We look forward to seeing you!
This was so much better than I expected, it was an impulse decision made by googling something like “middle eastern food near me”. In general my husband likes MEAT, I like things I haven’t tried before, new flavor combinations, rose-flavored things, fancy tea. Both of us left happy.
Great food, great service! It's a hidden gem! One of my favorite places to eat in NY.
Delicious, as always. Accomodating staff. Bustling on a Friday night but we were not rushed out.
Good appetizers but main dish chicken stew was not so tasty.
This is one of my favorites and I do recommend it to my friends. The food is unusual (not too many places to get Persian food in NYC) and always delicious. Appetizers are large enough to share (we usually get 2 for four people - I recommend the Yogurt Trio, but was saddened to see that their eggplant trio is no longer on the menu). Their Fessenjaan (chicken stew made with walnuts and pomegranate) is out of this world, and my husband is always happy with his kebabs. There are three choices of rice (I usually opt for the rice with sour cherries, but the rice with orange is also lovely). I ate there most recently at lunch and their Price Fixe was very reasonable ($19 for two courses). White table cloths on on the tables (I don't like to eat at a place that doesn't have them) and their wait staff is polite and helpful. My only reservation about the place is that at night, when it is mobbed, the noise level can be difficult.
We are regular customers and have never had a bad meal.
Lamb barg (main dish) was ordered by 3 people. Very uneven in quality--some of it was tough and some was tender. This dish was consistently excellent in the past.
We loved the food here. We go to NYC 2-3 times a year, and we will return to this restaurant, which is the ultimate compliment, as there is so much good food in New York. Loved the Saffron Chicken, and my wife loved the sour cherry rice. Delicious pomegranate martini.
Good authentic Persian food. Portions are not over the top.
Great Persian food and service is attentive. Would highly recommend it.
Our favorite! Best service
Always wonderful, authentic food and great service
Excellent food. Lamb was tender and tasty.
Good food great service generous portions. Will dine here again
Super delicious dining experience. Was with my brother-in-law who is from Iran and he absolutely loved it. The owner is so warm and welcoming. The restaurant is lovely, super cozy and had great energy. Would absolutely go back.
Drove from Mass to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Was not disappointed at all. Food was fabulous. Service was great. We both enjoyed it
We make a point to visit this restaurant annually. The food is so wonderfully scented. My favorites are the eggplant trio appetizer, lamb barg kabobs, the Khoresht Fesenjan which is a chicken stew w pomegranate and ground walnuts. Service is swift. Tables are closely set, so space is tight, but noise level is okay.
I arrived at Persepolis 7:23pm for a 7:30pm reservation on Valentine's day. The manager told me there was no reservation under my name, I must have made a mistake, and he turned me away as they were too busy. My Open Table app on my phone clearly showed the reservation. I scrambled to recover a valentine's dinner as all restaurants were full. Upon sitting down across town at a borderline fastfood restaraunt I wrote a complaint to Open Table. Open Table promptly responded, "You did indeed have a reservation and our records show Persepolis seated you at 7:20pm." The next day I telephoned the restaurant, spoke to the manager. He first said he gave away my reservation because I was 15min late. I explained that wasn't true, he admitted giving away my reservation and offered me to come in that night, have a drink, and we would sort it out. I have no interest in returning to Persepolis or their free drink. My review has single stars clicked in every category because I couldn't leave them blank. It should read PERSEPOLIS ZERO (0) STARS! If Persepolis by chance reads this account they will recognize who I am as they're intimately familiar with the incident.
Had a great and simple meal tonight. The food was delicious, and the service was great! We will be back soon.
Fantastic meat and best sautéed broccoli I have ever had. A+ would go again.
The food and staff are great. I love the pineapple salad and the chicken kabob. The lamb shank is very delicious. A must have is the sour cherry rice. The restaurant is very nice for special occasions.
The best Persian restaurant in the city. Not only are their kabobs exceptional it’s their khoresh (stews) that really shine. Try the ghormeh sabzi or ghemeh along with the wonderful rices. Faloodeh or baklava are a must after dinner.
Met friends for dinner on Saturday who had never been to Persepolis. After a wonderful dinner they were excited to return.
Service was warm, genuine and unobtrusive. Four of us shared three appetizers: chopped salad, sambusas and eggplant with tomatoes and everything was fresh and beautifully seasoned. Main courses were chicken fesenjan, beef stew, beef kebab and lamb shanks. All were delicious and so generously portioned that they were impossible to finish. Dessert for all of us was the fabulous yogurt parfait and a halva-like treat from management.
This was another lovely evening at Persepolis. Highly recommended.
Good food and wine, but definitely one of the stodgiest, most upper east side, most elderly restaurants I have been to in a long time. We felt like we needed to whisper!
Food and Décor were great. But the tables are very close together, and the walls are hard, so the noise level makes conversation difficult.
We had a great dinner at Persepolis last Saturday night. The atmosphere is low-key and friendly, the service was very attentive, and the food was delicious. Three of us had one of the lamb dishes and one of us had a stew -- all very good. And the baklava dessert was perfect. Prices are very reasonable for NYC.
We will definitely return!
We got three appetizers and persepolis as an entree for 3. Eggplant mirza was tasty and melts in your mouth. Beet and yogurt appetizer is sweet, a little bit watery though. Could be more thick with yoghurt. Borani is ok, could be improved with some butter and pine nuts.
Entree had three different meats. Chicken with saffron absolutely great. Other two are also good but shadowed by tastiness of chicken
Finally, baklava as dessert. One of the best I had in my life, considering the ones made by my grandma as well.
Overall ambience is casual and also good for a family dinner/date. Not a place full with kids but I can say it’s still kid friendly.
very nice place, simple, good service with great food.
Rack of Lamb was amazing and the Baba as appetizer as well.
I had a dinner here with 2 friends on New Year's Eve. The place was friendly and cozy but the tables were a little too closely placed. The portion of food was quite large, so coming here in a group would work better than being a solo diner. We shared 2 appetizers and baklava, while I had Caspian (accompanied by the rice with lentil and raisin) for the main course which was very tasty.
The restaurant offered the regular menu, which was a nice change from the usual prix-fixe New Year's Eve menus often offered at many other restaurants.
Great place all dishes were very good!
One of the best true Persian restaurants out there. Never disappoints on every visit. Food is fresh and as tasty as it gets
Pushy waiters. Kept interrupting us even when we told them we were still eating. They had plenty of free tables but it seemed like they couldn't get rid of us fast enough.
Persepolis was indeed wonderful. We celebrated a birthday dinner and enjoyed it.
Excellent Persian food and service. Not very noisy
The only Persian is the owner. Chef is from Thailand and waiters from Mexico. Food was good but felt cheated about the Persian authenticity...
Excellent service and food. I highly recommend and will visit again and again. It was my birthday and they made me feel very special. My friends and I had a wonderful time at Persepolis.
We always have an excellent time coming here. The waiters and staf are super nice. Food is always good. Nothing to complain about
My friends and I met there for our monthly dinner. The food was fantastic and the service was wonderful. We did not feel rushed nor did we feel ignored. Would highly recommend!
We love the freshness of the food. Excellent place to take friends as we did for a recent holiday meal, and a round table for 6.
Love the food except for one salad with mint feta cucumbers and greens. Tasteless
