The glasses were incredibly dirty. The chicken was cold inside, the portion size of the fish was terribly small especially since we paid 8$ extra. We wished we had gotten a better experience for the money we paid.
Enjoyed the view and service was great best Cuban pork sandwich I’ve had in quite some time!
Katherine was our waitress for my birthday meal. She was friendly, outgoing, and very attentive. Food was fantastic. We had the hush puppies and brussel sprouts for starters. It was so very good. We had the jerk snapper special and the ribeye. Everything was perfect. The best night.
The food was very tasty. Our table was set with dirty plates and glassware, but our waiter quickly fixed the problem.
I would say this is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in New Bern!!
We “loved” our server. She had a great personality. The hushpuppies were delicious! The drinks were also pretty good. Though the main dishes weren’t how we thought they’d be made, the entrees weren’t bad. Could have used more seasoning on the fried green tomatoes. The views from the outdoor dining were awesome, and it wasn’t buggy. Would come back again if ever back in New Bern.
Wonderful view of water. Wait staff attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. Would definitely come back .
7-27. Great outdoor facility and atmosphere.
Staff a bit too casual about water spilled leading into dining room from service area. Hazardous!
We had a very nice server and our food was excellent. Even though the evening was beautiful, we chose to sit indoors (the singer didn't sound very good). Persimmons is our "Go-To Restaurant" for ambience and excellent entree choices.
Food was good, esp the vegetable sides and desserts. Wished for more fresh seafood choices and less noise. Was uncomfortably warm inside on a hot day.
Great food, spectacular atmosphere and view, excellent service.
First time dining here and will definitely go back. Best calamari around, so generous and so fresh. The Tomato Pie was to die for as our wonderful serve Renee said it would be!! The view was breathtaking!! Don't miss if your in town!
The food was tasty and sitting on the outdoor patio made for a lovely evening! We would come again.
This place is the definition of overpriced nonsense with a nice view. Average entree is about 30 dollars, add just 2 drinks and you will be around the $90 range quickly for a dinner for 2. This wouldn’t be a problem except the food is barely average at best. Food was lukewarm, both fish dishes (we had Mahi and Sea Bass) were Very Overdone and dried out bad! We didn’t even eat half of it, we didn’t send it back or cause a scene or anything. We also saw several other people returning their burnt chicken dishes, which is why we chose fish to begin with. Speaking of, the service is mediocre, staff halfway acts resentful you’re there bothering them. Place on the water is a beautiful setting, but I’ll never go back and I will definitely tell anyone in the New Bern area to avoid this money trap.
First time visiting the place and I’m impress with the place, location, food and staff. Definitely will visit and try the different food on the menu.
Calamari was excellent ! I had the fish tacos and several cocktails. Ate on the deck which was nice
We were seated on the deck and the view was spectacular. Everyone loved their meals and the service couldn't have been better. Since everyone has made New Bern their new permanent home, we will certainly be back.
Persimmon food, staff and location NEVER disappoints!!!
It is a beautiful place with nice waitstaff. My vegan dish was fantastic but the other dishes on the table fell flat.
Definitely review the menus before going for dinner, not many choices. Food was not worth the price you will pay. I think if I ever go back I would stick to just ordering appetizers.
It was our anniversary. After touring the town, we wanted to take a break and have a drink by the river, so we chose Persimmons. We got drinks at the bar and went outside to sit. There were 15-20 tables and only two were taken. We sat at a table for 2. We planned to order an appetizer, but a waitress never came by. Then, some woman from the staff comes by and says “These tables are only for customers who are eating. We’ll let it go this time, but next time sit in the other seats by the rail.” Totally unnecessary at 3 PM. We won’t be back.
Almost always a very good experience at Persimmons. Had made a reservation, did not have to wait. It was busy and I felt a little rushed like they were trying to turn the tables a bit too quickly. Trying to have a leisurely conversation with my fellow diner over drinks who I had not seen in some time but kept pushing for order. Food was good, but had to repeatedly request ketchup and tartar sauce for my fish and chips. Was half done with the meal before tartar sauce arrived. Still would recommend to anyone, anytime.
Great service. Little long to get seated even with reservation, but just had a drink at their bar. All good in my opinion. I will be back.
Great atmosphere and views. The food was excellent. The tomato pie was amazing. Very enjoyable evening.
We got there right on time for 715 reservation. We were seated about 15 minutes later.
Very disappointing the noise level for the better part of our meal it was almost too loud to each other talk. Tables very close together along a booth-like bench. Our server-Love
Was very prompt and seemed to be however in somewhat of a hurry to get us out of there.Overall probably my least favorite experience at the restaurant in the eight years we've lived here. Perhaps they just had a bad night
Food should look good. Smell good. Taste good. This place didn't even get past #1.
Never lets us down. Been to Persimmons several times and always loved. Great dining room and outdoor dining layouts. Food is consistently good. Plenty of parking. Beautiful views. A fantastic go-to.
I brought my friends from PA here and as usual Persimmons did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was delicious
The food was amazing. Coming from the Boston area I was hoping this would be on the same level. It was even better! Our meal was on the same level with many Boston restaurants but at lower prices! Our waitress Sara was the best. Very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a breezy beautiful evening so we sat outside. The place was packed on a Saturday night so I highly recommend reservations. I am very picky about my bloody marys, this one was excellent. The calamari appetizer is a must try. We also enjoyed an angel hair pasta with scallops and the sirloin with crab cake. They were fabulous. Although we were stuffed we could not leave with out trying the brown butter cake. So glad we did! We will definitely be going back...as much as possible!
Great food and great services. I will recommend others.
Great time at Persimmon’s! We went on a Friday evening and sat outside. There was a great breeze so it wasn’t too hot.
We went at peak hours so service was a little slow but that’s understandable given how busy our server was, and he was very friendly. Food was delicious, although the angel hair pasta entree was mediocre, everything else was great.
Would definitely come back!
Flies when eating on the deck are a given. Service was great. Ambience with breeze and river view was excellent. Fish tacos tasted good but the taco shells got soggy fast.
Came for brunch on Friday morning but was dismayed to find out brunch is only on Sundays. Nowhere on their website nor on their menu do they mention brunch being only available on Sunday. Food was honestly not that great. Had the shrimp & scallop pasta as well as the crusted Mahi. The Mahi was flavorless and the arugula in the shrimp pasta had stems that were uncut, making it hard to eat. Also they do not have an espresso machine, just plain drip coffee. Would only come for the view, not worth coming back for the food.
This was a great experience! The food was amazing and the drinks and service were great. The people that worked there were friendly and accommodating. We sat outside on the water and the views were just perfect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
The waiter was very good. Appetizers were delivered quickly and were very good. Dinner showed up almost an hour later and every meal was cold. Decent flavor. The outdoor entertainment was overbearing and made conversation difficult even in an outdoor setting. It came highly recommended. I will assume we just caught them on an off night.
We love the atmosphere. Food was delicious. The sweet corn pimento hushpuppies were the best.
Shrimp and grits were unique and fabulous! The fried green tomatoes an instant favorite! Nice spin on local traditions.
Wait staff were grumps. Food portions were small for the price, but tasted good. Menu online was not the menu at the restaurant. the view upstairs was pretty.
