Three of us had dinner on a Monday evening. The restaurant was not too crowded so the noise level allowed pleasant conversation. Two of us split the mesclun salad which was a perfect size. For entres one had the chicken and Brussels sprouts. He enjoyed it very much. One had only the gravlax as her entre. I had the quiche which was disappointing. The egg, bacon, cheese and cream center tasted fine but the crust was tough needing to be cut with a knife! Crust should be tender and flakey. This was not! Very disappointing as I had it before and it was wonderful. We shared a pear tart for dessert and it was delicious.
The mussel appetizer was just so so. The mussels were very tender, but the sauce tasted like canned tomato soup base. The creme brûlée sugar topping was way too thick. The custard was almost warm since they had to burn the sugar for a long time.
When food is so good that you and your date keep making bedroom noises and staring at each other in wonder.
Simple, clean, classic French food. It's not cheap but 2 of us had 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 3 desserts (but no booze), a little over $100. Not for every night, but pretty solid for a late V-day dinner.
Everything was amazing. Each detail made it better - rich, decadent, not diet friendly, but worth it.
Petit Louis is one of my favorite restaurants and for the first time I had substandard food. The quiche Lorraine was overdone & tasted like it had been (gasp) microwaved.
Wonderful dinner and wonderful service. We had a wine, appetizer, entree, cheese course, dessert and dessert wine. We followed suggestions for both wine and cheese and loved what we had. Every suggestion was wonderful and we will go back for a special occasion!
I don't have much to say except that I always have a wonderful meal and a wonderful experience at Petit Louis
Overall an excellent experience when you have some extra money laying around. A bit louder and tight, but it affords you the experience of witnessing the staff carve whole chickens nearby and the like. The wine list is extensive and has something for everyone at every price point. We had an issue with part of our meal, but it was resolved very quickly and the experience was overall fantastic. Great for a special occasion.
We've never been disappointed with a meal at Petit Louie. Many French restaurants in the U.S. tend towards heavy dishes and are not authentic. Both the food and ambience at Petit Louie reminds us of past trips to France. On this trip we met friends for dinner and all of us greatly enjoyed the meal, the wine, the space and the service. It is a gem.
The food wsd delicious and the service wss amazing. My new favorite restaurant.
Valentine's Day prix fixe dinner with wine pairings. Rose Champagne aperitif was corked but I didn't discern that until I had drunk a couple of sips. Should have sent it back but didn't. Meal was wonderful. Wine pairings for the most part were good. Chateau Gloria Bordeaux was too tannic and young to drink and the dessert wine did not pair well with the Macadamia Cremeaux, but the other pairings especially the Sipp-Mack Gewurztraminer with the Terrine of Foie Gras was spot on. Wonderful and attentive service and a nice table location made for a wonderful evening.
My husband and I had Valentine’s Day dinner at Petit Louis. We have been dining here off and on for many years. What I like best about their meals is the wine pairings. The food is usually very good. But the wine pairings are so perfect that it makes it especially enjoyable. The Valentine menu was excellent. My husband loved his steak. I loved the shellfish bisque. The scallops were very good. The wines were perfect with each course. We look forward to our next visit.
A quaint favorite, and so very French. For example, the world's best French onion soup! However, what keeps us going back, in addition to the seasonally appropriate fireplace, is the service. Nowhere else is the service so, well, perfect. A meal there is like being king and queen for a day!!!
Sat in the area to the right when entering - noise level much reduced from the left side. Food as always prepared and served with class. Always a treat!
Have been here before, and it Is always very nice. It is often quite crowded, but on this Sunday evening it was busy, but not overcrowded. The noise level was not unpleasant. As usual, the staff was very helpful and attentive. And the meal was delicious. This is a wonderful place for special occasions when spending a bit extra for authentic French cuisine is worth it.
As usual a cozy and charming atmosphere with very welcoming service and classic food. Busy and noisy but we always enjoy this place!
