Pescara Ratings and Reviews
Usually the service and food are exceptional. We come here every time we are in town. However we left disappointed last night for dinner and today for lunch.
My salmon was cold for dinner last evening. They made it right by warming it up and giving us dessert for free. Same thing happened last august. My steak was cold and they had to take it back and warm it up. Today for lunch the fish tacos which are usually delightful left much to be desired. Way too much slaw and once again cold fish. Ketchup for the fries had a film on the top. I assume it sat out last evening. The tea also had a weird taste and usually the tea is really fresh and good. Also for lunch we sat for awhile without a drink refill. Very rare for this establishment. So we love this restaurant but service and quality seem to be slipping. We will give it another try next time we come to town but if we receive another cold meal we might have to move on. I appreciate the customer service in making things right but it is getting to be a pattern and that is a problem.
Just went for bunch. They didn't want to seat us until we told them we made a reservation thru this app. It was odd. It wasn't busy and they didn't have to do much because it was a buffet. We didn't order anything from the kitchen. I usually love the fish here and everything and during brunch it's the best deal! So we planned our day around it as it is never busy on Sunday and yet they nearly turned us away and made us wait. It was just really odd and I didn't get a great explanation as to why. Either way, open table saved the day.
Had to be in Minnesota for a week and ate here several times and was never disappointed . The wait staff, especially Lisa, Michael and Tyler were outstanding and went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met . The food is delicious and creative and this restaurant is a MUST when in Rochester.
mediocre at best, this is a typical hotel buffet ( frozen fried hash browns, fried scrambled eggs, fried sausage links, hard fried bacon, noodles in ketchup, diced fruit- water mellon & grapes, stale puff pastry, dry cereal No dairy alternatives, no almond milk, no salsa for the eggs, no gluten free option ) My observation was the kitchen does not replenish the buffet and we had to wait 30 minutes for them to restock the fruit after asking. They never replenished the empty chafing dishes that once held the sausage, the scrambled eggs, the pasta dish, soup, et cetera so by 1pm every dish was pretty much empty and there were still guest arriving to eat. They serve up until 2pm, so the 3 tables that arrived at 1:30 had very limited options left ,as most of the chafing dishes were empty.
Excellent seafood but very poor service.
Seafood was excellent as usual but very poor service. They forgot to bring us the salads. Main course came out before we could eat the appetizer. Part of the dessert was missing. Most importantly nobody cared. When we inquired about these issues we were ignored.
We have been to Pescara several times, but this last time we went the food was really lacking which surprised us. My filet was very red (not pink) in the middle even though I ordered it medium well, and it was tough where in the past it has melted in my mouth like butter. The scallops were not cooked as well, very rubbery. The Gouda hash browns were very dry not creamy like they have been in the past. My wine and salad was good, and my husband enjoyed his shrimp but overall we were disappointed at the meal we had.
The restaurant looks good. Nice ambience. The food was very good, very well prepared and the timing was appropriate. The server was excellent. Note that even though the name is a Region capital of Italy, it is NOT an Italian restaurant. Unfortunately the vanilla ice cream was absolutely unacceptable . Even though the quality and service were very good/excellent I believe the price is a bit high.
By far one of the best restaurants in Rochester. While the preparations are not fancy the seafood is exceptionally fresh and beautifully prepared - multiple ways. The regular wine ist is very nice with good pricing. I did not look at the special Coravin preserved wine list this visit (we have been here at least 10 times in 5 years) but in the past it has been very interesting with wines not available elsewhere. The restaurant is convenient to the downtown skyway.
Have been coming here since Pescara opened. It's always a treat -- love the ambiance, it's cozy, yet vital. Food never disappoints. Have eaten at the bar one time -- and that was fun and interesting too. Our waiters have always been attentive , knowledgeable and very pleasant, but not intrusive. Always recommend it for those driving down from the Twin Cities.
First time visit for luncheon birthday celebration. Very quiet booth where we could talk and not hear other noise.
Our waitress, Jennifer, was very helpful with helping us select our meals. The asparagus was outstanding as well as the crab cake sliders.
I only wish the house wine was less than $9 a glass. I would have enjoyed 2 glasses if it was $5 during the lunch hour.
We would never go back! It's way over priced and very small portions.
Spinach salad was large and a good value prior to entree and tasty.
The shrimp pasta was in a large bowl, but a small cup sized circle in middle, ARE THEY KIDDING?
and completely tasteless, suppose to be spicy but watered down tomato sauce for $30
and I ordered salmon that was to have fingerling potatoes and asparagus and they were
chopped up into the size of my pinky finger under the salmon, ARE THEY KIDDING for $35
GO TO TERZA instead, or HEFE Rojo Mexican restaurant I would seriously like some money
back for the $80 we spent, VERY POOR PERFORMANCE.
Pescara was a great find. contemporary decor, very well stocked bar, quiet ambiance. Our server Kiefer, very knowledgable about food and beverage we inquired about, service efficient and responsive. Drinks were well made, the wine by the glass is of good variety, cost/per pour ratio. Oysters were wonderfully fresh, tuna tartar excellent, and the "signature" scallop dish a must have by anyone choosing this restaurant that likes scallops; simple, tasty and unusual. The menu leans to seafood/fish with a good variety, all daily fresh. We will return.
They have a wonderful menu that focuses on fresh fish/seafood. Each is beautifully prepared with lovely sauces (light) and vegetables. The side dishes are also wonderful. I try to get there every time I am in Rochester, MN. The staff is lovely and the ambiance restful.
We dined at Pescara for my spouses birthday. As usual the noise level was very quiet...one of the things we really enjoy about this restaurant. The service was not rushed, but a bit on the slow side. It took some time for our salads to show up and before we had finished with those the entree's arrived...although we were almost finished with the salads it would have been nicer if the entree timing was say 5 mins or so later...after the salad plates had been cleared.
To start we each had a glass of white wine (SB)...it was nice and cold (sometimes we find this is served too warm for our liking)...we paired this with the lobster bisque and crab-cake. The lobster bisque is delicious, but of course rich, so a cup is sufficient. The crab-cake is quite large and packed full of crab meat (rather than filler)...we shared both of these. My wife had the mixed greens salad and I had the beet salad...both were delicious and a good size. The pearl onions on the beet salad were so good! Could have used a bit more goat cheese on this salad.
Both of us chose the Insignia scallops as an entree (paired with a nice Pinot Noir - Willamette)...these scallops are the best! Obviously Pescara uses a dry-packed scallop (as opposed to wet)...they were seared beautifully on one side and were so tender and tasty! The serving includes 5 large sea scallops...neither of us were able to finish them....but, they were good at home the next day! We both passed on dessert as were pretty full by this point.
Before tip the bill was just under $200, not an every-day dining place for us, but very enjoyable to dine here on occasion. They do have lunch available here for around $10, so we do drop in more often for that meal.
The Artic char and halibut was very tasty but not outstanding...lobster bisque was wonderful. I have dined in many fine restaurants that offer more ambiance and better presentation than what I experienced at the Pescara. Also seemed over priced for the choices. We had a meal the evening prior at another restaurant that was less in cost, better in view, equal service at one third the cost.
We've come to know pescara to be a seafood haven. A place where ordering scallops will not leave you disappointed by a flavorless chewy puck and the fish is not that magical combination of watery and dry. No the seafood is treated with the respect it deserves and you can be confident of the quality of food when you arrive.
had to wait when we showed up, eventhough we had a reservation. Were sat at a 4 seat table then they took away the other 2 place settings but left the chairs, so our legs banging into them all dinner. hostess dropped the menu on the floor, but then just picked it up and gave it to my wife. Everytime they poured water, they reached across. Salads came out and the waiter had his thumb in the dish, not very appetizing. Fish was totally over cooked. Not a good value.
The food was good. The only think we didn't like is where they seated us. We were just 2, and we were seated right by a small wall. Not the optimal place to sit. Surprised they had decided to place a small table right there by the wall.
We will return again in the future. However, we will speak up next time if seated there again.
