The yogurt and cucumber blended with a little mint is made exceedingly well and is an ideal cool compliment to Persepolis’ rounds of Pita & Barbari bread. I haven't had much experience with Persian food and was delighted to happen upon this restaurant.
Very much enjoyed the food and intend to return to sample some more of their menu. (Since NYC has sooo many restaurants, I rarely return to a restaurant, so this is a compliment to them :) )
Every time I eat here I wonder why I don't come more often. The food was soooo good and excellent service. I like ordering family style and sharing. Here's what we shared: the salad trio and the yoghurt trio for appetizer. It comes with plenty of warm bread. I also love the kashk bademjan, which is an eggplant appetizer. For main course, we had the marinated chicken breast kabob and ground beef kabob, with both white rice and cherry rice. We ordered sides of grilled onion and the torshi, which is pickled vegetables. We also ordered the fesenjan on tahdig - crispy rice. Fesenjan is very popular with Americans who eat Persian food. It's made with ground walnuts and pomegranate and has chicken. What a delicious feast! My tip: eat very little earlier in the day, because everything is so good!
The four of us loved the food. There are various kinds of rice. I had the one with sour cherries. I loved my lamb shank. We had a trio of eggplant purees , each one different and a trio of salads. The waiter suggested crispy rice with cooked herbs and fava beans on top that is not on the menu but Persians know to order. We loved that. Prices were gentle.
Honestly, this was one of the best meals I've ever had. The food is absolutely incredible, from the eggplant starters to the yogurt with beets, to the main dishes with the tastiest rice I have ever eaten. This is real, authentic Persian cuisine, which surprised me in its breadth of flavors and ingredients. I went into it thinking it was going to be similar to Lebanese food, but it was so much more than that. This is real, ethnic cuisine, and worth the trip uptown for a meal. Absolutely delicious, super reasonably priced (which was a nice surprise after several very expensive meals), and excellent service. Order as much food as you can, and share it with everyone at your table!
This is authentic Persian cooking in a lovely restaurant with great service and ambiance . It is one of my favorite restaurants in the city and I am a well -travel foodie. The cello kebab is excellent as are all the koreshts. And make sure to have the tadik with one of the koresht. I highly recommend it.
Great Persian food. Has all of the staples (e.g., kabobs, stews) plus a wider variety of basmati rices than other Persian restaurants. Appetizer salads and dips were fresh and flavorful. Very friendly and attentive staff. One of the people in my party who had never had Persian food before said it was some of the best food she's ever had and will definitely come back.
Good food, nice setting. However at the end of the meal we requested that we take the remaining half of our meals home. On the way out I realized they never brought a bag. I went back in and inquired. Without "we're sorry" they said the busboy discarded the remainder of our order saying he "misunderstood"We had to go so I didn't bother in asking for the manager but how could our common request (the portions are copious) have been misunderstood?
