There were 7 of us including kids, although there are no kid menus and not specially kid friendly options in my opinion.
Choice of dishes is reasonable and not overly intimidating - fish and meat options.
The dishes were all delicious and well prepared, the wait was just right -20 to 25 mns.
There was a noisy large group right behind us but thankfully they left just after we ordered (although we were also a large-ish group, we are aware of our fellow diners).
Service was attentive but overly brisk.
We will be returning.
Always great. Nice happy hour. Small plates or full meal. Order a few apps for a good selection
I love this restaurant. From appetizers to dessert everything is great.
Service was just fair. My duck was very tough. I asked for a steak knife and still couldn't cut it.
Excellent food-well presented. Varied menu. Attentive staff.
Quiet neighborhood place with great food and a casual atmosphere
We have been celebrating our wedding anniversary every year for many many many years now. Tonight was our 25th and I get the rack of lamb every time. I get it with the setup from the fillet (mashed potatoes, spinach and onion strings). It was great as usual, best in the area. Highly recommend for a tasty meal.
Adequate. Food is fine, service is friendly. But the place never comes together. Their other restaurant is much better, I think. I don't mind going here, but after three tries in the last few years I think I'll find elsewhere to dine. So much better available in Bethesda.
Great food and service
The food was delicious and the ambience was terrific, but my purpose for writing this is to commend the service. We had a reservation for group of six that unexpectedly became a party of seven. This is not a large restaurant and it was busy on a Saturday night, but the uncomplaining staff worked quickly to accommodate us while maintaining their smiles and positive attitudes. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive throughout the meal. We had a wonderful evening at Persimmon and will definitely go back.
A childhood friend and I had a pre-movie dinner of the seared scallop + orange + fennel + arugula salad with a glass of sauvignon blanc. Perfect for a warm summer night.
Don’t understand why I didn’t receive points for making reservation on open table
Persimmon has terrific food at reasonable prices....and amazingly consistent.....and they will work with you if you need special consideration. Their daily seafood special is generally wonderful, as are their lamb chops and bouillabaisse....this is our go to restaurant.
A great place in the neighborhood for a very good meal
I came here with a friend for her birthday. Every staff member that saw me greeted me and asked if I needed assistance. Very personable, friendly staff. The food was great and the ambiance was lovely. My friend and I had a great time! Our waiter Zachy was awesome!
Great wait staff. Delicious food. A bit loud.
Excellent restaurant for any occasion. Never had bad service or food.
A little disappointed to be told they were overbooked and we might have to eat at the bar. We did eventually get a table though.
First time. Great neighborhood find!
Everything was, as always, absolutely wonderful.
We dine at Persimmon every three or four months, and can always depend on great food, and friendly and efficient service. Wide-ranging selection of appetizers and entrees. Short ribs and tuna are among our favorite entrees, but really, you can't go wrong. If you have room for dessert, chocolate molten cake is amazing, and large enough to share.
I thought the dinner was very well prepared and delicious. I would highly recommend it. The flavors of the salmon was somehow enhanced -- maybe the kind of salt -- or maybe just wonderful herbs and seasonings. The vegetables were also delicious.
Halibut and Salmon were outstanding. Quiet enough to catch up with friends and have an enjoyable evening.
Had a wonderful server and the food was amazing. Had my husbands favorite dish as a special
Food was prepared perfectly and service was impeccable!
Loved it! Delicious and absolutely worth the price!
We were tired and stressed when we arrived and relaxed and happy when we left!
Persimmon restaurant is simply a treasure in our neighborhood. the staff is friendly, very knowledgeable and lead by the host of hosts, Phil Solomon, who has been with them for a decade on short of a quick sabbatical when he was recruited away by Black Restaurant Group. The food at Persimmon is tops and the wine selection fabulous! Tuesday nights are half price bottle nights so book a reservation early!
Excellent crabcake sandwich!0
A mere shadow of its former self. Average quality food and the service lacked warmth.
As always the food and the setting were good. However, service from our waitress was poor. My dinner companion and I were asked multiple times to order additional or larger items in her effort to maximize what we spent. After three or four efforts to move us up the menu (appetizers to entrees, one appetizer to more appetizers, one drink to another drink, ordering from the menu to the tasting menu —“because appetizer portions would be too small for us”), she ignored us for the rest of the night. Persimmon should teach Tanya how to provide customer service with the emphasis on service, unless the restaurant itself is desperate to upcharge customers. I hope that’s not the case.
Tanya our waitress was fantastic at helping us narrow down the options. Food was amazing and good wine list. Tuna tartar appetizer was one of the best I’ve had. The scallops and risotto was flavorful and cooked to perfection.
The mussels, scallops, chicken and seared tuna were excellent. The oysters were somewhat disappointing. Desserts were delicious. Service was great. Would go again.
Both my wife and I enjoyed the dinner, both having the seafood selections. Quite good, both prepared with a combination of ingredients and textures to satisfy any gourmet aficionado.
Service was fine. Noise level is high and decor and ambiance is average.
Reliably good food. Went late Tuesday and felt we were rushed out
Enjoyed returning to this restaurant; we were lucky enough to arrive in time for early dining 3 course special.
Our tuna avocado tartare and wedge salads were very good as appetizers. Desserts were delicious, especially the NY style cheesecake.
My Bouillabaise entree was ordinary. While the fish ingredients were fresh and not overcooked, it tasted like an unremarkable fish stew. Not sure i would order it again. That’s my only complaint.
We have been eating at Persimmon, in its varioue iterations, for years. We took out-of-town friends there for dinner, and they (foodies) were quite impressed. Impressive use of ingredients, reasonable prices.
Very good food and very nice wait staff.
The smoked trout spring rolls are completely amazing!
