Both the food and service were atrocious. Our server was inattentive brought the wrong side dish and said “oh well” and disappeared for the night. Never asked if we were enjoying the food. The food was cold overcooked and tasteless. For the prices they charge they should be ashamed of what they serve. Don’t waste you money on this restaurant.

We thought we'd stop in for a burger at the bar to find there is a new menu. We love lamb, so I ordered it and it was too saulty. You need to ask for none marinated !!!

The place is nice. the staff is OK, but do not seem that friendly. Went on a wednesdy night, place not crowded and we waited a lot to get attended.
The food, is fine, just too pricey for what it is.
the appetizer was good, tiny lamb chops, well cooked and with flavor. (was the best of our meal).
We had the duo filet which was the best of our 2 entrees. while the portion is ok, and goes well with price. however, the bearnaise was way too salty, but the mash potatoes, were very good.
The aged NY angus , was the other entree, and , it did not have too much flavor for an aged steak, probably could do the same at home, so no big deal for that entree. I ordered
it with broccoli, which had (really)nothing to it.
Had a great bottle of wine (st Francis Merlot from Sonoma), at a correct price, and was difficult to get as it was the last bottle, the oenologue wasn't that of a help.
The girls playing the live music were very good and jazzy, loud enough for a normal conversation and well array of music, thanks girls.
Will not come back to eat, as I can cook more or less the same things at home.
I could come back for the wine and the music.

Ambiance and service are great at Pete Miller's. Our waiter was great. However he recommended the Dry-Aged Bone-In Kansas City Strip ($48.00). I ordered it medium, as I do with just about any steak. I have to say it was tough and a bit more on the fatty side than I anticipated. It was "OK" and maybe it (or I) were just "off" that day. The rest of our group enjoyed their meals, so it just may have been me or my steak that night ... and maybe I should have said something. However I would go back again ... and just order something else instead.

Chose Pete Miller’s because we won a gift card in a contest. Made reservations (highly recommended on Sat. night) so no waiting. Seated at a nice corner table near the live jazz so it was difficult to have much of a conversation, but the music was really great. I loved the decor. Very classy yet still comfortable and not “stuffy” at all.

Our server was very personable and took our wine order quickly. After we got the bottle of wine, she asked if we’d like to enjoy it for a bit before we ordered dinner. If we had known our “okay, good idea” response would lead to a 45 minute period of being completely ignored by our server, we would have ordered right away. Despite this, the entire staff was polite, professional, and accommodating.

The house salads were fine but the real stars of the meal were the filets. Both (7 oz. and 10 oz.) ordered medium were cooked perfectly. If you are looking for a real steakhouse where the chef understands beef and how to prepare it, this is the place! Too full for dessert but we would definitely return on another visit to Evanston.

Overall, great atmosphere with the live jazz, good wine list, excellent steaks, and average service added up to a wonderful evening.

Food was very good. Waiter was not. He spent too much time with the party of 2 that sat in the corner booth. They seemed to be returning customers, had a reserved card on table.
Ordered crab legs. It came with 3, only 1 was split the other 2 needed to be cracked open. We were not given a tool to crack open the crab legs therefore we had to struggle with the fork. Needless to say our hands were coated with crab etc. When I asked the waiter ( when he finally came around to our table) for a hot towel to clean my hands, mg husband mentioned the reason I was asking and the waiter responded with a laugh. Hmmmm..... I must of missed the humor. The hot towel was brought but it was not hot nor was it wet enough to clean our hands. The waiter clearly was not attentive to us at all.
Will this prevent us from returning? No. The fish was fresh, we enjoyed the food. We will just make sure we have a different server.

Food was fantastic, wine was superb, atmosphere was very comfortable but upscale.
Most of our table had filets - which were exactly what you'd expect in this price range.
Bread was fresh and flavorful. Firecracker shrimp is a must. Very helpful wine staff who were right on target with their suggestions. Service was superb. Highly recommend for a nice steak or seafood dinner. Only negative was the music was a little bit loud for our table to hear each other when talking. But was such a nice addition to the atmosphere that you hate to complain about that.

Staff was super amazing, they were very attentive and super nice. The bar staff was great, all the people we came in contact with were super. The service was top notch, manager was very nice and took great care of us. I just didn't think the food lived up to the level of the service. I had the shrimp risotto and it was more like over cooked shrimp over rice, not a risotto as the menu stated. One of our party had a steak and said it was very very good. Someone else had the chicken and said it was cold and bland. Drinks were very high, 15 buck per martini and they were just ok, no frosted glass and they were not even full to the top for 15 bucks. Oh and the lady playing piano and singing was very good and we enjoyed her very much. So great service, nice staff, good manager, food was expensive and somewhat below average.

We have visited Pete Miller's (Evanston and Wheeling) quite often over the past several years. To our disappointment, the overall quality goes down with each visit. About 2 years ago we stopped visiting the Wheeling location. After last Saturday, we have crossed the Evanston location off our list as well. The menu is lackluster, the firecracker shrimp (everyone's favorite) is mediocre (and they no longer serve the coleslaw which was the perfect foil for the shrimp), and the service was so so (brought us the wrong bill). The music was still good, but not good enough to make up for the rest. Too bad!

7 mid-50's showed up for a reunion dinner. All of us are regular steak house customers. 6 steaks ordered; 3 of the 6 were substantially over-cooked (grey when supposed to be pink and juices running for "medium"). The sides didn't come out at the same time as the steak. The server was good about taking the cost of 2 steaks off the bill, but that didn't help much. We weren't trying to save money, but to have a 6 properly cooked steaks. All agreed it is not the place we'd go to again.

Nice, pleasant atmosphere - almost "dinner club" like - with very good food, and excellent service. Live piano music that was at pleasant volumes made for a nice touch to the evening, allowing for easy conversation while listening. We started with the staff-recommended Beef Carpaccio, followed by Tuna Medallions and Sesame Tuna; all complimented with a VanDuzer Rose'. Fabulous!

We've always enjoyed meeting our friends at Pete Millers for a great meal...tonight we smelled mildew in the restaurant and we find their piano player singer has a good voice, but disrupts the dinner conversation making it an annoyance. I think the entertainment would be better after 8 or 8:30 so patrons can talk with each other!

Ambitious steakhouse that does not meet its own ambitions. 50s-style (a la Bill Murray SNL) pianist was loud and disruptive. Truffle carpaccio would have benefited from omitting truffle oil or adding real truffle. Scallops overcooked. Decent lobster bisque. Overpriced everything. Would be so much better without the loud nightclub singer and if the quality of the food matched the prices. Or lose the pretensions and just serve nicely prepared mid-level food.
