Another excellent meal. Wonderful scallops in particular. Will be back for the next special occasion!
Our first time there celebrating 28th Wedding Anniversary. It was a beautiful night and the building is so charming. There was a piano player in the lobby which was so beautiful and welcoming. They took our wine at the desk and also checked our wine bag (a first). Our table was in a quiet corner on a porch. Our server RJ was excellent and helpful with the menu. The food was excellent. We can't wait to go back next time we are in Cape May!!
Perfect place to celebrate or have a romantic dinner. Food was outstanding and so was the service.
We loved our porch table for 4 for out 32nd anniversary celebration! Here is to hoping we can get it on June 7 when we return! Dottie our server was awesome! The cuisine was top notch!
As usual, classy environment with world class service and food. If your going to break out one of your good wines, this is the place to do it. Best Restaurant in Cape May.
A true dining experience. Their chef is masterful and in my opinion Peter Shields is superior to Cape May iconic restaurants such as the Washington Inn and the Ebbit Room. Plates are works of art served by a very professional wait staff, enhanced by the magnificent view of the ocean. Ladies and gentlemen are dressed for the occasion, sans the backwards hats, T- shirts and flip flops which has become acceptable for some reason in other higher end places.
We ate early, 5:45, out on the front porch, away from the noise (not our thing). Our waiter was wonderful, very patient. We were warned by some friends to expect to leave a little hungry. We did not experience that. The crab salad was wonderful and just right for an appetizer. The pasta dish with Maine lobster was exquisite. It's the first time I ate pasta in a year. Wonderfully chewy. And the halibut was perfection. I have one concern which the Chef should know about, if he doesn't already. I assume it's a sou chef who prepares the vegetables upon which the halibut was laid. The little beans were so undercooked as to be inedible; the peas (which I assume came out of a bag) were dessiccated, shriveled, and tough; the carrot pieces were so tough as to be impenetrable by fork. Some serious miscalculation there as to wait time between preparation and serving. I'm sorry to criticize, but everything else was so perfect, this really stood out.
We had the 7-course tasting menu and every single dish was delicious and memorable. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and the service was spot on. And being a BYOB restaurant was a bonus.
Everything tonight was excellent! Our server, the food, it was excellent. We look forward all year to taste what the chef has to offer. This restaurant does everything right, and that is why it's the best.
Overall a very good special occasion restaurant. I had the duck breast which was outstanding my wife had soft shells which were good but not as big as expected. Appetizers and desserts were terrific and the service as always was impeccable.
Amazing, from start to finish.
Set in a beautiful old mansion. Very elegant
Surroundings, splendid service from Kristof our waiter.
We enjoyed the salmon and the rare tuna with delicious polenta. Topped it off with chocolate lava cake. Ummmm good.
Our waiter, Sean, was absolutely fabulous. The service and food were both impeccable. I wish I could give the service and food 6 stars. Would recommend PSI to anyone. Had an evening to remember.
Our favorite restaurant in Cape May! Never fails.. from the minute we walk in...we are greeted so warmly...take time to sit on the porch and enjoy some wine before our actual reservation ...which is never a problem ...dinner and service...impeccable...love Peter Shields!
We went for the Mother's Day Brunch and had a delicious meal - omelet, lobster roll, lemon bar dessert. In addition, the chef was most accommodating with our request for a first course substitute.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating for my baby. Great food as well!
Exceptional service and consistently superb food. The best restaurant in Cape May. BYOB
Always excellent food and service. They will accommodate any request if it’s in the kitchen. By far the best restaurant in not only Cape May but in South Jersey!
The service was impeccable and the food was delicious
We celebrated my husband's 62nd birthday on May 11th . Everything was FABULOUS ! We had a great time. We both ordered a 4 course prefixed menu which was so DELICIOUS. We started with a chopped smoked salmon pre-appetizer that was very tasty. First course was a creamy mushroom soup, second seared scallops, main entree fillet mignon with vegetables and potato gnocchi, and an incredible yummy dessert which was a crisp waffle and ice cream with caramel and chocolate syrup and toasted walnuts. Our entire meal was cooked perfectly. I am still dreaming about it. Our favorite waiter, Chris, helped to make the night perfect. Thank you to all of the staff who made this a very memorable occasion for the both of us. We look forward to dining here again.
The chefs 4 course tasting menu was wonderful. Everything was cooked to perfection. One of the best meals we’ve experienced.
Transcendent. Divine. Over the top. Genius cuisine.
Never a bad meal at PSI - going there for 25 years. Another wonderful dinner Monday night - our favorite and recommended waiter Chris suggested the American Wagyu flat Iron steak which was outstanding, as well as his suggestion of the new home made orecchiette pasta dish. Some new items are on the menu, with home made pasta for the first time. New Cinnamon waffle on dessert menu, but I never can pass on my chocolate lava cake, so went with that as usual. Always great.
We made reservations through a friends recommendation, expectations we totally exceeded-waiter RJ was awesome!! Food and experience was the BEST!! Will definitely return when in the area.
We had the perfect evening dining for our 40th wedding anniversary... nice relaxing dinner and enjoyable chats with the staff, including our wonderful waitress Dorothy! We cook a lot ourselves, and all 4 courses were just amazing, in quality, quantity, temperature and flavor... something that we really appreciate!
All great as usual
Best restaurant in Cape May
Everything was wonderful!!! Will go back again soon.
Without a doubt, the best fine dinning in Cape May. I’m a local and have tried them all. Yes there are other good restaurants but whenever we have a special occasion or a “child free” date night we choose Peter Shields and have never been let down. And it’s BYOB which is great. This latest night was our anniversary and my wife started off with the chefs special appetizer of lump crab and smoked salmon while I had the Orecchiette. For dinner my wife had the Crispy Long Island Duck, I had the Snake River Farms Wagyu Flat Iron. We finished with their homemade ice cream on cinnamon Belgium waffles. Dorothy was our server and her recommendations were spot on and service was outstanding compared to other Cape May restaurants. Our wine was always topped off, our water was always filled, dirty plates were taking away promptly and Dorothy along with other staff were extremely polite, professional and readily available. Top notch service, food and atmosphere is what you’ll get at Peter Shields.
The food was amazing, and the service impeccable. The asparagus and crab salad was divine. My only complaint was how close the tables are, leading to most of our conversation being drowned out by a chatty fellow diner.
I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Peter Shields! I made reservations for 6. Upon arriving, one of my guests tried to be quick and ask the check be handed to him at the end. I explained my partner and I just got married and it was OUR treat for the support of our friends. Since we were 2 women getting married I was unsure what, if any, their response would be. Well, next thing I knew we were all served complimentary champagne for a toast! I usually don’t get emotional, however, I was touched and greatly appreciative!
Definitely worth going to.
Prie fixe menu 5:30-6:00 which draws a nice crowd. We ordered off ala cartel menu and our meal was fantastic.
Terrific anniversary dinner. Great table. Great service. Terrific food. Perfect. I highly recommend.
Food was very good-ambiance was excellent. It was over priced by about 25%. Overall very good!
As always, excellent in every area. Victorian style house. In the summer we sit on the porch before dinner with a glass of wine enjoy the view. A little more upscale
Always outstanding, best in Cape May.
The BEST restaurant in South Jersey. Consistent kitchen that uses great ingredients in preparations that allow the ingredients to shine served by friendly, professional staff in a beautiful old building. Always a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.
Incredible gluten free dining experience! Our server, Sean was very knowledgeable about gluten free . From the moment we entered restaurant every person we encountered was warm, friendly and professional. This was our second visit and have already made reservations to come back again!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at
our table in a quiet corner of the dining room to superb food, beautifully presented and an excellent waiter, Sean. It was a special way to celebrate our birthdays.
A superior dining experience of culinary expertise. One of our favorite locations for a special night in Cape May.
The hostess and the waiter were very friendly and helpful. The food is as delicious, and the restaurant was really attractive. I would go there again if I return to Cape May.
