We went here on a very cold night and it was quite cool at our table. The maitra d was very accomodating and offered to move us. Instead, he brought a space heater. Our server was very good, although she didn't tell me that the sauce for the scallops was made with red peppers, which I had told her I dislike. The glass of wine I got was very small - so next time I would opt for a bottle, at least you know what you are getting. My husband had a filet - he said it was good, but not as tender as the ones we get at the super market. The calamari app was very tasty.

We chose Pete Miller's because our friends from out of town enjoy good food and live Jazz. All of us were very pleased with the experience.

My wife absolutely loved the Salmon & Prawn Brodo and my 14oz Boneless Ribeye was perfect for every bite with an even Medium cooked from end to end. I added the Alaskan King Crab and the sauteded mushrooms which for me were just the right touch. The King Crab was flakey and a great counter point to the steak. Both my wife and I really enjoyed finishing off the entire bowl of shareable Brussel Sprouts! The La Marca Prosecco for my wife and my Falesco Tellus Merlot were outstanding for our different meals. We meant to take just one desert to share back to our hotel for later, but couldn't agree so shared both the Death by Chocolate Cheesecake and the Key Lime Tart. They were both to die for.

The food, as always, was great. The room was cold because we were there on a REALLY cold night. It made it slightly less enjoyable. They were aware enough not to seat anybody by the windows!

Nice place. Food was good. Only real complaint was being seated essentially 'on stage'. The music was great, just too loud for conversation. Probably shouldn't be any seating that close to the perfomers.

Came here early on New Year's Ever. We love sitting at the bar, having appetizers, a drink and listening to soft jazz music. Nicest bar on the North Shore, friendly bartenders and great food, even for my vegetarian wife.

We went to Pete Miller's for a New Years Eve dinner. The food was great! The people watching was entertaining. Our waiter was attentive but not overly attentive. They had two jazz bands going in separate rooms, but we were still able to have a conversation. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Celebrating our anniversary here was a good choice. With a traditional steakhouse feel, they have a full bar and large, old styled booths in a semi formal setting. A jazz duo was playing the night we were there and they were a great add-on to the traditional decor.

We started out with old fashions using our favorite bourbon and I have to say, those were the best old fashions we ever had! I also had a cab with my steak and it was just ok, their wine list was a bit small and uninteresting. We loved our steak, lobster tail and short rib ravioli! Quite filling and delicious! We each had a different salad, plentiful and tasty. The bread and butter were an outrageously savory treat with our salads. Dessert was the flourless chocolate mousse cake which was outstanding. In sum, if you don’t mind the traditional steakhouse setting, it’s a great place for steak and seafood. We will be back!

Our reservation was for 6:30 on Christmas Eve. We arrived (party of 2) at 6:20, ordered our meal at 6:30 and left at 7.!!!!!!! We had no time to even enjoy the appetizers when the main courses arrived. We felt very rushed. We were seated in a high traffic area & the room was cold. My friend ordered a non-spicy Bloody Mary and it arrived spicy. The shrimp cocktail arrived on a huge bed of ice in a huge bowel that took up most of the space in front of me. The shrimp weren’t properly peeled and had large strands hanging from them! Very unappetizing. The sea bass had no flavor. We were so disappointed with everything.

We were very impressed with the décor of the restaurant. It was like stepping back into a steak house of years past. The drinks were very well done and the food was excellent. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We had the tuna on sorba noodles, bone in filet and ribs and all were great. Valet parking also made the visit easy. I would highly recommend this place.

Although very crowded with two private parties, our waiter was very attentive to the two of us! Noise level was a little louder than usual, and the jazz singer could have lowered her volume slightly, but overall it was a delightful evening with great steaks!

Our food was cooked perfectly and they even had a kids meal with a petite filet. Everyone was so nice to our son in this very grown up restaurant! We will defintely be going back again!

Food and service were excellent but amplified live music was so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation across a small table for six, even with shouting. There was a speaker up by the ceiling above our table, blasting right at us.

We have been Pete Miller's regulars forever, but I have to say that the food on Saturday night was disappointing. The lobster tails were incredibly dry and stringy, and a guest in my party said her lamb chops were not particularly good. Still, the appetizers, salads and sides were excellent, as always, and the staff tried hard to stay on top of the service which was a challenge as the restaurant filled to capacity. We will be back, but we might wait until the season changes and more fresh options are available.

I was there for my brothers birthday. I had the short rib ravioli, which I tasted more pasta than short rib. The Lobster bisque soup was very good. I had a cucumber Margarita which was quite tasty , and the Bananas foster for dessert, very yummy. I would definitely go back. It is a bit pricey, but we had a live Jazz quartet for entertainment ,so it makes sense when the bill comes.

Purchased a gift card for the place at a silent auction benefit, so the splurge was easier to swallow, so to speak. Not one to normally indulge in a costly, quality steak and seafood dinner, I was looking forward to an old-school experience and the place didn't disappoint. Service was excellent, though slightly less formal than the price point would suggest. My last such dinner was at the Cape Cod Room, where the service was more buttoned up. Server was knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients, dishes served up hot, cooked and seasoned properly and tastefully presented. Seated in a quiet corner of the dining room so the live music was a nice backdrop that allowed for easy conversation. Wine list is accessible, not extravagant. Overall almost exactly as expected.

Ok there is definately a change in vibe since management switched. The menu on one sheet is just tacky, none of the old house special or charms is there. I noticed something was out of place when I saw the utensils and salt and pepper dispensers. Seriously lack of detail in such a high staple in evanston, is just bad business. I pray things change

Both the food and service were atrocious. Our server was inattentive brought the wrong side dish and said “oh well” and disappeared for the night. Never asked if we were enjoying the food. The food was cold overcooked and tasteless. For the prices they charge they should be ashamed of what they serve. Don’t waste you money on this restaurant.

They don’t offer a mignonette sauce for raw oysters and act like they don’t what it is, which is strange for a steak house that promotes oysters. The aged Kansas City strip steak was ordered rare and was tough and chewy. The manager stopped by the table and mentioned that they usually mention to order it more well done to be chewable. They didn’t to us and it wasn’t worth the $50.00 price on the menu. Too many other steakhouses to choose from in Chicago to consider returning here.

The place is nice. the staff is OK, but do not seem that friendly. Went on a wednesdy night, place not crowded and we waited a lot to get attended.
The food, is fine, just too pricey for what it is.
the appetizer was good, tiny lamb chops, well cooked and with flavor. (was the best of our meal).
We had the duo filet which was the best of our 2 entrees. while the portion is ok, and goes well with price. however, the bearnaise was way too salty, but the mash potatoes, were very good.
The aged NY angus , was the other entree, and , it did not have too much flavor for an aged steak, probably could do the same at home, so no big deal for that entree. I ordered
it with broccoli, which had (really)nothing to it.
Had a great bottle of wine (st Francis Merlot from Sonoma), at a correct price, and was difficult to get as it was the last bottle, the oenologue wasn't that of a help.
The girls playing the live music were very good and jazzy, loud enough for a normal conversation and well array of music, thanks girls.
Will not come back to eat, as I can cook more or less the same things at home.
I could come back for the wine and the music.

Ambiance and service are great at Pete Miller's. Our waiter was great. However he recommended the Dry-Aged Bone-In Kansas City Strip ($48.00). I ordered it medium, as I do with just about any steak. I have to say it was tough and a bit more on the fatty side than I anticipated. It was "OK" and maybe it (or I) were just "off" that day. The rest of our group enjoyed their meals, so it just may have been me or my steak that night ... and maybe I should have said something. However I would go back again ... and just order something else instead.

Chose Pete Miller’s because we won a gift card in a contest. Made reservations (highly recommended on Sat. night) so no waiting. Seated at a nice corner table near the live jazz so it was difficult to have much of a conversation, but the music was really great. I loved the decor. Very classy yet still comfortable and not “stuffy” at all.

Our server was very personable and took our wine order quickly. After we got the bottle of wine, she asked if we’d like to enjoy it for a bit before we ordered dinner. If we had known our “okay, good idea” response would lead to a 45 minute period of being completely ignored by our server, we would have ordered right away. Despite this, the entire staff was polite, professional, and accommodating.

The house salads were fine but the real stars of the meal were the filets. Both (7 oz. and 10 oz.) ordered medium were cooked perfectly. If you are looking for a real steakhouse where the chef understands beef and how to prepare it, this is the place! Too full for dessert but we would definitely return on another visit to Evanston.

Overall, great atmosphere with the live jazz, good wine list, excellent steaks, and average service added up to a wonderful evening.
