This restaurant never disappoints. The food is outstanding as is the service, and the setting is lovely.
Amazing dinner at PSI. A must visit when in Cape May.
This restaurant is absolutely fabulous down to the very last minute detail. Absolutely incredible food; absolutely stunning structure and décor; gwonderful service; and, great piano player to grace your meal and experience. Certainly the best in Cape May and maybe even best on Jersey Shore. And, its a BYO !
Best in Cape May! Always a great experience!
The food is excellent, beautiful view, pianist is great, service is excellent!
You pay for what you get! Although the prices for food are higher than other restaurants in the area, it was well worth it. This is fine dining at its best. Our waiter, Ben, made sure that we were taken care of and was very friendly. Just remember that it is BYOB.
Top notch food and service. The best meal on our visit to Cape May.
Fabulous all around! PSI is beautiful - attentive staff, fabulous food! Truly 5 Star dining and service. Can’t wait to come back.
Amazing. Oysters were out of this world. Every bite of the tuna tartare and scallops made me grin. Thank you.
And also, the piano player? Incredible. He’s intermingling show tune classics and Frank with the Pixies and Radiohead...whaaa? We are staying at the inn for the week and every night I am lulled to sleep by his incredible talent!
The best American seafood fare restaurant that I’ve been to in the US!
Pete Shields never disappoints. Been here many times and always walk away raving about the excellent food and service. Our table is always ready when we arrive, food is always outstanding, and the service is what you would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. Last night I had the pork chop and it was delicious. The best fine dining restaurant at the Jersey Shore.
Entrees were excellent. Appetizers could have been better.
We are beyond happy with our experience at PSI. The food was amazing, the service spectacular and the views are beautiful. They took very good care of us as we celebrated a 50th birthday. Highly recommend.
Friendly staff, great service, delicious food, prefect size portions, reasonable prices,
By far our favorite restaurant in the world. The food and service were superb as always.
Always a great place to visit when in Cape May. Very accommodating to those with food allergies or Celiac. Highly recommended
Good food as always. Noisy party next to us which made it difficult to hold a conversation.
Peter Shields Inn is an amazing restaurant. I have eaten here several times and it never disappoints. My wife and I both had a poached halibut entree and it was the best meal I have had all year. I can’t say enough good things about the quality of their food and the creativity of the menu.
Remember its a BYOB... I didn't! However they have a nice local wine list should you forget. It's a perfect Cape May restaurant... Great food, service and history. Definitely make it a part of your your jersey shore eating experience
Every year on our anniversary my wife and I go to Cape May. Peter Shields is on our must do list every single time.
Always a wonderful dining experience! The food, service, and atmosphere is delightful and I look forward to my next visit!
been here a few times, go once a year or so never in a hurry to return , our waiter was nice , but didn't check on us enough, our apps were small in portion , my wife had the ' foie gras ' the the chef and restaurant should be ashamed to serve such a small portion! plus it was over cooked and burnt ! my app was just as small and not worth the price, our dinners were ok to good, but being a high end restaurant the chef has to know how to cook the foie gras it ruined the dinner , set the mood for the rest of the night, we don't believe in sending plates back which is our fault , what we wanted to do is walk in the kitchen and make the chef eat it, missed the mark and missed having us come back again .
The food and service were great. RJay was our waiter and was prompt with service and well versed on the menu. Thanks RJay. The prices are a little steep, but if you can afford a night out in Cape May I would recommend Peter Shields without a doubt. Also the piano player the night we were there was great. He even played Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.
We were told there were only late reservations available and walking into the restaurant we saw many tables available. Service was poor despite the fact that they were not crowded. Plates were left in front of us never collected, the server never came back to pour the wine and refill our water glasses, bread and butter. The food took a very long time to come out and the plating was not pleasing to the eye. Some of the plates we received came out cold. We spent a lot of money for the meal and we left dissatisfied and hungry.
Ok, nice building, old seaside mansion, everyone very nice, you check your wine like a coat, wait to be called to table on front porch with view of ocean, they'll open your wine to enjoy if you want.
Seating inside varies from a side porch, front screened porch or interior parlor rooms. We sat in side porch, nice but parlor rooms have nicer ambiance.
We were a party of three seated at two tops pushed together, would have preferred a single tablecloth to give better appearance. The fourth place setting was removed but not the chair.
Rolls warm and delicious was served family style (2 white 2 dark for three of us) rock, paper, scissor for the last one..mom won.
Funny, the only way to receive an Amuse Bouche ( a gift from the chef, highlighting his talent) was to buy a price fix four course or seven course offering. I thought it odd and feel it makes restaurant touted as a star seem petty.
The food was spot on and delicious. Each dish ordered was enjoyed. Service was warm and friendly, wines were keep in ice buckets for whites and on the table for reds were mostly administered by the wait staff. I do appreciate not having to pour my own wines and would have been nice to have them bought to the table as needed.
Table busing needs improvement, as you know I detest stacking plates and utensils at the table, makes me feel like I'm at a diner. At least they didn't come with a big plastic bucket.
All in all a very pleasant night, good company, great food.
While overpriced for what it is, PSI serves better food than most restaurants in this area. Maybe you’re paying for the location across from the beach? (Though, there’s not much of a beach view.) The appetizers were meh, but the cod and the duck we ordered for our mains were delicious.
A very fine dining experience in Cape May. Reservation confirmed to BYOB ... upon arrival friendly greeting brought our wine to table to chill. Bread basket was excellent. Grilled octopus special to start as well as the buratta appertizer we were off to a great first course. Main course of halibut and scallops were mouth watering. Dessert was delicious as well as the cappucino.Service was exceptional. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end.
Great place, food was fantastic. Our waiter Dylan did a great job. All the staff did a fabulous job. The Ambiance was wonderful
Lovely restaurant. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious a little pricey. Ambiance was great a piano player while you eat dinner. Highly recommend if you are a vacation.
The 7 course chef tasting was unbelievable! A must try!
Fine dining at its best. Portions were perfect as you did not leave stuffed but satisfied.
Prices are ridiculously high for what it is, and the service is too slow.
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. Probably the best restaurant at the Jersey shore!
The piano player was terrific! And the service was prompt and courteous. Meal was delicious!
Amazing food and can’t beat the early bird price. My husband had the pork chop over mushrooms risotto, big portion and very good. I enjoyed the Bronzino which was crispy and delicious. The chocolate panda cotta was incredible. This is the best place to eat in Cape May!!
Delish food, attentive waitstaff, pricey but worth it
After 20 years of eating there 2-3 times each summer, we never tire of this wonderful, gourmet and unpretentious gem in Cape May. It has been consistent and delicious with fresh local ingredients. Try the oysters on the half shell. Unsurpassed anywhere in the tri-state area. All of the seafood is wonderful. Last night, though, I ordered meat for a change, and the pork chop melted in my mouth.
We ate down Cape May on vacation and always go there. Wonderful food, great service and a beautiful place.
Great ambience and menu offerings. Excellent service! Loved the corn soup, crab appetizer and halibut! Truly a lovely dining experience. Pricey but worth it!
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and upgrade to the decor of this restaurant . We had not been here in many years to past disappointment with both . We will come again for a special occasion. The prices are high but the food and service are excellent. Parking is easy and the front porch is beautiful.
Place was everything reviews said it would be. Welcoming staff. Waiter was both helpful with choices and jovial. Dishes were excellent. Cooked exactly to specifications and presentation was very good. Most important of all the taste was sublime. Would love for there to have been a steak for one option but the pork chop was a wonderful alternative. Excellent overall dining experience and is one that I would receommend everyone that is making Cape May a destination take one night and dine here.
