As always, our dinner was delicious. RJ was our server and he was great. The pasta appetizer, short rib entree and toffee pudding was all to die for. I highly recommend The Peter Shields Inn!
We asked for quiet table. Unfortunately 4some next to us was very loud. Tough for restaurant to control I guess. We were in a corner and our table was inaccessible when occupants on either side of us were all seated. Guest to the one side of us had to stand for either one of us to depart. Awkward. Difficult for servers and clearers. Tables too close. We've been there many times and will be back.
Food was excellent.service was very friendly and professional.
Exceptional service ~ phenomenal menu with multiple dishes that interested us in all categories ~ appetizer, pasta, main course & dessert.
Classy place to have meal and celebrate and event such as an anniversary , birthday. The food is always exceptional although expensive (pay for what you get). It was my wife's Birthday so we all went including our twin 4 year old Girls. The enjoyed the experience and the food! Looking forward to returning without the Girls!
Peter Shields never disappoints. Our dinner was prepared perfectly right down to the dessert!
Extremely disappointed. Food was average at best, unfriendly staff, will not return.
It would have been impossible to improve our experience. The environment in this elegant old home directly across from the ocean is magnificent but welcoming. The menu is interesting and diverse and each dish was outstanding. The service we received was impeccable. The meal was expensive but considering how superior every part of it was I can’t wait to go back.
The wait staff made us feel important from the start to finish. The 4-course tasting was to die for, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did add the tuna tartare and it was lovely.
Peter Shields is our favorite restaurant in Cape May. The food is fabulous and the seating is not too crowded or noisy. My husband has hearing aides so noise is an issue. I love the piano music by Mr Gunther. And it is a byob which is an added bonus. The setting is beautiful also. It’s our go to place for celebrations also. Can’t say enough nice things about it!
As always, PSI delivered. It was Restaurant Week and the options were diverse, and the same quality as non-promotional dining experiences. The service was exceptional. Our waiter, Petar, has served us previously. He is professional, attentive, knowledgeable and consistently friendly. The noise level was louder than it has been in the past - but we could attribute it to 2 specific tables, so it was not an issue with the room. We drive 40 minutes to dine at PSI - and look forward to the next time we make that ride.
The Peter Shields Inn, one of my life's little gems...
Usually, we can expect good food and service at PSI but one the last visit there was a bit of kismet. We both ordered the pork belly. I was wavering on this but the next table highly recommended it. It was delicious, the Asian flavors melded perfectly -- quite different from servings of pork belly elsewhere. One of us ordered the pork tenderloin -- delicious -- and I ordered the short ribs. The ribs were delicious but too heavy when paired with the pork belly for me (the other table recommended them though). When I ordered dessert, I ordered the bread pudding. What I was served was the apple-cranberry tart.-- perfect. The bread pudding would have been too, too much after the short ribs.
And they serve cappuccinos better than some coffee shops.
Peter Shields always serves outstanding food. We opted for the three course meal from the restaurant week menu so it was also a great value. The service was exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
A fabulous dining experience at Peter Shields Inn. Attentive service and wonderful cuisine!
overall was great. great service. everything went great.
Excellent service and outstanding food. Restaurant week is awesome. Thank you. We will be back.
Everything was excellent as usual.
However service was not quite what we are use to.
Server may have had a off night.
Very small portions, could be appetizers. The ambience was nice, however you really couldn’t see the piano player when you’re dining.
This was our first time and definitely will not be our last. We loved it!
Unfortunately i made this reservation for my friends 60th birthday but i had to go away for work and could not make it! All five of them couldn’t stop raving about the food, the waiters, and the atmosphere! Five stars everyone of them said! So i can not wait to try Peter Shields ❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful atmosphere, amazing service and food is always wonderful!
I was dinned at PSI on 11/2/2019 during Cape May restaurant week. The appetizer Duo of Tartare looked like an ART, fresh and tasty; the Pan Roasted Scottish Salmon was creamy and was one of my best Salmon tasting experiences. The desert was good, I rank the appetizer and main entry 4.5 stars and desert 3.5 star.
The stuff was very friendly, very beautiful architecture, looked like very new. Great dining experience overall.
Excellent meal. Beautiful presentation.
Service very attentive.
Food was great, beautiful ambiance, loved the piano player, server was so friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Wonderful experience.
Wonderful service and great food made for a memorable evening!
As always, just a fantastic dining experience. Have been in 8-10 times, and have yet to be disappointed. Service is great, food spectacular!
Our server Dylan was excellent. Enjoyed the short ribs and OMG melt in your mouth! Kudos to the Chef. Wonderful ambiance and really appreciated the timing of our courses as to fully enjoy each and every one
Wonderful restaurant week menu.
Food here is prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. Professionals in the kitchen know what they are doing. Food is seasoned to perfection. Salt and Pepper should not even be on the table. Chris our server was very attentive without being invasive. Unused utensils are removed and cleared throughout service. Highly recommend
We ate at Peter Shields on the Thursday of 'restaurant weekend' in Cape May. The 3-course prix-fixe dinner was excellent; the service was friendly and well-paced; and value was outstanding for the high quality of food served. Everything was delicious! We both chose the maple-glazed pork belly as an appetizer, which was served with sesame-flavored slaw and ginger-soy sauce - unusual, really flavorful, perfect. The short-ribs to follow were the best we've ever eaten, and the mushroom risotto accompaniment was outstanding. Desserts are also first class.
I'd like to be able to give this restaurant 6-stars, given the number of 5-star reviews I see for inferior/inconsistent restaurants in Cape May. Peter Shields is the best in Cape May in our opinion - if you get the chance to sample their prix-fixe menu, it's certainly worth going!
The service was great.
The food was the best I've have in a long time
Everyone was professional and polite.
This was the first time that we had dinner at Peter Shields. Overall, it was an outstanding experience beginning with the service. The food was gourmet all the way! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Always a delightful experience!
Have been to Peter Shields many times. Was good but not really up to their usual standard.
My husband's steak was very salty, and my fish was actually a little under seasoned. As always it's a lovely spot for an evening, very comfortable and very professional staff.
Absolutely wonderful. I can't count the number of times we have dined at Peter Shields over two decades. Or how many 5 star reviews I have written, all well deserved.
My message is consistency, excellence is not hit or miss, it is achieved by dedication to the total dinning experience. The menu is always fresh, changing with the seasons, the service is always top notch, the atmosphere romantic. Special occasion, or a cold rainy autumn night, you will not only have a great meal but a great time.
We were on the last stop in our trip in Cape May and decided to go to PSI the night before we headed home. As usual it was excellent. Biggest problem was figuring out what to order - my wife and I agreed that there were so many appealing courses that we had to choose from.
Went Sunday for my birthday for a 5:00 seating and we sat on the side porch.
Our waiter was Shawn and he was very attentive and we enjoyed his conversations. I had the wild mushroom risotto and it was excellent and my husband had the pork tenderloin and it was also very good.
We love the ambiance of Peter Shields and their Fall decor was just beautiful.
Excellent all the way around
