Pescara Ratings and Reviews
Not great first impressions. First, I asked twice in the reservation to have a wine list sent to me before dining; never happened; no communication. Second, the coat room is packed with furniture and a mess. Then of course, after informing both hostesses of my name and reservation time and that I was going to the bar to have a cocktail while I wait for my table to open (I was 45 minutes early), and both hostesses forgetting and subsequently cancelling my reservation, I was ready to leave and go elsewhere. It didn't help that the hostess was trying to laugh off their mistake. I didn't find it funny. My reservation was 8:30 and at 8:50 I finally approached the hostesses to ask when they were going to seat me. That's when they realized their mistake. Fortunately, Nathan, the server was a rock star. Food was great, service was great. Still have a bad taste in my mouth due to hostess team. It again, didn't help the next day when I called for a to-go order and I sat on hold for 10 minutes before I finally hung up and called back. Then was told by the server that the tuna appetizer was not allowed to served to-go because it was raw, and "the Minnesota Department of Health doesn't allow us to sell raw meats". Not true. Number one, that's Pescara's policy, not the department of health. I order sushi twice a week raw fish. And, to-go orders are charged $1 per container for "environmental fees" which I find ridiculous. Not sure I'll be back. Nathan was great, but there's a lot of restaurants in town. Disappointing overall.
It was an anniversary dinner and we had a pleasant evening. Did not get requested booth but got decent seating. Service was good. Wine advise helpful but wine uninspiring. Brussels sprouts way overloaded with chunks of ham. We remembered crisp prosciutto. Fish and scallops excellent. No complaints but not memorable.
We chose Pescara for our 7th anniversary and we could not be happier with our choice. Prior to dining I had asked for our table to set with two Moscow mules in the special engraved brass cups I purchased. The staff came through in great fashion. Service from Keiffer was excellent as well as the food. I would recommend Pescara for those special occasions. Great atmosphere, great food, and great people. Well done!
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there. The food was outstanding; I had the lobster bisque which contained a healthy amount of lobster, followed by the best fresh branzino I have ever had. My wife had an awesome salad and then a beautifully presented surf and turf. You could cut the steak with a fork! The only disappointment was the lack of recognition of our anniversary even although it was asked if this was a special occasion.
Usually the service and food are exceptional. We come here every time we are in town. However we left disappointed last night for dinner and today for lunch.
My salmon was cold for dinner last evening. They made it right by warming it up and giving us dessert for free. Same thing happened last august. My steak was cold and they had to take it back and warm it up. Today for lunch the fish tacos which are usually delightful left much to be desired. Way too much slaw and once again cold fish. Ketchup for the fries had a film on the top. I assume it sat out last evening. The tea also had a weird taste and usually the tea is really fresh and good. Also for lunch we sat for awhile without a drink refill. Very rare for this establishment. So we love this restaurant but service and quality seem to be slipping. We will give it another try next time we come to town but if we receive another cold meal we might have to move on. I appreciate the customer service in making things right but it is getting to be a pattern and that is a problem.
Just went for bunch. They didn't want to seat us until we told them we made a reservation thru this app. It was odd. It wasn't busy and they didn't have to do much because it was a buffet. We didn't order anything from the kitchen. I usually love the fish here and everything and during brunch it's the best deal! So we planned our day around it as it is never busy on Sunday and yet they nearly turned us away and made us wait. It was just really odd and I didn't get a great explanation as to why. Either way, open table saved the day.
Had to be in Minnesota for a week and ate here several times and was never disappointed . The wait staff, especially Lisa, Michael and Tyler were outstanding and went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met . The food is delicious and creative and this restaurant is a MUST when in Rochester.
mediocre at best, this is a typical hotel buffet ( frozen fried hash browns, fried scrambled eggs, fried sausage links, hard fried bacon, noodles in ketchup, diced fruit- water mellon & grapes, stale puff pastry, dry cereal No dairy alternatives, no almond milk, no salsa for the eggs, no gluten free option ) My observation was the kitchen does not replenish the buffet and we had to wait 30 minutes for them to restock the fruit after asking. They never replenished the empty chafing dishes that once held the sausage, the scrambled eggs, the pasta dish, soup, et cetera so by 1pm every dish was pretty much empty and there were still guest arriving to eat. They serve up until 2pm, so the 3 tables that arrived at 1:30 had very limited options left ,as most of the chafing dishes were empty.
Excellent seafood but very poor service.
Seafood was excellent as usual but very poor service. They forgot to bring us the salads. Main course came out before we could eat the appetizer. Part of the dessert was missing. Most importantly nobody cared. When we inquired about these issues we were ignored.
We have been to Pescara several times, but this last time we went the food was really lacking which surprised us. My filet was very red (not pink) in the middle even though I ordered it medium well, and it was tough where in the past it has melted in my mouth like butter. The scallops were not cooked as well, very rubbery. The Gouda hash browns were very dry not creamy like they have been in the past. My wine and salad was good, and my husband enjoyed his shrimp but overall we were disappointed at the meal we had.
The restaurant looks good. Nice ambience. The food was very good, very well prepared and the timing was appropriate. The server was excellent. Note that even though the name is a Region capital of Italy, it is NOT an Italian restaurant. Unfortunately the vanilla ice cream was absolutely unacceptable . Even though the quality and service were very good/excellent I believe the price is a bit high.
By far one of the best restaurants in Rochester. While the preparations are not fancy the seafood is exceptionally fresh and beautifully prepared - multiple ways. The regular wine ist is very nice with good pricing. I did not look at the special Coravin preserved wine list this visit (we have been here at least 10 times in 5 years) but in the past it has been very interesting with wines not available elsewhere. The restaurant is convenient to the downtown skyway.
Have been coming here since Pescara opened. It's always a treat -- love the ambiance, it's cozy, yet vital. Food never disappoints. Have eaten at the bar one time -- and that was fun and interesting too. Our waiters have always been attentive , knowledgeable and very pleasant, but not intrusive. Always recommend it for those driving down from the Twin Cities.
