Peter's Clam Bar & Seafood Restaurant
Friday and Saturday 11am-10pm
He restaurant is inconsistent, at best. We ordered steamers and they had a bad seafood smell that the cook and waitress should both have noticed. I smelled them when they were delivered to another table.
My friend and I shared the crab dinner which was so so...but dry. Another friend had the red snapper special - it was shoe leather. Since no one came by to ask how our meals were we didn’t get to notify anyone. When the waitress came by after we were done eating to ask about dessert we told her the fish was not good (he had only half of one of the 2 filets) - she didn’t offer a replacement or apologize. Upsetting.
Drinks and the company were good.
The food was outstanding! My steak was prepared perfectly! Our server Jean Marie was beyond amazing! Everything was great! A fabulous restaurant we will definitely be back!
Staff was very friendly. Attentive without being annoying. Drinks were great.
Even with a reservation had to wait 30 minutes. The staff at the front was very disorganized. They asked us 3 times if we checked in. Our server was very nice but the kitchen was very slow in getting our food to us . We heard many customers around us complain about the service. There was one table of 10 people who were drunk and livery loud. One of them walked out of the restaurant with a drink which is not allowed. Normally it’s a good place. I think it needs some management changes.
This is a great place for seafood - consistently high quality. The service is friendly, efficient, and not overbearing. Prices are about what you would expect for a good seafood place. Outside waterfront dining is a great option, as long as you can face the boat docks (the old trash transfer station is not so attractive, otherwise would have given 5 stars).
Great food as always. Gets pricey fast
All was great except for the severe annoyance posed by flying insects. Outdoor patio must be screened!!
This was our first time at Peter's Clam Bar and we loved it! Food was excellent and staff was friendly and attentive. It got louder as the night went on
Although we have eaten at Peter’s in the winter months, it is an exceptional place to eat in the warmer months when you can take advantage of outdoor seating on the canal plus there’s music on the weekends.
Server Angelique I believe was her name was excellent and the only reason for these 3 stars. The host needs to be trained on how to be a “Host”. Read your reservation notes, which I specifically asked for a quieter seating area. I was sat right next to the dish pit. No excuses on it was full capacity or the other tables were 4 tops, after moving us no one sat in the 4 tops all night. Drinks came out wrong the first time, and I received bacon in my lobster grilled cheese after I specifically asked for it to be removed. Thank god I wasn’t allergic to it after taking a bit to realize it had bacon. No need for the manager to ever come by and apologize once...Not spending $97 here again!
Though the food was okay, I had to down-rate my experience because of the noise. My wife and I looked forward to sitting on the outdoor deck after a long week, and to enjoy a relaxing nice meal in open air as the sun began to lower. It should have been perfect. However, we didn't expect an overly loud live musician's never ending pounding our heads. We couldn't hear anything, including the waitress. I'm not usually opposed to music, but in this type of venue it shouldn't be at a very painfully coliseum level. Plus, when we first sat down and had ordered our drinks, we realized the restaurant's own speaker system (one just above our heads)was on and playing music on the deck at same time the musician was deafening us. Hello?!? Then finally, as we were nearly finished with the meal, the musician took a break; but instead of enjoying at least a few minutes of peace, we became aware of loud (and i mean REALLY loud) never-ending banging and clanging. There was a window just above our heads inside of which apparently was where pots and pans were being thrown around, perhaps being washed. So unenjoyable. I rarely give negative reviews, and I actually feel sorry to have give this one, but I've never experienced a more uncomfortably loud dining experience as this. Peter's outdoor deck should be a terrific place to enjoy an early summer meal. I'm disappointed that the management failed that. I will assume that dining inside might be much more pleasant, so don't judge all by my review. And, I'm sure at times, when there's not a pounding never-ending incessant overly amped music act rupturing one's brain, the outdoor deck is quite pleasant.
Went for my birthday dinner with my family, this is one of the best seafood restaurants on Long Island! I have come here ever since I was a little girl. Thank you for always being great! Highly recommended! Lobster Mac & cheese is great.
I would definitely return when the weather gets warmer to enjoy the outdoor deck seating.
We came for here for Mother’s Day and it was such a great time. The food was good as well as the service!
Great service, nice sized food portions! Worth it!
Found a nice quiet seafood restaurant with good food. Outdoor dining is right on the water with a nice view.
Always an excellent choice especially if you are outside. Terrific Red Snapper; great service and ambiance is always superb. A really good neighborhood choice.
The clam chowder not as good as last time, and baked clams nothing more than breading. I'll stick with raw bar in the future.
As usual everything was perfect! Took care of my special request due to food allergies. One of our favorite restaurants!
Great seafood. Must try the lobster mac n cheese and the lobster bisque. Very friendly staff. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants on long island.
Very good service as there were lots of wait/bus staff. Had the fried seafood platter which was ok except for the clam strips which to me were like fried shoe leather but my wife liked them. Appetizers (clams on half shell and crab cake) were excellent. Deserts were standard.
It was Excellent . The service was good. The food was outstanding and well worth the price. I will recommend Peters Clam Bar to all my friends. Very friendly staff.
Great food great service and great place
This was my husband and I first time to Peters, it was my mothers birthday but shes been there plenty of times. This was a great experience I had the lobster bisque soup which was out of this world! My husband had the lobster tacos and they were fresh and flavorful. Mom got her Cesar salad which is her favorite she said. Then I ordered asparagus lobster salad with salmon which was awesome, my husband got the Peter salad with grilled chicken and it had crab meat & shrimp and it tasted fresh, mom the BIRTHDAY girl got the shell steak which was awesome as well. Then the staff was sweet to sing happy birthday to my mom with her slice of chocolate mouse cake and our cheese cake slice. I can't thank the staff enough for being very attentive and professional, we will definitely be taking the drive again from the city to island park, so worth it! Thank you again guys
Bread wasn't fresh but everything else was excellent! Walked right in and was seated in a nice location by the water. Pleasant and efficient service.
I was expecting to have spectacular seafood and this was not the case. The jumbo shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were watery. The cocktail sauce tasted like ketchup and the horseradish was bland & boring. Crab legs delicious plus they were cracked so no need to struggle to get the meat. A+ on that score. Lobster tacos were also a bit bland. My drink was excellent.
Al always Peter’s Clam Bar and Restaurant were outstanding!
Everything was excellent.
It's part of my ritual to go back home to Long Island once a summer, hit up the beach and then head to Peters. Atmosphere is always good, although this time they put us right by the live band. Way too loud, couldn't hear each other talk but the music was pretty good. Service this time was mediocre but the food is always great and fresh. Always worth it.
Fun and welcoming..great for small and larger groups
Great Father's Day Dinner- food was great, music was awesome. All 15 of us were seated with our drink orders taken within minutes. Our waitress was so wonderful!
Celebrated Father's Day and we all enjoyed ourselves. We had a reservation, and the weather turned out to be very nice; Peter's accommodated our last-minute request for an outdoor table. The food was very good, and there were many cocktail and beer options. Our server, Veronica, was pleasant, professional, and attentive. The live band rounded out a great Father's Day gathering.
Food and drinks were good. Seated right away, waited 30 minutes for server and then another 15 for drinks. Dinner took 2.5 hrs because of long wait times throughout. Mosquitoes are bountiful outside so beware.
Love peters! My favorite seafood restaurant in New York!
The food was delicious and very fresh. The service was great.
It's better in the summer when you sit outside and listen to the music. Staff was friendly and helpful. Soup could have been hotter. Otherwise the food was good
Seafood, great. Huge portions. They charge for refills of iced tea! Very petty.
Went there recently on a slow day during a rain storm so I had the place to myself. Food was very fresh and great quality. No magic here, just straight forward seafood, cooked honestly with large portions.
Good food and generous portions. Friendly and prompt service.
Nice dining by the water to unwind.
