Petit Louis Bistro - Roland Park Ratings and Reviews
Always a classic. From casual date night to special occasion, this Baltimore fixture draws you into a delightful Parisian experience that simultaneously delivers on flavor, atmosphere and service while avoiding pretension. We have dined here so many times and have experienced such consistent quality, it was only fair that we finally expressed our affection for this absolute gem of a restaurant.
My family and I have been dining at Petit Louis for more than 10 years (it is our go-to Christmas Eve dinner as well) and we have never had a meal that was less than perfection! It is a great neighborhood restaurant and we often seen friends there when we stop in. Patrick and Emily are always friendly and accommodating, Mark has continuously helped us select the perfect wine pairing, and the menu is always full of delicious seasonal updates. Highly highly recommend this to anyone living in Roland Park and beyond - it is absolutely worth the drive! Come on a cold night and you'll instantly feel cozy.
I really liked this place, good, solid food at a reasonable price, especially for a French restaurant. A fantastic and lengthy wine list, with affordable options $40 or under as well as special wines. Service was also fantastic. I don't get to Baltimore often, but when I do I'll be sure to return.
A lovely Sunday night out. Restaurant was lively. The hostess found us a relatively quiet corner table. From my limited experience, I found the dishes very "French,' which we appreciated. I had escargot and quiche. My husband had a steak - maybe too big pile of pommes frites would be our only criticism. Our server generously poured a crisp wine that complemented my food. Husband had a Belgian beer. Several families dining - nice to see not all children require junk food. A real gem .
We are always pleased with the food, ambiance and service! On this particular occasion (our son's birthday) we continuously had to move our chairs to allow room for the cheese cart, my suggestion would be to purchase a smaller cart! The food and wine were fabulous! We love to visit Petit Louis for special evening celebrations!
Authentic French food experience. Good food, excellent service. The problem is the the tables are too close together. It is very loud because conversations at the tables next to you are so close. Really not comfortable sitting at the tables in the middle of the restaurant which is small.
It was the first time there for my girlfriend and I. We were very pleased with the experience. We were seated promptly by the Maitre'D and greeted shortly thereafter by our extremely attentive waiter. We were presented with an option for regular or bottled water and given time to figure out our drink order. Once ordered, the drinks arrived timely and our server went over that nights special. My girlfriend ordered the New York Strip that she absolutely raved about. I myself ordered escargot as an appetizer which were done perfectly. And my main was broiled skate. This is probably the only restaurant in Baltimore I could actually get that from. Also cooked perfectly. Definitely not a place you would go to once a week(unless you're rich), but definitely a place for a special occasion or to impress on a date. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. I know I will be returning
Petit Louis Bistro is a gem. The food is always excellent and the service superb. Our son attended Johns Hopkins University and recently graduated. But we still drive from the Philadelphia suburbs frequently to visit this restaurant. I had butternut squash soup which was divine. And, I followed that with duck breast while my husband had the steak tartare and then chicken breast with red cabbage and spaetzle. The wine recommendations are always wonderful. We had a lovely pinot noir. This is one of our favorite restaurants!!!
Always amazing and never disappointing. This is an incredible restaurant with food and service that are way above average. Patrick will welcome you, and the superb wait staff will ensure that your dining experience is flawless. Menu is outstanding, and everything is delicious.
The food was wonderful and very authentic. Wehad the prix fixe menu which was excellent from the butternut squash soup, lamb sirloin with vegetables to the fruit tart for desert . The host was extremely accommodating and helpful. The waiter could not have been better , his help with the wine selection was greatly appreciated. The only distraction that I have ever noticed going to Petit Louis is the noise level when it is crowded; other than that it is a superb restaurant.
Great dining experience. Delicious entrees. Service was the best I have experienced in the Baltimore area. I've shared the awesome dining experience with many! We were uncertain to the wine choice but the wine steward was so knowledgeable that we were able to choose the most enjoyable wine that I have tasted in a long time!
The bread and butter were nothing too special. The mussels were, on the contrary, excellent — the mussels tender, the broth nicely seasoned. My friend had the fish (special that night), which looked appetizing. Unfortunately I did not taste it. I had the duck confit, which was well-made but a little on the oily side. The meat falls off with a slight prod of the fork, and the fresh greens dressed with honey mustard complements it very well.
Our meal was fabulous - this is one of the only places in Baltimore that serves skate, a favorite of mine, but they don't always have it, so check their website or call ahead if you're a fan. Service was friendly and professional. No gimmicks or pomposity here; just great food, extensive wine list, and a helpful staff.
Had a fantastic meal at Petit Louis. The food was incredible - notably the whole roasted chicken. The staff was also delightful, nice and accommodating. We had another friend join us midway, and the staff offered to reseat us to a larger and more comfortable table. Wonderful experience overall!
Wonderful experience at Petit Louis celebrating our anniversary! Starting from the moment Patrick ( and Marc) welcome you , it just continues to be spectacular. We tried the new happy hour first and the sampling of hor d'eoveres . Amazing! Everything on the menu is fabulous but we love the steak tartare. Judging by the crowd on a Monday night we are not alone in our love for this place. C'est magnifique!
