The Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant features a seasonally driven menu bursting with creativity. A favorite of Cape May locals and visitors alike, PSI offers a la carte dining along with a variety of seasonal tasting menus throughout the year. The magnificent ocean views offer the perfect setting to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a memorable dining experience in beautiful Cape May. During the summer months outdoor dining is available on the front porch overlooking the ocean, and several fireplaces keep the restaurant feeling cozy throughout the winter. Live piano music can be enjoyed at the restaurant all year long. PSI also specializes in hosting elegant ocean front weddings throughout the year, making this the perfect location for special celebrations. The dress code at PSI is Business Casual. PSI is no longer a BYOB as of 1/1/25, we offer a full spirits, wine and beer list. There is a $40 corkage fee for guests that would like to bring in a personal bottle.

                                              Great experience, great food, great service. The music wasnt too loud and it was nice to put in some requests for my wifes birthday. We will definitely go back.

                                              Our 32nd time there! We have dinner at The Peter Shields Inn every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary! What a beautiful experience we had last night! From the grand Inn, so very well maintained, to the cozy porch area, where we were seated for our meal, to our impeccable server Dillon, to the sweet, soft music by the very talented pianist, to of course, the main attraction, the incredibly delicious cuisine! My husband had the special, a 32 oz Kansas City Sirloin topped with crabmeat! It was incredible! Dillon even took a pause and admired the dish as he placed it on the table! People were starring at it's beauty! Needless to say, he enjoyed and savored every bite. I had the Prime NY Strip, with potato puree, baby carrots, chimichurri. It was absolutely delicious! We ended our meal with the classic creme brulee with rasberries and shortbread cookie crisps, such a nice touch! Dekicious! From start to finish, always a truly special meal! It was also so nice to receive a call on the day of our reservation, reminding us that PSI is no longer a byob and has a full service bar! They spent the winter renovating the bar area, and it looks amazing! A true transformation! You have to see it! One of the little things we loved when we first started going there was the bowl of James' mints at the table on the way out and guess what...they still have them!!!

                                              The Peter Shields Inn never disappoints. We have been dining there for years. The food is always of the best quality and delicious. There is always imaginative dishes to pick from. The service is impeccable and there is not a bad seat in the restaurant.

                                              I’m sure there are good days and some not so good- this was the latter. After serving fresh oysters without a presentation of their source my second course of lobster bisque was served 10-12 minutes before our other guests received the crab cake appetizer. Both were fair to okay with some spices and flavors. My entree of duck l’orange was barely warm and overpowered by a large leek in the middle while the other guests were offered strip steaks that they felt were heavily marbled and not too their preference ( some pink when it was specifically asked for very well done). We will not return anytime soon even if it was just an off night which can happen anywhere.

                                              For the price you pay the NY Strip was below par. While it was cooked to my liking (medium rare) it was so tough and had so much gristle that it was difficult to chew. Now I know why it was served already sliced. I was very disappointed in my entree but the lobster bisque and the wait staff were excellent.
