Reliably good food. Went late Tuesday and felt we were rushed out
Enjoyed returning to this restaurant; we were lucky enough to arrive in time for early dining 3 course special.
Our tuna avocado tartare and wedge salads were very good as appetizers. Desserts were delicious, especially the NY style cheesecake.
My Bouillabaise entree was ordinary. While the fish ingredients were fresh and not overcooked, it tasted like an unremarkable fish stew. Not sure i would order it again. That’s my only complaint.
We have been eating at Persimmon, in its varioue iterations, for years. We took out-of-town friends there for dinner, and they (foodies) were quite impressed. Impressive use of ingredients, reasonable prices.
Very good food and very nice wait staff.
The smoked trout spring rolls are completely amazing!
Persimmon usually has good food. But the fish we had was overcooked, and especially at the price, it was not worthy of the restaurant. Service was good and waiters and staff were helpful. But I am always disappointed when a chef ruins a piece of fish.
Food as good as ever but the service was a problem. We weren’t told that an item on the menu was not available until after we ordered it even though the waiter knew when telling us about the specials. Also, the dessert we ordered was taking too long. When we asked the waiter, he said we selected an item that took awhile. It was only later, after asking about the dessert again, that the manager finally said that there was a mixup in the kitchen. We should have been told the real reason right away.
I always have the lobster rolls. This tome they were a bit under filled ( for$26). Could also use a bit of tasty homemade mayo or sauce. Accompanying salad was mediocre - tasteless. But I still like it
Good tasty food, relaxed ambiance, excellent service!
I have patronized Persimmon on and off for many years and always loved the ambience in addition to enjoying their food. I cannot remember my last visit but I was dismayed on this occasion by the new rather bare white walls, the fluorescent lights in the ceiling and the lack of tablecloth on the tables. Altogether the changes give this previously charming restaurant the feel of a cafeteria and we will not be back, despite the excellent although somewhat pricey food.
Friendly & efficient. Food was excellent. A very good experience.
Always good food. We had fish of the day and duck breast, which was cooked exactly as requested. Half price bottles of wine make it even better. Except for one loud customer, very good noise level.
Love Persimmon. Great Food. Great Service. Wonderful Staff!!
I have always eaten well at Persimmon. The atmosphere is casual, but not sloppy. The service is very good and the food is always good. I usually have the lobster rolls but this time had crab cakes. Could have had more lump crab in them, rather a bit too much filling, but the taste was good.
The food is excellent. They really know how to do fish. Our catch-of-the-day rockfish and rare tuna were perfect. The wine list has a good price range and is full of interesting choices. Small size of the dining room helps keep noise down
Food was delicious and service was excellent.
The food is very good. Serving proportions are good too.
Service is excellent. As far as I could see, it was just one server, but he is a real pro, even though he is very busy, we did not wait for anything.
The decor is not attractive and rather cold. the wooden chairs are quickly uncomfortable and the few booths are old and although spacious, not inviting or cozy. Definitely not a restaurant for a date. There is nothing sexy about this place. you go for a good meal and leave to go have dessert or after diner drinks somewhere else.
Celebrated my stepdad's birthday at Persimmon and it was phenomenal. The empanada appetizer was delicious. Crisp, golden brown, flaky exterior with juicy, impeccably season chicken. Highly recommend. Apparently, the stuffing changes regularly but I'm sure they are all delicious. For entree I ordered the short ribs which melted in my mouth. They were paired perfectly with the polenta. The rest of the table ordered crab cakes, filet mignon, and lamb chops and everyone said their dishes was great!
food is always delicious and nicely presented. We always ask for Zikki (sp?); he is a wonderful server and well-informed.
A great find, never knew it existed. Very good food, more than a bistro, quiet with a nice ambiance. The service was excellent. Happy to find it. Will most definitely eat there soon.
our food was delicious. We all cleaned our plates.
Our waitress Tanya....was attentive and delightful.
We had a great meal!
I met friends for lunch and we wanted everything on the menu. We settled for empanadas (very good), steak frites (excellent and generous), and halibut (awesome). For dessert we shared a chocolate pie martini, which we all loved. It is a little noisy, but more energetic than obnoxious.
One of our favorite restaurants. Appetizers are particularly good and varied. Tonya is an outstanding server.
The food is good but the venue is charmless. There is nothing 'soft' about being there and all around us people were straining to hear one another. It would be so easy for this to be improved so that the ambiance matched the food.
We had two dinners. My companion ordered the tuna which he enjoyed. I ordered the special, the brook trout on a bed of spinach, and it was just terrible. Over cooked and dried out. I
considered sending it back but we had a curtain to make. I had eaten at Persimmon once before and enjoyed a nice fresh salad lunch. So I would do lunch again. But not dinner.
As per usual, the Persimmon did not fail to deliver again this past weekend. Their "tasting menu" is unique (at least to me) in that they allow you to choose anything on the menu to make up your three selections-- appetizer, main course and dessert. Service was prompt and friendly, and diners get the impression that the staff really enjoy working there. If I only lived closer this would be my #1 neighborhood hangout. Excellent in every respect.
Excellent food, both in taste and presentation. Great service.
The food here is really delicious. Since we were there before a show, and eating early, we took advantage of their "sunset dining" which allows you a starter, entree, and dessert for $36. We both had the lamb chops, which were outstanding. My friend started with the onion soup, which she liked very much. I had the smoked trout spring rolls, with a lovely peanut sauce - yum. Our desserts were the apple crisp and the molten chocolate cake - both excellent. The place was very busy, even early on a week night, so reservations are advised. A parking lot in back is very handy. Great place for a delicious meal in Bethesda.
Tuna tartare is one of my favorite appetizers, and no restaurant in the area does it better than Persimmon. It consists of a layer of chunks of tuna on top of which rests a layer of chunks of guacamole. That preserves the flavors much better than mashing each of the ingredients.
The bistro beet salad with chicken is also very good. Persimmon is one of the best restaurants in the area. Four stars is a high rating for me; I have given five stars to only a dozen or so restaurants in the country.
While I am not a fan of the decor, the tables by the large windows bring in much natural light.
Solid food, always good. We eat here several times a year.
Excellent food and excellent service this restaurant has gotten better and better
My sister and I went to Persimmon for lunch. I had the bouillabaisse, my sister had the crab cake sandwich. Both were very good.
Food is always very good. Mostly, it is an ambience that is good for conversation. The best restaurant in Bethesda!
The staff went out of their way to welcome us and checked continually on our satisfaction.
Entry was excellent. The dessert was mediocre. The service was very good. It is not inexpensive.
Have driven by this place a million times but would have never stopped. It's a great find right in the neighborhood. Highly recommend it.
Persimmon consistently serves excellent meals that make you want to return, again-and-again.
Way too noisy for an intimate dinner at 7 pm. We could hear each other across the table by 8 pm. Food was very good but not exceptional for the price. Service was excellent.
The ambiance is spoiled by the overhead recess LED lights, therefore no cozy atmosphere. Branzinni grilled fish with rice noodles was greasy, lacked taste and did not look appetizing. My friend's Bouillabaisse seemed messy, lacked aroma. Other friend's fish dish was also disappointing she mentioned.
Dessert of profiteroles was way too sugary, cream puffs were old. Warm Apple crips also too sugary, too soggy.
Very disappointing overall. Service was ok. Would not recommend this place at all!
I made a reservation for 8:15 and when we arrived the place was mobbed obviously overbooked big time..the manager suggested we wait but I explained we had tickets to Blues Alley at 10 and couldnt wait lond 15 minutes later we left..i told the manager it was wrong to overbook and he snapped at me arrrogantly Good Night. have been there many times but wont be there for a long time to come.
