Persian Room Ratings and Reviews
Our first time here and I don't know why we waited so long. Delicious food from beginning to end with so much food there was another meal to enjoy at home the next day for each of us. We'll definitely return -- this time I'm going to try a traditional meal.
My only critisim is the wait staff needs more training in how to handle their job this otherwise classy restaurant. They acted more like they were tending tables in a fast food place.
The food was authenic and delicious. I lived in Iran for 5 years and know the food.
Dining at the Persian Room is always a treat. They get very busy and sometimes the service is rather slow. I recommend reservation, and even then you may wait 10 to 20 minutes to be seated. Our last visit service was very slow - we waited 30 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive - it was spectacular as always, so not really a big deal. Also recommend a light cloak to fight the sometimes chilly temperature. Every entree I have had at this place is outstanding. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Scottsdale area.
Main entree: Zereshk polo with chicken. Basmati saffron rice with barberries was exquisite. Chicken with sauce was also superb and reminded me of some of my favorite Indian dishes. Shirazi salad was very fresh but not as flavorful as I expected. I also ordered "Homemade yogurt drink" which did not taste at ALL like I expected but I was intrigued by the mixture of yogurt, mint and spices (including salt evidently). All servings were huge so I had a lovely lunch of leftovers the next day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The food was different from American cuisine, which is why we went. We’ve been trying different cuisines. We were not disappointed. Our waiter was very helpful in how to enjoy each one of the dishes we ordered. There was one thing on the appetizer platter that I didn’t particularly care for. It was rather pungent, but at least I tried it. Other than that, it was a great experience. I had picked our menu, before we went so that we could sample several different things. I had ordered rice, as one of the sides. I wasn’t aware that each one of our entrees came with rice. The portions are fairly large, so you won’t go hungry. A+++
I was disappointed in the food. It was unremarkable except for the preparation which was terrific. Half the plate was fluffy rice and the lamb shishkabob which was perfectly done. The food was bland, or so I thought. I have traveled extensively in the world and perhaps I have different tastes but again, bland, no spices.
I loved the Persian Room! I have never tried Persian food before and took my weekend in Phoenix to give it a whirl! I highly recommend it. The service was friendly and helpful with reccomendations and suggestions. I enjoyed my food and the Persian ice cream. It was also beautiful inside-a gorgeous space.
We had reserved a slot for 7:15 pm but I felt the wait upon arriving was lengthy for a phone ahead reservation. There was no comfortable waiting area as such, we congregated in a narrow area in front of reception constantly having to squeeze up to allow waiting staff and other customers to flow through. I have seen modest establishments with more comfortable waiting space.
We love this place and frequent often. Food is great and portions are huge. Service is usually excellent but can slow a bit when busy. It can get noisy and there can be a slight wait on busy evenings, even with a reservation. Ambiance is old world and due with a little updating. But the food is great so it's no big deal.
