Pescatore BYOB Ratings and Reviews
I have dined at Pescatore twice, with mixed results. Their Caesar salad topped with shrimp and crabmeat is an absolute winner, but I was disappointed by the mixed seafood grill which seemed to lack flavor, except for the scallops. On a more recent visit, I ordered ravioli with scallops, butternut squash, dried cranberries and blended with butter and sage. The combination did not work, resulting in a cloyingly sweet dish, with the cranberries overwhelming the taste of the scallops and ravioli. The broccoli rabe that I ordered as a side dish was inedible as the vegetable was tough and stringy and overwhelmed by red pepper flakes. On the other hand, my dining companions had better luck with the black bass, short ribs and scallops with risotto entrees that they pronounced delicious.
Had our son (college freshman) out for dinner. Waitress was awesome. Food was good not great. Mine had mussels with sand in them, and broken clam shells, and too much pasta with not enough good seafood (too many mussels and small clams). Sons meal flavor was good, just too much sauce. Caesar (shared family style) salad with seafood wasn’t good. Not really good Caesar, and seafood seemed like leftovers/ scraps. I would say it was an ok meal. Deserts were awesome (chocolate cake and cannoli)
Our entire meal was perfect. We were a party of 6, celebrating a birthday.
Our reservation was honored and we were seated promptly. Waitress was excellent. Food is fresh, well prepared, and creative, with an emphasis on seafood and Italian.
BYOB is a big plus. Credit cards accepted. No corkage fee and very nice atmosphere. Easy to park on the street in front. The special appetizer of caesar salad on pita with lump crabmeat was amazing!
Our food was excellent. The appetizers arrived fairly quickly, and we had time to finish them before the entrees were served, meaning proper cadence for the meal. The regular menu is very good, and there was a fairly large list of specials to choose from. As a BYOB, this is a very reasonably priced dinner out, for great food. Its on my list of go-to places.
If my mother had cooked like this, I'd have stayed at home and taken a job nearby! The fall menu's up, although delicious soft shell crabs are still available thanks to the miracles of modern fish farming. We stuck with comfort food on this visit: salad, grilled octopus with fava beans, pasta bolognese, pork chop Milanese. We love the place so much that I'm starting to bore myself writing these "reviews".
This was the second time I went to this restaurant and brought my wife because it was very good the first time. The signature crab/shrimp caesar salad was not nearly as good the second time as the first. I took the first bite of the lobster ravioli, to find that the inside of the ravioli was still ice cold, essentially ice crystals. The were apologetic and took the plate back and simply microwaved the same dish, which is fine, but I could microwave ravioli at home, why would I come to a 'nice restaurant' and pay $26.95 for frozen ravioli. I was extremely surprised and disappointed when no one from the restaurant offered anything for the issue with the meal. I have been offered the dish or dessert for free at different places for a much smaller issue. A restaurant with an actual chef and the length of time you are there at the restaurant, you would think and EXPECT that the food would be throughly cooked and of correct temperature when served, and if not, you should not have to pay at least the full price of the meal.
We're running out of superlatives. Pescatore's still great, still a favorite, and still a model for neighborhood restaurants - top quality ingredients, just enough sophistication in recipes and presentation, and a simple pleasant vibe that makes eating there a great experience every time. This meal was octopus first, then crab cakes for my wife and scallops for me - and it was simply great!
We had a delicious dinner before attending an event at the Mann theater in Fairmount Park It was a great location in the quiet suburbs to have a nice dinner before attending the Mann which was then only 10 minutes away. I had the lobster ravioli special which was delicious and my husband had the gnocchi which was also very good. It is a BYOB so if you want alcohol you need to bring it. Very good dinner, great location for us going to an event afterwards. Worked out great. Would definitely recommend.
If you count our many reviews of Pescatore, it will be obvious that we're in a great position to comment on consistency - and Pescatore is the pinnacle of consistency. From the quality of the ingredients to the level of preparation to the innovation in recipes to presentation to service to interaction with staff, this is one fine place! We had simple staples last night - mussels, Caesar flatbread, calimari, and soft shells. Even the pesto and cheese set out with the bread was (as always) perfect. Every bite was wonderful and we left feeling fantastic. We always do! Thank you, Pescatore.
This was my first visit to Pescatore and it certainly will not be my last. The staff is on their game from the warm welcome we received from our hostess to the knowledgeable and helpful waitress. The flatbread salad was very tasty and enough to share. The main course was the linguini bolegnese and it was fabulous. Every ingredient was fresh and the portion size was large enough for me to pass on the dessert. I definitely recommend Pescatore.
Excellent food and service. We were a large party and had a late evening reservation.A bit disturbed however, when, after eating too many appetizers our party took the bulk of the meal home. Two of us ordered the Lobster di Mare and arrive home to find all of our lobster tails gone!! So upset! Given the price point of the restaurant it was distressing to say the least. Perhaps more care can be given when preparing takeaway? This is our family's default "occasion" restaurant and they were disturbed to say the least. Though the service was good it was perhaps a result of staff fatigue. Nonetheless, customers who spend upwards of 400 on a meal still deserve
