was pleasant, charming and knowledgeable. I keep coming back here for the wonderful service and impeccable food. The ambience is perfect as well!

What a great restaurant! This was my second time. I came with my wife for my birthday. We had the braised short ribs of beef. Just fantastic. The appetizer was the butternut squash soup. Again just great. We were full and did not order dessert. However, since it was my birthday, the waiter brought a nice sliver of cake with a candle. What a nice touch!! Much appreciated.

I've been here twice now, once for lunch, once for dinner, and have been very happy both times.
Food quality is outstanding and the prices very reasonable. You could pay more at other restaurants for far less quality. It's a beautiful dining room, not too loud and great ambiance. I will return

Petit Louis is a great restaurant. I usually go to their location in Baltimore. I’ve eaten at the Columbia location twice before and it was great - everything was great - the food, the staff, everything. This time I was a little disappointed with the food. I had the beef bourguignon; I didn’t love the flavor and it was too dry; it was OK. And our server was nice but was a bit too formal - tried to listen her up - she knew her stuff however.

Petit Louis never disappoints! Our waiter, the gentleman with the sweet French accent is attentive and utterly respectful as I met with friends I hadn't seen in a long time. We were able to catch up on our chitchat, yet taste our choice of wines before confirming selection and listen to specials he recited (unbelievable what he commits to memory!!) and never miss a beat! Our food was delicious, he brought me trout done to perfection and really listened when I requested it be prepared with minimal butter---I highly recommend again and again.

My husband and I visit Petit Louis on the Lake quite frequently - probably more than we should - but every time we go, no matter whether we sit at the bar or at a table, the food is exceptional, service is friendly and outstanding, and the ambiance unmatched. We typically order something different each time and have never been disappointed. Some of our favorite main dishes include: omelette du jour, beef bourguignon, crispy pork belly, rainbow trout, and roasted duck magret. The seasonal dishes are also fantastic, with the most recent one that we've tried being the roasted pork with butternut squash dressing. Always save room for dessert, even when there is no room. Currently, there is a poached pear in Beaujolais wine with homemade vanilla ice cream and caramel on the menu - highly recommend, wish this was a permanent dessert. The mousse au chocolat is decadent, profiteroles a sweet sin, and the creme brulee classic. From Amanda the bartender to Isaac the sommelier to Bernard (I think) the waiter, service is extremely friendly, approachable, and always striving to go above and beyond. There is always someone in attendance for every guest in the restaurant. And speaking of the restaurant, it is like a mini trip to Paris each time. The decor and the lighting are spot on, even in the comptour, which is a great lunch spot, by the way, - try the croque monsieur with French press coffee. In the warmer months, the restaurant overlooks the lake, so outdoor dining is also lovely. If you have read this entire long review, you know by now how wonderful Petit Louis on the Lake is. Go there, and enjoy an hour or two or three visiting La Ville Lumière in Columbia, MD.

I introduced my newly 16-year-old niece to this nice restaurant. We were there for brunch. Our waiter was special in that he fixed my niece up with a drink that closely resembled my mimosa. We enjoyed out shared appetizers and quiche, and even though we had eaten our fill, and without any mention of it, he sent my niece home with a beautiful tart as a birthday gift, packaged for the road. He had noticed that she opened a gift, and decided that day must have been special. Our visit was lovely.

Repeat visit, so we do like it. Salmon was excellent. Duck, coq au Vin and omelette were very good, but temperature was too cold. Timing of service was off. Unexpected for this spot. They did make it up to us, in discounting the check and pastries to go.
We will be back. We have had excellent experiences in the past.

We were meeting friends from Bethesda MD & York PA so Columbia turned out to be the best place to meet, and the women all voted for French. Our table was ready early, and our waiter more than accommodating. Turned out he's a native French speaker from the Caribbean, a very gentlemanly guy (so sorry I don't have his name, he's awesome). A few of us have very specific diets, and the restaurant had many choices for us as well as allowing us to change items. We ordered wine by the glass, a Negroni that was perfect, and for me, a Grimbergen beer - which I tried in Nice and have trouble finding here. Awesome! Wine by the glass had some good selections, by the bottle you can find any French red or white wine you want, but I didn't see any French Rosé - hope they will add some.
Four of us ordered steak, all of us were happy with it - Filets cooked perfectly, tasty and tender. One had the duck, didn't leave a speck on her plate, guessing it was good. The shrimp over ratatouille was another choice that was good - a low carb choice.
For dessert we split a Pear Tartin a la mode 6 ways - everyone got a taste and it was good. I wish I had tried the chocolate mousse, next time!
There's a free parking garage across the street from Petit Louis, and in summer you can dine outside on their patio by the Columbia Lakefront.

We had a very lovely dinner. We tend to dine early (5:30) so not surprising that it was quiet upon arrival. We were seated immediately with a reservation for three and placed next to the fireplace which was perfect for a chilly night. I had the vegetarian couscous- flavorful and light. My husband had the steak frites, which were cooked just as he asked. Service was just right- polite and attentive without disruptions. I love the ambiance, staff, and food at Petit Louis.
