The fish dishes are outstanding. There are many choices, all so good it is hard to choose. The staff members are very friendly, and so helpful.
Found place on Open Table with a 10 minute notice, an outstanding find. Alone, on a businss trip, found way walking within 2 blocks of my lovely lodging in a safe yet vibrant neighborhood. A busy plce, with a sense of humor, takes it food and drink seriously, and respectfully serves gorgeous fare at a sensible pace. Couples, loners, groups, all are welcome and treated equitably.
SErvers and hosts bend over backwards to accommadate each quest.
We made a reservation and were seated immediately. I had the corn nut crusted redfish and it was delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The owner stopped by our table and we had fun asking him questions and joking around. It was a fun dining experience for our group.
This small restaurant is simply outstanding. Not too crazy on a Saturday night and the food and service are incredible. Everything is extremely fresh and prepared/served on a 5 star level. Waiter and bar staff were exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive at all. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Best meal I have had in years! Great service! Will return
I eat here whenever I'm in Washington, DC. The menu is interesting and the food well-prepared. This time I felt the service was disappointing. The server was knowledgeable and friendly, but it took a very long time to (1) get our food and (2) have anyone attend to us once we got it. We intended to order dessert, but after waiting about 40 minutes after our plates were cleared, finally just requested the check which also took a long time to get. I realize it was crowded but no more so than in my prior visits. This will make me think twice about returning.
One of the best meal I’ve had in Washington DC. Friendly atmosphere, food was great from start to end would recommend this restaurant to everyone..
We were a few minutes late, but the hostess was very kind and accommodating and she sat us as soon as possible. I didn't think it would be so pricey given the reviews. Mine plate (linguine) was good, but my guest's salmon was too salty for her taste. All in all it has a nice atmosphere.
Delicious as always. Super busy on a Saturday night, but everyone worked hard and the food was delicious. The staff was great, like always. The fish is always fresh and prepared in very interesting ways. Tuna was great, and the cod outstanding, as was the aged rum that we sipped at the end! Can't wait to return to try more items!
Amazing food and service ! A staple in the DuPont Circle neighborhood.
The waitress did not remember that a dish was ordered with the “squid ink sauce” on the side, it was exceedingly noisy (not “energetic”), and the value for money was very poor.
The service is good. The sea food is great. I suggest you take a reservation before visiting.
This is the third time we have taken friends here after discovering and will be back again I'm sure. Such a gem of a seafood restaurant. Everyone we have taken there has enjoyed.
Peace never fails to deliver new fish tastes and experiences. My husband and I love it and will
use any excuse to eat there
Wonderful good! Very sweet entertaining staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal!
A friend/colleague from San Francisco was visiting and he's a real foodie. He was absolutely blown away by the tuna dish - so much so he said it was the BEST fish dish he's ever eaten. For him to say that is saying something! And the wonderful Portuguese waitress was there and she's is just the icing on top - she made the evening even more fun! Many thanks
Our waiter, Don, was fantastic. We've been in the business since the 70's and were very pleased with every aspect of the food and service.
The best ingredients, perfectly cooked! We eat here often and can attest that everything on the menu is delicious.
We used to love this restaurant. Maybe Sunday evening is not the best time to go?
Excellent food and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend it
An outstanding seafood restaurant. I was dining alone and made to feel very welcome from the moment I walked in. I have lived in NewEngland most of my life, so I am no stranger to fresh and high quality fish. The Cod I had at Pesce was, hands down, the best piece of Cod I have ever had. It was truly outstanding. The soup and my wine were also great. The service and the welcoming atmosphere matched my food and drink. I give Pesce my highest recommendation, and look forward to returning the next time I am in DC.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Pesce. The cocktails were perfect and the meal was very good. Love the atmosphere!
Excellent! Always dine here when in D.C. (for many years).
Friendly and knowledgeable attendant, recommendations were superb.
Italian beer was the best!
We had an early dinner and it was excellent. The beet salad with gold & red beets plus goat cheese and whipped beet mousse was terrific, and the cod was delicious and cooked to perfection. I've always had wonderful meals at Pesce over the years.
The seafood is the reason to go and it is outstanding. Wonderful oyster plate, perfectly prepared tuna, delicious bay scallops with a very knowledgeable and apt wine recommendation within our price range. This is a great restaurant and I always kick myself that out of inertia we are not there more often.
always an excellent choice of fresh seafood - great appetizers and mains - lots of aquatic choices. Well plated and perfectly prepared. Casual dining with an attentive and caring staff
Best sardines in DC - fresh from Portugal. Excellent caring service.
I went after a gap of a couple of years - but must say that I really enjoyed the place. The food, decor, and service were excellent as was the ambiance.
Relaxed place, the "Cheers" of restaurants, the Chef is top drawer! And, Carla in Cheers is reborn as "Judita" aka "Her Loveliness!"
Great selection of fresh seafood! Good presentation; very flavorful. Nice cocktail/drink choices. Wonderful service. Would definitely return.
Very slow service compared to other visits was disappointing as I had recommended for a business dinner
I have been going to Pesce for many years. It has been one of my favorite restaurants in the DuPont Circle area. I have enjoyed the chalkboard menu with fresh and beautifully presented seafood dishes for many meals. I thought that I would take my partner there for a Valentine's Dinner. This absolutely abysmal evening has now become one of the most humorous events in our relationship. Pesce should stick to the chalkboard menu. They had a pre-set menu with 3 options for 4 courses. From the time we were seated until the time we ordered was at least 25 minutes. From the time we ordered to the time we received our first course, was 40 minutes. We finally asked for them to bring all courses as they are available, but that did not make a difference. The kitchen was not prepared, and according to our food runner "the kitchen is a disorganized mess." The food was marginal at best. Several of the courses were inedible including the Squab Empanada, and the Roasted Oysters. The table next to us cancelled the last course because it took too long. The table on the other side of us had to return their desert because "it tasted like propane." My advice to Pesce is... stick to what you know and what you do well. Do not take on more than you can handle. For holiday events have more than 1 server for 20 tables. Organize your kitchen staff. Focus on quality and focus on service.
Had a V date here and they were accommodating when we were a little late to the RSVP. The hostess couldn't remember my name after tell her 3 times and I had to point out our RSVP on the tablet. We got seated at the far end and the lighting was dim in our area. Our waiter got to us 5 mins after seating and shortly took our order. The calamari was exceptional but our main dishes was lacking.
The red seabream was moist but needed more seasoning. Wait staff was prompt in filling our water but our waiter was hardly seen. Not even a goodbye when we left.
Interesting conversations with the staff about the fish and other ingredients and their provenance.
Wonderful restaurant, that serves some of the best, most well prepared fish as well as great salads in DC.
Perfect for lunch, in particular.
Our food was definitely above average, and outstanding service...
A fine restaurant for small groups and couples; very good food, with inventive dishes that work. Somewhat limited seating, and fairly quiet, but not entirely terrific for private/intimate conversations since it's small and the seating is limited. Comfortable ambiance overall. Great service. Limited but adequate wine selections.
Great service - very friendly and accommodating staff
Our experience was outstanding. The branzino and salmon were cooked perfectly, the accompaniments were delicious and we enjoyed our evening. The salads were excellent too, and we split a side of simple pasta to round it all out. Great service made it that much more fun.
