Loved the outdoor dinning. Food was exceptional as well as our service. We enjoyed it so much we went back on Sunday morning for brunch. Again, highest quality of food and service.
We love this place! Every time we come in town especially if we come in with friends, we have dinner here. The staff is extremely professional, kind, and accommodating.
I found Persimmon's through TripAdvisor because I wanted to eat at a restaurant on the water on our way to the beach. It was a great find! Lots of parking, right on the water, covered areas to eat outside. They are known for their fried green tomatoes and brussel sprouts, so I tried them both with the crabcake. It was all fantastic! We referred other friends, who also tried it and loved it. Would definitely go back next time we're in the area.
Great food, prepared well with a nice presentation.
The Food is good, love the open air deck and the Sunday afternoon music.
The service was slow. Part of our order was not given to us. We were not charged either. The drinks were very overpriced for the amount of alcohol actually in the drink. But it was a nice setting and the food was good.
I was really excited to try this place but was disappointed. I had the country ham wrapped chicken pasta. The chicken was not cooked all the way. The service was horrible. Probably wouldn’t go back. The only good thing was the view, but not worth it
The experience was perfect for celebrating my mother’s 74th birthday. She enjoyed the outside seating and watching the boats. The food was excellent.
The service was a bit too casual and allergies were not recognized.
The entrees were the equal or better of anything available in the Raleigh/Durham food-haven. At our table there was one seafood appetizer and two seafood entrees accompanied by very creative and well-balanced farm fresh produce. Quite good.
The trappings that one finds with food at the top level were not available, notably the service, which at the table was okay, but took an unacceptable time to get a wine refill, and a reported 15-minute wait for a cup of coffee. I think for $35 entrees there should be a tablecloth on the table.
This was a great experience. Food was outstanding. Atmosphere was great. Service and value were wonderful for a small town upscale restaurant. Only thing was men's bathroom, had strong odor, only bad thing I can say. Will definitely be back.
Brought guests from out of town to dine on the deck and they loved the view, service and food.
Great experience! We could have eaten outside, but chose indoor dining and felt entirely safe during this pandemic. Jae was an excellent server and the food was fantastic.
Outstanding food and service! I highly recommend this restaurant. Fresh catch of the day was fantastic.
Simply wonderful. Planning lunch only but so good came back for dinner.
First time eating here. Loves eating outside with a view of the river. The food was very good and the service was great. Hope to go back again very soon!
food was not up to par. we ate there several months ago & it was good but this time everything was lukewarm & not very tasty.
only saving grace was the atmosphere and service
was nice despite being busy
Went to hear a band!
We eat here often and I have to say that this time was the worst food we have had. It is usually excellent. Bad day?
This place is excellent one of my favorite
Rachel M. was friendly, informative and professional in caring for my wife and me yesterday. She checked on us regarding beverages and food quality. We appreciate her hospitality and service. Please pass on our thanks to her. The food quality was superb, as usual. It is worth the drive from Jacksonville to dine in a quality restaurant. Thank you
Great experience, ate on the patio with the water and harbor next to us. Food was most excellent. The appetizers were to die for, with the Calamari the best. However the Scallops Casino were not far behind. My Fish and chips was very tasty, outstanding chips. We will go return on next trip in October.
This was our first time eating at Persimmons. Sitting by the water was wonderful and even though it was almost 90 out, it was comfortable. The service was quite good and the food likewise, although a little pricey. We had no trouble social distancing w/the other diners, probably because there weren't many :( The staff all wore masks as well.
Overall, a very pleasant evening.
It’s always a treat to dine at Persimmons. We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful water view. I ordered the Mahi-mahi fish tacos, which were good. The fish was very flavorful and the slaw and dressing weren’t overpowering. The tacos didn’t come with any sides and I would have liked to have had a small side salad. Next time I will order one to go along with it.
This restaurant always serves unique dishes that will please most palates. They source their ingredients locally which I like .
Dinner at Persimmons was a great experience. The food was priced for the quality and the view was spectacular!!! It is a great place for a quiet dinner or date night. I would highly recommend it!!!
We went for lunch and were surprised to find that the lunch menu looked nothing like what was on their website. Other than that, it met our expectation. Service was very good. I had the shrimp & grits with the remoulade on the side, which was a good move. The S&G were great without the remoulade. My wife had a salad with mahi-mahi and found the fish tasty but tough. Sat outside with good distancing but as usual in the summer in New Bern it was hot and relatively still.
The outside dining is very nice. The staff was very nice. They wore mask. Wish they wore gloves. The food isn't good. Not a large selection. The "MKT" fish is catfish???? You're on the water. No flounder, trout? The peel & eat shrimp were good. The chicken wings were OK. Too greasy. The shrimp & grits were "too busy" sometimes keeping simple is best. The fries weren't good. They were too hard. Some may like crispy fries...I don't. The burgers were OK, but overpriced. Five Guys is way better. Last but not least...the 6 oz. Sirloin & crab cake. I received a rubbery black hockey puck & a black mushy crab cake. This was on top of some disgusting sides that sat in grease, an inch deep. I couldn't eat it. I asked that it be removed from my bill. My server was very nice. She stated she would have to ask the manager. The manager asked what was wrong. I informed her. She apologized, and removed it from my bill. Our plans were to get dessert, but everything was so bad, we didn't want to pay for a bad dessert too. It was our 32nd Wedding Anniversary, and we hadn't ate at a restaurant since March 2020. I thought eating outside would be OK. The atmosphere was nice, but overall a flop. $90.00 for food that wasn't good during a pandemic is DEPRESSING.
Excellent music playlist. Delicious seafood. We sat outside and felt very safe with all staff wearing masks.
The food was fresh and wonderful. The portions were "just right". We will definitely return. Great restaurant and great food.
Had reservations outside for 745 did not get seated till 8 PM server did not for show up until 8:30 PM, Otherwise good experience
Great food.....Great service....fantastic atmosphere...celebrated a birthday and had a grand time
The view justifies the existence of this restaurant. The location allows for mediocre over priced food that would otherwise run a business into the ground. The amount of effort put into the menu is clearly not proportional to the price.
persimmons continues to re-invent. The cocktail menu definitely was the start this time, almost as large as the real menu. Some inventive and fun drinks right now.
Great lunch menu. Server (Jason) was awesome. Only negative: tables were not spaced far enough for social distancing.
We love dining outside by the water! Great food and great service!
Eating dinner outside on Persimmon's patio overlooking the river and the lights is a lovely experience. The ambience is inviting and the service is great. Care is taken to observe appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of COVID. My criticism is that the food is over-ambitious. Too many flavors, too elaborately combined, overshadow the true taste of delicate seafood. I recommend the chef keep their dishes fresh, simple, and less over-embellished.
Outdoor dining location, ambiance, and view was fabulous. Oyster Rockefeller app was good, Brussels sprout app was cold and not crispy. Mahi entire was very tough, Crispy sea bass was good. Would recommend for drinks outside.
Good food, with excellent presentation and service.
Great food, great atmosphere, mixed drinks seem to be a little challenging on consistency. Would still highly recommend for quality of service, food quality and views!
Our lunch at Persimmons was excellent! We enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts, beet salad, and a crab cake. Each dish was perfect. Our waitress (her first day) was a pro!
Went straight to table. Waitress was right on time. Answered all questions and the recommendations were on point. Great food and evening.
