Haven't been here for years, which is regrettable. We'll be back soon....excellent food, attentive if somewhat mechanical service, and nearby. The ambiance and decor is zero, but the food more than compensates for that.

I have gone to Persimmon twice; once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was outstanding and the service was excellent.

I love the sunset dining. It's nice to be able to get a 3 course meal with both reasonable portions, and a reasonable price. It's particularly suited when you're going somewhere afterwards (in our case, we were going to the Kennedy Center) and need to eat early and don't want to carry around leftovers.

We both had salads, filet, and the creme brulee, and everything was perfect, but there were plenty of other delicious looking choices on the menu.

Persimmon is truly a neighborhood gem. Try it!

Persimmon continues to be a great neighborhood bar with excellent food, especially the crab cakes. However, the service was uneven on a recent Monday night with less than half the restaurant full. We had to get up and find a server to order dessert. And, couldn’t they add some color to the walls or table cloths to make the interior more pleasing? It isn’t cheap so diners deserve a more complete experience.

Food was wonderful, but decor was drab. I️ would be more likely to come back with friends if it looked nicer.

We went on a whim on a Friday night and had the mushroom bisque then split the tuna and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. It ws all fabulous! Waitress was friendly and attentive, and drinks were very nice.

Terrific lobster rolls! But we were there on a Sunday night with a large, noisy family nearby -- and the room does not absorb sound well, so our ears did. Still enjoyed a tasty meal ,and we will return as we have many times.

The food was very tasty and the atmosphere friendly. Our first cocktails were not to our liking at all, and the management recognized that, gave us wine (which was wonderful) and said no more. It was my first real meal there and I look forward to returning.

Persimmon provided the perfect spot for a pre-theater dinner before attending show at nearby Round House Theater. If you arrive before 6 PM, you can have three-course special for $36 -- appetizer, main dish and dessert. Just the right amount of food -- well prepared and elegantly presented. We loved everything from lobster bisque to crab cakes and sinfully delicious profiteroles!

Three of us ordered the special, one in our group ordered the crab cakes. We all agreed that the food was good, however, the portions were relatively small. The crab cake dinner was satisfactory in size and also good. Service was very good and the ambience was comfortable.

We Went to Permissons for my wife’s birthday. We have been patrons of this restaurant for years so we know the menu well. The dish we ordered (crab cakes) had a burnt side dish (corn hash). When we pointed this out, Server got an attitude and told us this was its normal appearance/flavor. My wife knows this dish well as it’s her favorite and didn’t appreciate being lied to. When pushed, Server offered additional mashed potatoes to replace the burnt side but acted as if she was doing us a favor. She later told me she would “comp” the extra mashed potatoes (adding insult to injury). I asked for the managers assistance but she was no help. Manager Blamed a new chef and a made a weak apology. No effort was made to make us happy or correct the burnt dish. We ate quickly, paid the tab (without a tip for the unprofessional server) and departed angry. We will never eat at Persimmon again after this terrible experience. Not recommended!

What a delightful meal we had at Persimmon! The food is inventive but not overly so--the main goal seems to be to highlight the quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere is very nice but maybe a little too loud for a comfortably quiet conversation. It's not as noisy as some restaurants, but that may not be saying much given current trends! The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive.

I've been going to Persimmon for several years. It has maintained high quality and good service, even though the menu has changed and continues to change. My one problem is the noise level--it is VERY loud.

First time to Persimmon, and will DEFINITELY come back. The food is the star of the show there. Tasted both the short rib and salmon with pesto risotto. Both were EXCELLENT. Molten lava cake for dessert was also great. The enviance needs a little work, but if a basic please with simply outstanding food is your fancy then check them out.

Persimmon is a gem in Bethesda. I've never had a bad meal there. This time I had their special which was Rockfish over a bed of ratatouille and my girlfriend had the halibut, which was the daily fish. Both were excellent. We split the chocolate pudding for dessert...also excellent and big enough for two. My other favorite is the wasabi crusted oysters for an appetizer and the pecan crusted rack of lamb for dinner. The tuna appetizer is also quite good. Oh, and the passion fruit martini was delightful. They have a small bar which has a really good happy hour.

I went to Persimmon to celebrate my birthday. When we entered the waiter that seated us was very dry and he seemed hurried to seat is that he didn't say enjoy your meal. We also asked to be moved because he gave us a table we would have been uncomfortable as in too tight. Our actual server was very nice and the food was delicious. The restaurant is small so it started to feel a bit claustrophobic when it was filling up with other patrons. It also got really loud. Not sure if I will return because the ambience wasn't for me.

I have been enjoying dinner at Persimmon a few times a month for the past year and the food has been consistently delicious and the service friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The recommendations for wines and menu items have been helpful. The restaurant has been
very gracious about splitting an entre without a plate charge as some of their offerings are
quite generous.

The food was very good. My only complaint was the size of the lobster rolls and the price that was charged. They were tiny and the price was high - and the waiter did not even tell me the price beforehand. It was not on the menu.

The service and food at Persimmon were outstanding. I would recommend it to anyone eating in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. The only drawback was the noise level when the restaurant was full. We could hear each other, but the background noise was loud. We lingered a long time over dinner, dessert, and coffee, so as patrons left the noise level diminished. I hadn't eaten at Persimmon in some time -- the food was absolutely delicious! I will definitely go back soon.

i really was not impressed. tuna was nicely done but not special. oyster appetizer was bland. molten cake was a winner. lively environment (loud). server was attentive, but after the appetizer, our table was a mess with sauce and it was not cleaned up. food only for 2 people was about $90 (not inc. tip/alcohol) and I left still hungry. I am not a big eater at all. parking was easy in the surface lot behind the center. note that street parking is 1 hour.

Sadly, we don't dine at Persimmon as often as we should. It's been a while since we've been here, but I'm happy to report that EVERYTHING was as good as ever! The food & service were outstanding, and we don't have a single complaint. There was one minor blip during our dinner, and I can honestly report that it was handled immediately, proactively & in a professional manner. After tonight, I don't think it will take as long for us to return for our next meal.

It was quiet on a Sunday evening when we arrived but just started to pick up. The filet mignon was outstanding. A perfect combination with the mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach and crunchy onions on top. The dishes were beautiful too. Beet and goat cheese salad and creme brûlée for dessert really hit the spot. We will definitely go back again.
