I would recommend but would definitely want to eat dinner in the cozy older room of the restaurant. We sat in the new room which is oddly cold and not cozy and atmospheric like one would expect as reflected in the adjoining room. Honestly, it was hard to figure out what they were thinking when decorating the new room.

Easily one of the best restaurants, byob or otherwise, on the Main Line. Fish was great, veal was great, always appropriately tasty and VERY fresh. My biggest complaint is that Pescatore is not in Bryn Mawr.

Dinner for four on a Sunday night. We understood going in that this was a heavily seafood oriented menu. However we were disappointed to see how unusual many of the options were and how few pasta dishes were available. And, even the pasta dishes were seafood oriented. They did serve bread at the table however it came cold and hard and basically looked like it just came out of a box. The wait staff was pleasant but certainly was not what I would call attentive. Once we decided on main dishes I have to say the food itself was for the most part quite good Though as I indicated we felt the selection was quite unusual and not exactly anything to go crazy over. We really did have a hard time deciding what we wanted, not because of too many selections, but primarily because they were too few really worth looking at.One member of the party got veal which left a bit to be desired. And the thing is the overall atmosphere always really on the dingy side. Being a neighborhood restaurant that can be expected of course. But looking around at the walls in the floors and everything it really was a bit unsettling to see how the place has been kept up.Overall we are certainly glad we gave this restaurant a shot, but honestly we would not go back again.

I’ve dined at Pescatore several times in the past, but this experience drove me to write my first Pescatore review.  They have recently expanded- which brings our neighborhood a beautiful update.  They have the quaint charming dining room and now a gorgeous new room for private parties and an expanded dining area.   As always, our meals were delicious with large portions.  The chef was able to cater to my daughter’s vegan diet. If you are looking for a traditional Italian meal in the area, you can’t beat Pescatore.  The money we save on dining at this BYOB will keep us as loyal customers!

We were celebrating with very close
Friends for my husbands birthday. We loved the appetizers and special salad. My husband thought his entre was salty. I had the bronzino which was very good not the best I’ve ever had. Our friends liked there meals. They brought a dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday which we thought was a very nice touch. Overall we liked our meal , the ambience, and would definitely come back again.

Overall, I was disappointed. The service was great, but the food was only average. Tried the chicken and the fish. Both could, have used seasoning. Everything was flat. Also, thought that the bread could have been better, since they made an effort to present it with shaved cheese and a pesto oil mix. Too bad the bread did not come up to the presentation. Apps were average as was the risotto. The best item we had on the menu was the artichokes.

Went for a spur of the moment dinner out. Our review is very much like the inside of the place— half good, half just ok. One half of the dining area is charming and dimly lit with twinkle lights while the other half is bright and under spotlights. The menu had items that sounded good but many had too many add-ons. Crabmeat where it didn’t belong, including in the lobster bisque. Salads with too many extras— apples, figs, and cranberries and nuts and cheese. Sides like Brussels sprouts were cooked to death and could use a lighter hand. The plate came with way too much on it (also a theme). This place has potential but needs to edit what they have. (Also why not Maine lobster tail? Not sure why South African is on the menu.)
In general this was good but could be better. Hopefully they will look at feedback and tweak a few things.

Nothing special about the food. To the point, I've never known my husband not to finish a pasta dish but he barely passed the 50 yard line with the torteloni (a basic pasta dish). The vealin my Veal Sinatra was tough and flavorless and featured jarred peppers, simply unacceptable for a feature ingredient. The tiramisu had something in it that was soured. Blech, blech, blech.

Once again a visit with great food and service. The service is always professional and friendly. The menu options are exceptional, as well as the optional specials. We enjoyed the stuffed veal chop and Chilean sea bass at a recent visit. The new expanded dining room was a pleasant surprise.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was quaint, warm welcoming, and BYOB. The waitress was knowledgeable, super patient, polite with a great personality. Our appetizer was a salad served on pita bread, topped with romaine lettuce, shrimp and crab meat with some type of mystery house dressing. It was Delicious!

For entrees I had the Veal Pavarotti. This dish was posted on-line, but surprisingly enough it was not
on the menu at the restaurant. The waitress made a special trip to the Chef to see if I could have this dish prepared, and she returned to the table with a yes. Online the ingredients for Veal Pavarotti consist of veal medallions, gulf shrimp, prosciutto di parma, mozzarella, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, marsalla demi-glace. I was excited about receiving the entrée only to find it was a total disappointment. The veal was over cooked – a little tough, the prosciutto was flavorless, there was no shrimp, nor were there sundried tomatoes, and the mushrooms were from a jar or a can. The Veal was served with brussels sprouts, which at best, were simply ok.

My niece had Lobster Di Mare housemade pappardelle, south african lobster tail, pancetta, provolone picante, tomato, onion, pomodoro which she raved about as being delicious. Her husband had a dish of spaghetti with shrimp and clams that he said was very good. It was my birthday, I was the guest at the table, so the last thing that I wanted to do was complain about anything and take the joy out of the special occasion. I indulged my meal quietly and lied about the quality and flavor of my dish. The truth is my entrée was a huge disappointment. If I dine at Pescatore’s again, I will be sure to stick to whatever is on the menu. If I return.

This was our first visit, at dinner on Christmas Eve. The overall service was very good, particularly considering that the restaurant was busy. I dined with my wife and son, and we all had three course dinners. The food overall is about average for an Italian restaurant, with none of our choices being really outstanding. Interestingly, none of us felt completed satisfied when finished, though the portions seemed adequate.
If you are in the Bala Cynwyd vicinity, you may want to try this restaurant when you have the urge for Italian food, but otherwise, I wouldn't recommend too long of a drive; you'll likely find a similar quality of Italian food in your own backyard.

My second visit and just as delicious as my first! If you like chicken livers, make sure you dine here. Everything is very fresh and the portions are very generous. We had the burrs ya & meatballs too. Entrees included sea bass, Nona’s Sunday spaghetti, lobster&crab, scallops & the veal chop special. We all loved our meals. The noise level in the back room can get a bit loud but the food compensates. BYOB is a plus too.

The food was great and the server was personable. It’s a little expensive for some of the dishes (depending on the portion size of the dish) but overall a hidden gem in Bala that’s perfect for a special night out.

This used to be an excellent restaurant. Recently it expanded, and they have not yet adjusted. My hot appetizer of meatballs came out of the kitchen cold, my entree of pork chops and brussel sprouts took forever to come out of the kitchen and was cold also. The others in my party complained of the same problem. We didn't stay for dessert. I would not recommend this restaurant any longer.

I usually don’t write reviews on here, but this was an awful dinner experience that left our party hungry and ordering pizza when we got home. We’ve been to Pescatore many times before but this will more than likely be the last. With the expansion of the dining room, the kitchen is running behind. It took 30 minutes to get our stuffed clams appetizer that were cold as if they were forgotten on the counter in the kitchen. The clams were taken back after explanation about their temperature, stacked underneath all the small plates and silverware and then brought back out as if we wouldn’t notice if was the same food you just had a handful of plates on top of was warmed up in the microwave. Then we waited another 40 minutes for our entrees that ended up being a watered down crab tomato sauce, bland seafood, and mushy pasta. By that time I lost my appetite. The server could see we were not happy and offered a cannoli to rectify the situation. Thing is we don’t eat cannolis so thanks but no thanks. All together paid $93 for one cold clam appetizer that was taken back after plates were stacked on them and given back to us and a bland pasta dish.

I get that restaurants have off nights just like people do, but this was a very bad night and a wasted bottle of red.

Advice to ownership: don’t expand and pawn off the reputation you built then lessen the quality of service and food to those that have made it a tradition of dining at your restaurant then leave them wondering if it’s worth coming back to spend their money on a lesser quality meal.

I made a reservation weeks in advance and when we arrived we were seated in the new section of the restaurant. I hadn’t been aware that this had opened. I asked to have a table for my party in the older dining room and we were told it wasn’t possible. The noise level in the new space was unacceptable. When one member of our party complained on the way out she was told that the noise cancelling panels were arriving next week.

It’s my feeling that we shouldn’t have been sitting in an area that was not completed. The noise level was unacceptable.

The food was wonderful.

While the food was very good, the prices were out of sight. One of my companions had the veal chop which was $41; we hadn't asked the prices of the specials, so in some way this is our fault. We also ordered the special Caesar salad with shrimp on flatbread; again our fault for not asking, but $25 for lettuce and 3 shrimp is out of scale. We would return, but we would also be more careful about how we ordered.

This was my 2nd time here and I ordered the seafood Pescatore again because it was so good the first time. We were meeting a friend we hadn’t seen in a while so we had a lot of conversation during the meal and the waitress never rushed us. We split one appetizer which was delicious. Grilled octopus salad. Plenty to share. We also had Fettuccine Bolognese which was awesome and a special of flatbread with Caesar salad and seafood. All portions were more than enough therefore we did not order dessert. I would definitely recommend Pescatore to my friends.

My husband and I ate at Pescatore on Saturday night. Our waitress was great! She was friendly, attentive and knew a lot about the menu! The food was amazing! Highly recommend the caeser salad over pita bread topped with crab and shrimp appetizer special it was out of this world! The only downfall was the close tables. I understand little BYOBs and tiny tables but the tables are 6 inches apart maybe, staggering them doesn’t help your guests feel comfortable. The two couples sitting on either side of us both discussed asking to be seated at another table- my suggestion lose a few tables it might lower your guest count but it will make your guests much more comfortable.

We went with a party of 10 and were seated in the new expanded room. The room was extremely loud and cramped, so tight we had to push our table from the wall so the smallest person could fit. But, the service was excellent! We had the meatballs, Caesar salad flatbread and octopus appetizers and all were delicious. I ate the bronzino and it was fabulous with perfectly cooked brussle sprouts and asparagus. A few people had the halibut special and they loved it! I highly recommend Pescotore BYOB and hope they remove a table from the expanded space and work on the heat, way to hot in that room!!!
