Bring an appetite for great food & wine!
Let's Gather & Eat!
I have only been here twice but on both occasions with individuals with particular dietary restrictions. On both occasions staff have exhibited ample patience in accommodating those needs and addressing any concerns. The food is always top notch and it is truly a hidden gem (or at least I would like to think so). My only disappointment is not being able to have room for dessert. Thank you for such spectacular and attentive service!
It was a chilly rainy Saturday evening and we were greeted with such warmth by the first person we saw. Didn't get her name, but we decided to sit at the bar just because my wife and I like sitting at nice bars. Our greeter seated us and set us up so nicely. The bartender was knowledgeable, timely and super nice. Food was really good, and came out in a nice amount of time. We had a great time and will tell everyone to go.
My husband(a professional musician) and I have conflicting schedules that leave us little time for conversation over a leisurely dinner. Persimmon to the rescue! The food is just to our tastes, the wines are great and not budget breakers. A home away from home ... yum and thanks!
Excellent. New decor. Always the best food in Bethesda
The food, atmosphere and service at Persimmon was exceptional. This stellar restaurant manages to straddle the fine and delicate balance between a high-quality dining experience combined with a relaxing and unpretentious ambience.
I usually love Persimmon for its small neighborhood ambiance and typically excellent food but on Saturday night the food wasn't as good as usual. The beet salad had more greens than beets and had too much dressing and the fish in the bouillabaisse, a dish I haven't ordered in the past, was too dry to eat. If you go stick with the standards that are typically excellent (scallops, duck and tuna).
Persimmon is a great restaurant!! The food is excellent, well-priced, and service is lovely.
My first visit and not my last. The service, food, and location all call for a return visit.
A very pleasant place to meet friends and have a quiet conversation. The location is good, parking is conveniently located behind the restaurant and the menu is varied. The staff is pleasant and efficient and the food excellent.
Great vibe, great food and awesome service!!
As always, my recent dinner was absolutely delicious. I especially like the salmon and catch of the day dishes which are always wonderful and very well prepared with the fish perfectly moist. Service is friendly and attentive. The only drawback might be that the noise level on weekend evenings is challenging for those wanting to have a conversation with friends. If this bothers you, do try Persimmon for their great lunch menu. You won’t regret it! By far, my favorite restaurant in Bethesda.
The place is small but the server acted as if there were tons of people keeping him busy. He took our order, served our food politely, but never checked to see if we were okay. I won’t return.
You can't go wrong with the fish -- always perfectly fresh and delicious.
Nice neighborhood restaurant with surprisingly expansive and delicious menu and full bar. Generous portions. A place where friends can have a conversation without shouting.
Persimmon uses very good ingredients and prepares them simply to preserve the natural flavors. This is especially true of the seafood. The tuna tartare is the best in the area because both the tuna and the guacamole are cut into small chunks, rather than mashed; then laid down in two distinct flavor layers. A small amount of seaweed adds yet a third flavor. The other tuna dishes are also very good, as are the salmon dishes. The list of wines by the glass is short, but well chosen and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not offer espresso. I am not a fan of the amount of brown on the floor and chairs, but love the tables by the large windows. The service is usually very good, but can be inattentive at times. When going for lunch, I choose to go early (as early as 11:00) to avoid the noisy parties that often arrive after twelve.
It’s a regular “go to” for special occasions and never disappoints.
This was our first visit to Persimmon. We were told the food was excellent and crowed very millenial. The latter was not the case but the food was very good. I had the crab cakes with mashed potatoes small place with hard surfaces. All in all I'd go back but as far as price, it's more of an $80-$85/couple food, not $120/couple, including glass of wine.
Strong as usual
Food, Service, Ambience were terrific. The appetizer and main course specials were spectacular. A favorite restaurant of ours for many years!!
Neighborhood restaurants can surprise and delight. Persimmon is a gem; the seafood we selected was prepared with care and combined a variety of vegetables and seasonings that were unique and delicious. The service was excellent; you were made to feel at home among friends.
Persimmon is still one of our local favorites. The fish of the day was halibut, and it was perfect, as was the sesame crusted tuna. Crab and avocado tartare also beautiful. We had hoped that after 9:00 would be less noisy but it took a while to quiet down. For this review, I have to take it down a notch because the trout spring rolls were not what they used to be. Cocktails were delicious, but they were out of our first choices for wines by the glass. Service was excellent.
Fantastic food and waiter. The lighting is a bit too much but otherwise it was perfect.
My Branzino was delicious. Only complaint was my husband and I split the profiteroles for dessert and the tops were burnt 😕
Lovely lunch restaurant. I had the Bouillabaisse. The others has Cobb Salad, and salmon with greens. Everything was delicious. One of us asked for the frites that came with the mussels because she didn't want mussels. They were spectacular. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - the way they are supposed to be.
Waiter was rushed. Got one order wrong. Had a rude somewhat unfriendly demeanor.
Food was outstanding!
Loud, loud, loud. Spotty service, stark environment. Food was good and good value.
As always, Persimmon and it's staff and food were great! We always enjoy ourselves when we go. I had the salmon w/pesto risotto. Excellent! Highly recommend.
A great neighborhood restaurant that always has good food and great service. They are very accommodating if you want something that isn't on the menu. I had their special - which was 2 small lobster rolls - which were delicious. I continue to go back there with new people.
Amazing as always! Love Persimmon!
Dinner was great. The restaurant looks like it needs an overhaul. Table linens at minimum would be a big improvement. Have always liked Persimmon but they need to step up the decor or they will lose customers.
Persimmon has always been our favorite go to restaurant for special occasions. The food this time was mediocre. But the major problem was the molten chocolate cake that had to be sent back......it was inedible. Tasted terribly salty and no molten chocolate! Was told by the waitress that the chef used salt instead of sugar and they just had thrown them all away. I feel that we at least deserved an apology from the manager. Very disappointing.
Food is always terrific at Persimmon. Service is excellent. Nothing formal or stuffy here. Ambience is not fancy at all; Persimmon is a friendly, casual, neighborhood place with outstanding food. Public parking lot in the rear is super convenient and free on the weekends. We like this restaurant more than any other in Bethesda which has a great many places to eat.
We were somewhat reluctant to try this restaurant again, because a number of years ago, when we went there, it seemed somewhat mediocre. However, we were very pleasantly surprised by how good it was this time. We still would probably only go here for a special occasion, given that the prices are on the high side.
We were there early (6:30) on a Tuesday night, so it was pretty quiet.
We shared the antipasto with a half off bottle of wine to start. Our dinners were lobster rolls and crabcakes. We were too full to order dessert.
Everything was delicious and we will be returning.
A great neighborhood spot with someone for every taste and appetite
1st time at Persimmon to celebrate a birthday. Enjoyed the food from the appetizer to the dessert. Server was very attentive, energetic, friendly and fast.
This is our favorite place for our anniversary and it was wonderful as always. Great service, delicious food and a wonderful experience. We got there early enough for the 3 course menu and it was all as terrific as it always is.
Our waiter Ash was excellent and he made a great martini. Food was awesome.
Excellent service and food was amazing...from the empanada appetizers to the special fish of the day entree to the delicious profiteroles for dessert.
