Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak in Wheeling takes you back to the jazz age, with live entertainment on a regular basis. Come to the restaurant for a quick bite or a luxurious meal, and enjoy prime steaks, chops, chicken or fresh seafood. Starters at Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak include Maryland crab cake, firecracker shrimp, truffle beef carpaccio, oysters Rockefeller and more. You might also begin your meal with lobster bisque or a refreshing salad.
If you're craving steak, you'll find plenty on offer at Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak. Try the petite 7-oz. filet, or go all out with the 32-oz. wagyu tomahawk. Of course, there are other steaks in between, so there's something for every appetite. Seafood offerings include sesame crusted tuna, Alaskan king crab legs, brown buttered scallops and more.
It was only mediocre. If you are not picky about your food, this is the place for you.
Pete Miller's in Wheeling is a fairly regular stop for many in my dining party and it has yet to let us down at every level. Quality to price ratio, quality of food, bar service, waitstaff service...it's always been a superb experience.
The overall experience was fine. We celebrated a birthday for my son and he wanted to split a wagyu steak with his brother. When you order a $129 steak (granted it was on sale for $79) you expect a melt in your mouth piece of meat and the experience hard to forget. Unfortunately, the steak was still mooing (even though we ordered medium) in the middle and we had to ask the waiter to get it cooked more. By the time we received the steak the second time, it was charred at the ends and lost the expectations we had. Other than that, side dishes and apps were very good. I ordered a halibut fish, but I should've known better than to order fish at a steak house. Not sure if we will be back.
We went here Saturday because the storm forced us to stay in the burbs. Overall a nice dinner. The prime rib special is very good. Nice cut of meat and better than the prime rib at other places. My wife always has the scallops which were good. Service is solid but a but sloppy. They dropped a dish when serving. Dessert was very good and the wine prices are fair. It would be nice if there was a bit more buzz but overall a nice dinner.
server was incompetent, we were a party of 8 and 3 of the meals were incorrect and had to be sent back and one still came back incorrect (how hard is it for the chef to put bacon around a steak?). have been a patron for many years and decided to take my staff for a special occasion but never again.
Everything we were looking for: ambience, food, service, all first rate and a highly enjoyable experience.
I always enjoy my food experience at Pete Miller's. The steaks are beautifully cooked and presented. My only complaint was the live jazz music was overly amplified on my date to the point that conversation was impacted.
food was not the great- :( maybe I had too high expectation for such a high priced menu.
Had a great anniversary dinner at Pete Miller's. It was a Monday night so it was very quiet and romantic. The calamari was awesome. We shared a shrimp cocktail. It was the only part of the meal that was not awesome. The shrimp was overcooked but the sauce was excellent. We both had the Lobster Bisque and the Sirloin. Both were great. It was my third time in this restaurant and I will definitely be back.
Haven't been there for 5 years as last time the food was terrible but thought we would give it another try. Food was average at best, server seemed inexperience, abviance was tired looking. We went to sit on there patio and the furniture is so beat up, the big fireplace looks like it is falling apart and needs major tuck pointing the hostess was a young girl that was never trained and my husband's pork chop was over cooked. The couple next to us sent all there food back. I won't give it another try, done with Pete Miller's in Wheeling. For the prices they charge, they should buy new rattan furniture for outside. It was disgusting.
It was my husband's birthday; it was nice out and still light so we sat outside (the dining area inside is very dark). It's a nice setup but is super noisy from the Milwaukee ave traffic. I ordered the crab leg cocktail which must have been hurriedly thawed because there were ice crystals and it was watery. They're known for steaks so I had the 3 filets ordered medium. The server brought them out and suggested we check for doneness ( thought that was nice) mine was way too rare. So I asked it be cooked another couple of minutes; about 10 minutes later it came back totally well done. I took a couple of bites but it was awful. The sides were good and I ate them and declined having a new order made. The manager came over and very nicely took it off the bill but I would have preferred to have had them cooked properly and enjoyed. Also, the 3 crusts were mushy and indistinguishable. My husband's steak was ordered cmediumnrare and was fine.
Hadn't been here in quite awhile. Friday, 7/8/16. Arrived at about 5:45 to partake in their "Happy Hour" drink specials. Those were good. Had dinner reservations for 6:30. Went to celebrate my wife birthday. Opted to sit outside. Only us and another couple there. The patio sits right along Milwaukee Ave. There is quire a bit of traffic noise. Got too windy to stay outside, went inside. The vibe was weird. Hardly anyone in there as well. I realize it is still fairly early, but still. Ordered the calamari. Not good. No tentacles. Lousy taste and texture. Based on the calamari dish and seeing what they were charging for their entrees, didn't want to chance it and we decided to not have dinner after all. Went to Bob Chinns down the street for an outstanding meal.
They must keep track of special requests because the waiter knew I liked anchovy stuffed olives and let me know that fact prior to ordering a drink.
The patio is lovely! We were in the mood for tacos and they were better than many Mexican restaurants. Live music is hard to find and theirs is fabulous.
Very Good experience. The food was good and the ambience was great.
Our small group of professional women get together quarterly to celebrate birthdays, friendship, and to talk shop. Pete's patio is our favorite location for our summertime "meeting." The patio is quiet, relaxing, and the service does not miss a beat just because you are outside. I tried a new entre - halibut with lobster broth spiced wih siracha and sliced avocado on top - and loved every bite. The wine list is also good.
We went to this restaurant for our 23 wedding anniversary. Great food, nice soft music in the background and good service. We sat outside on the patio and it was a perfect night. Waitress was attentitive but not overbearing. A little pricy but worth it.
Pete's in Wheeling has a great outdoor patio area and good happy hour drink/food deals. The pianist playing jazz inside was very good - too bad she had such a slim audience.
I was a bit disappointed in the "chopped salad" as it was not really "chopped" but simply had the ingredients of a "chopped salad".
Fantastic service and live music. A little slow on food delivery but the service more than made up for it!
We have been to Pete Millers several times, the food and service is always very good. They also consistently offer great entertainment and this night was no different. We always enjoy ourselves and will return.
Nice experience. Great outdoor patio service
Steak cooked to our specifications, unobtrusive servers, and a jazz piano made for a special anniversary dinner date. Thank you!
Service was outstanding. Great place to eat at 5:30
We had two children in our party of 12. It took over an hour & a half to get our food
The food was old school, but very good. The environment was relaxing and welcoming. It's a pricier option, but worth every penny.
Outstanding meal and service. Background music(piano and singer) made conversation difficult at times.
Had the NY strip. Excellent steak done perfectly medium rare. My wife had seafood that she thoughts was very good. Never had a bad meal here. Would recommend.
Fabulous. Food and services
We went there for my boyfriend's birthday. I'm a foodie with high expectations. I didn't find one thing wrong with anything - whether the restaurant, ambiance, music, waiter or food. It was perfect from start to finish. We will go back again for my birthday in two months.
Singer was delightful. Too much rosemary on the mushrooms. Service was great until we needed the check, then the waiter was MIA
Excellent as always
On a Wednesday night the place was almost empty. About four tables in a big dining area. The piano music was early 40's and 50's. Not very good. The food was not exceptional but good.
It was a special occasion which was not very special. We expected better live music. Maybe some jazz or blues or even rock would have been better.
Miller's helped make for a great Easter. Music was right on. Food head the spot. Oyster, lamb and shrimp were great. Crab legs were good if not a bit over cooked. Server did a great job despite returning from a late night shift. Our favorite brunch. Looking forward to Mother's Day.
When my dad was in town we needed a place to have a family dinner. Pete Miller's had a great menu andour server, Jennifer worked really hard to make sure we had an excellent dining experience. I will definitely go back.
Awesome they were wonderful to is and our 9 year old!
Good atmosphere, nice people, food is very average and pricey. I bought a kansas steak it was average, new york steak is impossible to chew, we returned it. Banana desert is nice, cheesecake is bad.
The young man at the host station said nothing to me when I walked in. I stood there looking around when he started to say hello then a waitress walked up and he turned to her. I was the only customer at the host station and thought taking care of a customer would come first. I met a friend at the bar. The bartender Dave greeted us and took our order. He was personable. When asked about his favorite dishes he spoke confidently and went on to share the specials for the night. After seated in the dining room, we waited a long time for our waitress despite the place being less than full. She wanted to take our drink order then said you probably want to chat and went to leave. I had to ask about the specials before she left. Our entrees were great! We had to ask 3 different people and wait 15 minutes for more bread. Our waitress was slow to return to the table and ask about our meal. Not acceptable as the dining room was not packed by any means. Bad host, bad waitress, good bartender, good meal.
This was one of our favorite restaurants until last Saturday evening. We have gone there many times for their great prime rib. When I said to the server, "I hope you have some prime rib left." since they often ran out of it, she said, " We don't have it tonight." I was surprised to see it is no longer on the menu at all. It was a speciality there for years. We began going there and have been enjoying it for several years since Don Roth's Blackhawk Restaurant closed a few years ago. The Blackhawk was just a short distance down Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling from Pete Miller's and had the best prime rib ever. I have noticed Miller's has not been as busy as it used to be. If they are trying to cut costs by discontinuing serving prime rib, it is too bad because we will not return any time soon. I did order a very delicious steak and my friend had fish that he enjoyed. Entrees are served with only one side and no salad. There are lots of extras available at an upcharge. I guess all good things end too soon.
Went there to celebrate my birthday with my wife. Arrived and it was extremely cold (less than 65 degrees by my estimate). Waitress agreed with me and said others she was serving had said the same. Spoke with the manager who said we could sit at the bar where it was warmer (not what we wanted and was not warmer in any event). We left, had dinner elsewhere and will not be going back. Have been there periodically in the past as well as the Evanston location. Always was good in the past. Surprised that it seems to have gone down hill.
I really like the ambiance at Pete's. To me, it has a very warm feeling to it. Subtle light and very tasteful. Steaks were good and Fire Cracker Shrimp appetizer was awesome. The steamed asparagus was uninspiring though, I would much rather have it grilled or baked.
